Shiiiiiit, she should have really seen this coming, god damn it.

Her legs shifted from under her, the ice cream making its way back to the coffee table as the bottle made its way up to her lips. She drank more than she should have, but she needed the help, needed the assistance in loosening her tongue. Why she was having difficulty in actually admitting in what apparently everyone already knew (according to Nova, at least) was beyond her, but her cheeks grew red, her knees moving up to her face, her chin resting on her dark pajama pants.

"G....Gunn Killingworth." She finally said softly, wishing she could just... ugh, ******** go find a corner to just die in. "I think... I think I'm in love with the General-King, Aree."

"G....Gunn Killingworth."

If Aree's jaw could have actually fallen off of her face and landed on the floor, it probably would have. It would have landed on the floor, crashed right through, burrowed through the bedrock beneath the building, and gone straight to the earth's core. And there it would sit in complete and utter disbelief, boiling in liquid metal and still being completely and utterly unable to believe what had just been heard.

It took several moments before Aree was able to force her mouth to close, teeth clicking when she did so. She thought back to the first time she had ever been summoned to the General-Kings side, and the way Nealite had first looked at her. Suddenly, that cold stare made so much more face.

“Well,” she said after a long while, “I guess that means raping is out, huh?”

Maybe it was the alcohol, maybe it was the silence between her answer and the response Aree gave her. Whatever it was, though, it sent the tears back into Ursula's eyes, the memories once again flooding her mind. Memories she'd done so well with suppressing since the other girl's arrival.

She tried to smile at the comment, she really did. It was an amusing comment and she should be laughing, she told herself. Instead, all she could do was tuck her head down, her forehead resting on her knees, and let out a soft sob.

"Oh Aree, I don't know what the ******** I'm going to do."

She was lost. Desperate. Uncertain. All feelings that Ursula despised experiencing, all feelings she was unaccustomed to feeling. And now, thanks to the ******** alcohol (no doubt), these emotions were rushing out, spilling themselves out to her coworker, no, her friend.

Aree did not hesitate to wrap her arms around her forlorn friend again, gently stroking the back of her hair. It was a strange thing to actually feel that knotting in her stomach and that weight on her shoulders, the unfamiliar senses associated with actually giving a s**t about someone else's feeling. She gently rocked her friend back and forth.

It was a long while before Aree finally pulled away, holding Ursula by the shoulders, “You know what you're going to do?” She said, her voice firm but slightly slurred, “You're going to make him understand at the prom. Hell, we both with. By the time we walk out of that place, you're going to be his ******** General Queen.”

She wasn't going to cry.

She wasn't going to cry.

Tears filled her eyes and began to slowly fall down cheeks still red with embarrassment over having admitted such a terrible notion. Her, falling for the General-King of all men. Was she trying to make life impossible for herself? Challenges were one thing, but this was the Mount Everest of relationship conquests.

She accepted the pull-in, her head moving to bury itself against her shoulder. Ursula was ashamed of being so weak, but craved the comfort and support the other girl was so freely offering. It was nice, for once, to finally let go and just cry, even if it was over something as ridiculous as a man.

As Aree pulled her back to look at her, the older woman's eyes weren't able to stare back, focusing instead on the carpet down beside them. She wanted so badly to believe her, she wanted so badly to know that she was right, that the beautiful dress still hanging in her closet was going to finally send the message home to him, finally dazzle him into realizing what a gem he'd been overlooking for so long, but...

Orange eyes moved to finally meet the others, Ursula's own voice handicapped by the amount of alcohol in her system.

"Do you... really think he'd notice me? I've tried for so long, but all I am to him is another Lieuten...well, Captain now. But it's all business, I'm just... more business. Business business business..."

“Captain?!” Aree said, excitement clear in her voice. Had it been anyone else, she might have been contemptuous, but not for Ursula. Not for Nealite. Aree pulled her into another tight hug, doing a sitting version of the little bounce-scream they'd shared in the mall only a few days earlier. After all, this was a good- no, with was a great sign!

“Don't you see, Ursula!” Aree pulled away again, the grin on her face nothing sort of ecstatic, “If he promoted you, then he's clearly noticing something. Even if it's not in the way we want – yet,” Oh yes, Aree said we. This was a joint venture now, “If he's all business, he does notice something special. And at prom, ooooooh at prom, he's not just going to notice you. General-King Oblivious is going to notice you exactly the right way.”

A brief pause.

“Because you're going to kiss him.”

The pout began to pull itself up as the other girl bounced happily, and soon enough, a grin replaced the frown just as quickly as it had appeared. That was the wonder about booze, crying one second, laughing the next.

The theory slowly began to sank into her muddled head, the alcohol both exciting her far more than she should be but at the same time making it far more difficult for her to comprehend the idea. But, the more she mulled over it... could it be? Could he really see her in such a different light than the others, even with having over a dozen cutesy little girls at his command?

She was sent into a fit of giggles over the nickname (one she was definitely going to store away and use on gloomy days to come!), but she was quickly silenced when Aree explained just how she would grab his attention.

Her eyes widened, a look of worry spread across her face. "But I... I don't think I..."

Ursula wouldn't have time to get the words out before Aree pressed a finger over the red-head's lips, abruptly shushing her.

“Ursula, nothing in life is handed to us. When we want something, we take it. That is the way of the Negaverse. None of this,” her other hand fluttered, as though to shoo away the very notion, “None of this, flimsy flamsy waiting for things to happen.” Aree rolled her eyes at the though; how absurd. They did not wait for things.

“You are beautiful, Ursula. One of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. You're strong, you're powerful, and when you kiss him, the General-King won't have any choice but to fall for you.”

These are the types of things one would only hear from Aree when she was nice and liquored up.

The only response Ursula could return involved reaching over and grabbing the Captain and taking another long, deep chug. She sputtered, the sting still painful as the liquor journeyed down her throat, but the booze made the idea much more... possible, in her mind.

"He will enjoy it. He will like it." she finally said, her own voice slightly slurred as she furrowed her eyebrows, attempting to keep only one Aree in front of her, instead of the two that her eyes were telling her she saw. "I'm a good kisser. Just need to... kiss him."

Her eyes closed and she rested her head against the couch. Oh why did she have to make all this difficult? Aree was right, Aree knew what she was talking about. Just a kiss. Just like all those goddamn Disney movies said, true love's kiss would break any spell. It would break the spell on that goddamn dense boss of hers....ugh. She'd get hers one day. One ******** day.

And with that in mind, the older woman quickly succumbed to a drunken slumber, leaving behind a mess of ice cream, booze, and a plastered Aree.

Aree smiled down at her drunken, passed-out friend. With no regard for privacy, she ventured into Ursula's bedroom to steal the blanket, dragging it over to the couch with a great deal of struggling and stumbling. With the room spinning around her, she draped the blanket over Ursula's sleeping frame, smiling down at her.

“Don't you worry...” she mumbled, leaning in to kiss the red-headed woman's temple, tucking the blanket in around her shoulders, “We'll get you your prince charming. Yes we will.”

Moments later, Aree was passed out on the floor.
