[A little note. Your post is a bit broken grammer wise which is a major part of the judging process. You will be judged on using propper grammer and spelling almost as if its a literature class. The next issue is in your post, anyone reading it would say that you would have been sliced in half by the time all the actions your wrote took place. The first part is good with your character, being a beast, could feel the ill intention coming at him causing him to instinctivly jerk around. The next sentences is a bit... akward. If he had little time to process what was going on, theres no need to say the second half of that because thats automatically assumed by the first part of that sentence. Your basically repeating yourself. Now the part after that again, about the shine of the blade was good, however, as we move to the next few sentences we find another small issue. "The young warrior moved his right arm across his body to the left side of his waste. This was done by muscle memory, as a trained action to take when he was about to enter a duel." These sentences can be cut into one. It makes it a good deal clearer and less bulky. If you read the two matches I lost in the GTB subforum I made, youll see one of the issues the judges had with me was my posts being over worded. Those same two sentences could be said "The young warrior moved his right arm across his body to the left side of his waist, the act done solely by muscle memory." The same idea but much cleaner.
Now the sentence afterwards is where we coming into time conflict. In all honesty, by the time you would be saying "Wha!" youd be sliced in half. Not the progression of the battle and the statements I made. My key statement in my post was "a shadow quickly enlarged." You can automatically assume Im falling fast. This means that you have a very limited time in which to respond. So lets break it down into points.
1 You sense my presense 2 You jerk around 3 You barely catch the gleam of my blade 4 Your right hand reaches for your sword 5 You realize your not in battle form 6 You feel like screaming your head off 7 You say, hey, that can save my a** so you do scream.
Seven counts before a reaction to a move that would hit probbaly between 4 and 6. Judges will call you on that. If its all impluse it should stay impluse because in a situation like that your not going to have time to think unless you have enhanced reaction time like Vash as shown in all of my matches.
A possible better way to counter would have been using that muscle memory to aid in drawing your sword quickly to counter mine. Being that im coming down from a height you may not have the physicaly strenght to completly block so why not slow my fall just enough with a body burst of wind using the air around you to aid in the defense. That puts me at a disadvantage cause then you could have immediatly countered. At this present time I have the upper hand. Now on with my post.]
Akiyo was blown back by the last second savior of the boy, however it wasnt something he didnt expect from him. He was the trainer and had adequte information about him from the last attempt at entering the HoH tournament. That information was a year and some old and chances were it wouldnt hold too well. Akiyo had experience on his side however, and he would use it. A backwards aireal flip was enough to help him regain his balance, allowing him to land feet first in the bleachers at a slightly lowered angle, rather than on his back like the boy. Luckily for him he was decending rapidly and even a large gust would have trouble detouring him greatly. As his feet connected he instantly loaded his legs, bending his knees and using them as springs to propell himself nearly instantly forward at an alarming pace. The boy would now have a clear enough look at his weapon to notice that it wasnt normal. Rather than a traditional katana it looked more like a fishing or whaling harpoon than a blade even though it had a propper hilt. It would also be apparent that there was a second matching weapon upon his back. The method of attack now was a forward strke like what one would see in fencing, an obvious intention to impale the boy through his chest with such an attack. [Due to laziness im not going to bother trying to describe what it looks like ill just post a picture and take up a hell of a lot of room.
These weapons both have hilts. The hilts of the weapons are a deep red with crossguards mirroring crescent moons. The blades sit in the middle of the crossguard.]

.....There Kaze laid, back down upon the ground. He knew he wasn't the smartest, but it was times like these that he would rely solely on luck, which seemed to pull him out of some of the most impossible predicaments. Kaze rocked his back from to side to side, noticing something a bit odd. It wasn't the fact that he was laying on one of the benches that struck him as odd. Nope, what was odd was that the mangled bench he was laying on was moving very freely, as if the top half of the bench wasn't connected to the ground anymore. The lad saw his chance to regain time once more, and decided to take the chance!
.....Immediate Kaze began to roll backwards. He continued to roll back until his body was propped upwards by his head, revealing his backside to face his opponent. From that position, Kaze put his hands down grasping both edges of the bench while lifting his body upward, doing a hand stand. The boy used his spiraling momentum to fling the bench straight towards the lunging foe. While the plank of wood was sailing through the air, Kaze wasn't quite done with it quite yet. It still served a greater purpose. As the boy continued to rotate in mid air from the spiraling momentum, he out stretched his legs, timing it just right and landing them softly on the ground. The moment his feet connected with the ground, the boy thrust forth his right hand. All his fingers were tucked in, except for his pointer finger and thumb. They were aimed at the sailing plank of wood, while resembling a gun. A quick burst of energy was called for. A pulse from within the boy's body began to form. This pulse started from his chest and traveled right down his arm, to his very finger tip. A quick recoiling sensation shout out of the boy's finger, causing his hand to jerk upwards. From the looks of things, nothing seemed to have been produced from this attack, however, it was almost instant to show it's true purpose. The plank of wood that was heading in the opponents direction soon shattered. It instantly burst into thousands of tiny wooden needles.
.....No time to think, Kaze had to move onto the next step. He again used his right hand, only this time he brought it straight up toward the sky, palm wide open. Things were shifting in the air once more. It seemed as if a bit of the nearby air energy was being drawn in for this technique.

[This was a very well thought of counter. I see some of the same issues present in this post as in the last and in truth it is honestly helping me realize what the judges meant in my posts about my being too wordy. The entire second paragraph can be reduced in size without losing its meaning. In these tournaments its not a matter of who posts the most words. Judging scale normally goes on...GTB judging rubric - How clear did each fighter make their actions? When you read it, were you able to see a picture of what they were doing? If not, did they at least supply some OOC in their post to clarify more in depth what happened? Grammar and spelling has a small part in this, but if the fighter lacked in either, it becomes a major part.
- Which fighter seemed to perform the best with their abilities? Sometimes, this means which fighter had the upper advantage using their skills, but also means which fighter was more clever? Going DBZ with explosions here and there are too cliche in this category, unless the other fighter didn't even try to avoid them. Basically, the fighter's tactics are judged.
- Which fighter was more entertaining?
- Which fighter was more creative? While the second question above is general in the tactics of the fighter, this is more specific, as in, which fighter did things that you never would have suspected them to do? Meaning, using strategies that were clearly unique.
- How often did each fighter post? If they gave an excuse for any absences, then it doesn't count against them much, but if they didn't, count it against them majorly. As you can see the size of your posts really dont matter too largely unless it was obvious that there was no effort put into it or it didnt do anything to help the current situation.
The two lines of the second paragraph are ok. After that it gets a bit sketcy. Im finding it a bit difficult to figure out how, your able to throw the bench from that position. Consider your body placement. If by raising your body revealed your backside to me, that would mean that from my position your legs would be reached before your head. That means that your legs would kick back away from me rather than towards me. That would mean that its more reasonable for the bench to have been thrown away in the opposing direction. Now if you raised to where your body had been facing me that motion would be a bit more understandable as to how it could be thrown with your flipping motion.
The next thing Id like to point out is this. We cant think of these battles as one would see an anime. The chances of you being able to pull out more than one or two rotations within the time given. Again, by the time you landed I more than likely would be already through the plank and into your body the way I posted. However, you are not completly at fault. Neither one of us posted distances as to how far we landed away from each other to be able to gauge how long it could take before I reached my target so in a large way, if brought to the judges due to conflict, you would more than likely win your defense unless they put into deep consideration just how far an UNCHARGED -I did this for clarification of some things later- burst of wind could blow a 180+ pound man away. If that were the case, you would lose and probbaly lose the match due to being impaled by a blade.
I want you to seriously think of how you can compress your moves down to make them flow more fluidly. The counter you pulled could have been done in quick sucession. If I were you this would have been my post starting from the throw.your post While the plank of wood was sailing through the air, Kaze wasn't quite done with it quite yet. Even though the plank sailed at his target, Kaze had yet to finish his defensive. Following through his rotation, he streched out his legs and regained his composure upon the ground. Nearly instantaneously, his right arm thrusted forth with all fingers curled into a fist with the exeception of his index and thumb. His outstreached index finger aimed at the plank of wood as if it were the barrel of a gun and for now would act like one. A quick burst of energy pulsed from the boys body, leaving its core and traveling through his finger and out from the tip. His hand jerked upwards from the recoil of the burst. To anyone who may have been watching it would seem as if nothing happened and what happened next would seem like magic to those who had no understanding of the abilities being used. The plank of wood that was heading towards his opponent shattered into hundreds (if you think carefully, a thousand or more peices of tiny wood would do little to keep him from continuing forward. If you say hundreds the size of the peices are much larger and much more dangerous. With your post you would be hitting him with a s**t load of splinters and it really wouldnt do anything at all.) of wooden needles.
Your last line can be redone too although its ok. You dont have to state there was no time to think. How do you know whether or not I will be able to push through and keep coming at you? As far as you know I can keep coming through or retreat to higher ground. Your limiting yourself because if your character cant think, you wont be able to prove any elaborate moves or planned circumstances. Why? Because, you just stated that your character didnt have time to think and not everything can be fixed upon luck and chanced circumstance.]
This was indeed a surprise. The boy did have some wit about him as was able to pull off a pretty decent counter. Already in forward motion, Akiyo didnt have the ability to simply move out of the way of a large amount of debri that was coming at him. Removing his right hand from the lower half of the hilt, he lifted it to cover his face while increasing his reiatsu. His body quickly illuminated itself in what seemed to be a light blue covering, the shards of wood hitting the arm covering his face and his body beneath, but it would only cause a bit of bruising. In essense he used his energy as a soft shield. Forcefully jamming his legs downwards, he came to an early stop before he jumped backwards away from the boy. He hoped to distance himself by a good ten feet from the boy. While still in the air, the right hand that once covered his face shot forward, palm fully exposed. "ShakkahÅ!" Although said within his mind, the incantation worked the same. From his palm a ball of red spiritual energy mirrioring a fireball shot foward. Hopefully the boy didnt mistake it for fire.

[Finnaly got a second to post an entrance]
A small gust made its way over the battle field and into the opposing stands. Athous sat there quitely, engrossed in his book. With his thumb he caught the page of his book as it attempted to stop him from continuing on with the interesting story that he had picked up on the way here. It was a book on the previous years of the GTB, ones he had thought to participate in but never had enough time to. Now, recruited for the purpose of training the new Team Eclipse, and to provide a refresher course for those veterans who might be rusty, Athous waited for the one he was scheduled to test and train in whatever means needed to get him into shape. With a sigh, his left hand brushed away a strand of his odd purple hair. "The boy is late...."

Running down the way with his arms lingering back feeding his speed, Tachi approached his trainer. Coming to a halt, Tachi slide forward awaiting the right moment to jump forward bending his head down to produce a front flip landing him in front of his trainer with his Suna attire on, hood rested upon his head accompanied by a mouth covering to conceal his facial features.
Staring into the eyes of his trainer Tachi analyzed his trainer up and down before parting his lips to speak.
"Excuse my lateness, however I will make up for it."
Crouching down slightly, Tachi balled both his fist raising his left arm stretched out, lifting his right hand, with his elbow bent putting his right fist a few inches away from his left fist, close to his chest. Preparing his self for combat.
"Come forth in an attacking manner, I shall show you what I have in store for HOH." (Click link to see my attire with hood.) http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e330/omega_vergil/n_kinzakudosu.jpg

He couldnt help but laugh to himself. "Any manner?" he thought to himself as his eyes continued to absorb the words upon its pages into his mind. If he were to do that then things would be over far too quickly. Many of the trainers here, him included, didnt play too nice with those they were training but he was rather relaxed today and would "play nice" for a change. He turned towards the one called Tachi. "Its your job to see if you can budge me not mine to see how quickly I can push you into a cage." he said smoothly, almost as if they those words were lines of a poem yet his eyes never once left the book. Chains began to quickly slide down his legs from underneath his pants outside of Tachi's range of vision as if they were snakes feeling that a feast was near. Silently they dug their way into the snake and continued to dig deeper and deeper.

Tachi without hesitation dashed toward his trainer prepared to play offensive and defense if he must, moving his right hand behind his back, Tachi grabbed the handle of the katana resting in it's home. Giving a small tug released the sword half way before the appearance of the sword came forth from the black sheathe from behind him moved in front of him grasped firmly as Tachi closed the gap.
Halting, Tachi slide forward slowly calculating the consequences of each move he would make reassuring himself to make the right moves where he can shift to defense in no time with out harm taking place Tachi would attempt no open spots left to lead to his defeat. Speed increasing momentarily with his arm movements, Tachi slashed his sword toward his trainer from left to right aimed at his chest. In the midst of swinging his sword Tachi moved his left hand behind his back digging in his pouch grabbing a kunai moving the held kunai beside his waist acting as defense.

There was a bit of a difference between trainer and trainee. One of which was quite possibly experience in battle, but that had yet to be dicussed and validated. The second obvious difference, at least in terms of fighting styles, was that it could be assumed that Tachi prefered weapon combat whereas Athous, although quite skilled in weaponry, prefered to use.... well that was going to be revealed shortly. The chains that were feeding into the ground from behind his legs broke off, part retracting into his pants and the other digging out of sight into the earth. Assuming that Tachi was well trainined Tachi would have stopped his forward motion just withing range of the top quater of the blade. As Tachi reached the point at which he was now commited to his attack Athous moved in and shifted slightly to his left while turning sideways, covering the remaining short distance between the two while effectivly sidestepping and placing himself at a point in which Tachi now had an opening. Since katanas averaged between a lenght of 3.5-5 feet, Athous didnt have much of a distance to cover. His right hand at this point had effectivly dropped the book it once held and now lashed out to take control of Tachi's wrist just before his swing finished. Simultaneously his left leg would strike forward with a powerful low kick aimed at the back of his Tachi's right knee that pushed inward and down. The effect of this would be an uncontrolable loss of balance and quite possibly force Tachi to drop to his right knee.
If this move was effective in dropping his Tachi to his right knee, Athous right knee would fire up and strike Tachi's face directly. Needless to say, the chains that had been leaving his pants earlier to dig into the ground had now gathered and wrapped themselves quite closely around his entire right leg. This would make the incoming knee strike much more powerful than a normal one. It was deffinatly enough to K.O. most fighters after its strike. If his move did not force Tachi to his knee but just caused him to bend to the side at which damage was inflicted, as a kick to the back of the knee sometimes has a tendancy to do, Athous' left hand, by this time chambered and in a readied position at his left side, would fire from its position aimed towards the side of Tachi's face. As the fist would fly on its inteded path, a metal would begin to materialize upon it, starting from his fingers and extending backwards. This was the start of the formation of his guantlets, presently the only weapons he had with him besides the unknown chains. Of course by the time the strike connected with Tachi's face, the gauntlets would only be a fraction of the way complete, metal only covering the knuckles and fingers of his left hand. However, this would be enough to send quite a few fighters hurling into a world of confusion and if that were the case it would only lead to more pain for Tachi.

Snap Snap With that the sparks dancing in his fingers turned into a flame as Devon held it up to the cigarette perched in his mouth. He lit the cigarette and extinguished the flame with a flick of his wrists. He blew out a few smoke rings and then leaned back in the stadium seating. he wasn't quite sure if this was the right spot he was supposed to be, but he figured it was better to pick a spot and be wrong later then to be caught in indecisionThere appeared to be two people duking it out down below. He lowered his sunglasses revealing his one normal brown eye and his one golden eye as he looked down. His face twitched in a slight smirk of amusement, but his eyes continued to watch the two.
For all he knew he was next, so it was better to learn what he could before he had to step into the ring.

"HIYA!!!!!" A boy who looked no more than thirteen seemed to burst from no where beside the one who held a cigarette. The boy seemed to be plainly dressed, a simple black silk shirt with matching jeans with matching black sneakers to complete his outfit. "You must be Devon right?!" He continued with his eccentric proclaimations and constant bouncing as he began to dance around. The boy merely seemed to be nothing more than a cute little boy with light brown skin and dark flowing hair as if he were mixed in race.

"Yaah!" Devon said as he jumped slightly at the sudden appearance of the kid. After the initial jump scare was over, he then focused his attention away from the battleground and to the kid radomly appearing from nothingness. He watched as the kid seemed to jump up and down ad nauseum. Seeming a bit more freaked out by the kids hyperactivity then the sudden appearance he turned and puffed out another bit of smoke away from the kid( second hand smoke and all) and replied as calmly as he could " Yes I am, can I help you with something small child?'

"YUP!" Coming to a halt infront of Devon he placed both hands behind his back. A strap upon his waist could now be easily seen and a bag obviously opened by his motions. "I'm your trainer for the day so get ready." He said this with a smile as he brought his hands back into view. In them were two kunais, one with a green string attached and the other with a blue string attached. "When you are ready lets play!"

"Play? In the stadium stands?" Devon askd questioningly. There wasn't a lot of room to maneuver with the seats forming rows. Then again maybe that was the point. The kid seemed small enough to in all probability keep his ground despite the limited movement. Maybe this kid was more dangerous than he seemed. All things were possible in this unfamiliar arena Well this would be a challenge if nothing else.Leaning back on the chair and coiling his legs slightly, he used the momentum of when he shot them back out to move out of his seat. He gave a small smile as he said " Play huh?" Alright I'll bite."
With that he outstretched his hands and a apple sized ball of flame sprung into each of them. Quickly taking a few steps back he flicked his wrists forward in a crossing motion and sent the balls of flame rushing toward the kids midsection.

There was no hesitation from Kaine in the presense of the flames. In truth, it was an adverse reaction for the young boy dashed towards Devon. The flames posed no problem to him for he merely mimiced a game of leap frog and vaulted right over them with his forward momentum. His counter attack? Well as Kaine landed he merely used the spring motion of his legs to vault again, head first towards the midsection of Devon, cutting the already small distance between the two to no distance in a mere moment. Presently the balls had probbaly only covered a distance of a few feet before they were effectively dodged. With this there was probbaly little time for his opponent to even fathom the strange dodge let alone the even stranger counter attack. Upon a successful connection, Devon, despite bodily build, would be winded as a quickly focused aura manifested just above the head of Kaine. The strike would hide its presense further since clothing would cover the brief shine that emitted upon contact and since that was the only thing that told of the presense of such an ability, it would continue to go without notice.

As Devon watched the kid leapfrog over the fireballs he gave a small smirk, he dissipated the fire balls and was preparing for a different approach when the kid leapfrogged up with the head but striking him in his midsection. It was a suprisingly strong head but for a kid. However, two could take advantage of close proximity. Following the strike to the chest, Devon followed his body's natural instinct when winded and exhaled outward. As he exhaled he generated a tongue of flame coming from his mouth extending outwards towards the kid, like a dragon in tales of yore. With the kids close proximity, there was little time or room to leapfrog his way out of this one.
