"You certainly can." Cali figured the girl could see for herself exactly what happened. It wouldnt harm Yvette at all and it actually felt pretty cool in her mind- all soft and fuzzy, but prickly at the same time. Venus fly traps were probably the most popular type of plant that Cali owned, save for the cacti outside. Everyone seemed to know about them. Calintha giggled a little as well about the other girls public speaker statement. "Well, I think your voice is pleasant to listen to, even if its too soft for public speaking." FOOT. IN. MOUTH. As soon as the statement left her pale pink lips, the blonde girl knew she'd definitely been dumb about that comment, and she immediately flushed. It didn't seem super terrible to her, it just implied...well, she had no clue what it implied, but it sounded like something that should've stayed firmly rooted in her mind, not carelessly tossed out and about like spores in the wind. Why did she always have to be so awkward? Whyyyy... Cali tried very hard not to let her inner turmoil show, but she did seem suddenly a lot more ridid. Like a venus fly trap with ITS FOOT IN ITS MOUTH.

For a moment, that awkward silence that followed Calintha's comment lingered and made the air heavy. So very heavy. Yvette glanced down to her shoes and shuffled a foot, swiveling it slightly.
"Uh... ummm... I... I guess.... I'm... I'm kinda..." the darker haired girl managed to get out of her mouth before she once again shut her mouth.
Heck, I was the one who said it, why is this so weird? She mentally kicked herself before turning back to the plant she had been looking at. There wasn't as much excitement to this experiment now, just because she was now mentally fretting over somehow messing up again. Ever so gently, she touched her finger in the mouth of the plant, and rather gently, it closed up, attempting to swallow her finger. It was a weird feeling, having her finger tickle slightly like this. Taking her hand back casually, she glanced over to the next plant.
Hoping to lift the dead air, she asked "So... uh.... uhm... what is this one?"

Echoing the other girls soft voice, Calintha's voice had gotten small. It had shrunk into itself, and no amount of pretending she was a tour guide would make it any better. Crap. "Oh... that one is a cobra lilly." She paused a little and then realized that her explanation... really explained nothing at all. "Its a type of pitcher plant. Small insects are lured inside of the hollow leaves and then get disoriented and fall into the liquid at the bottom, which is what it uses to digest the bug." Her voice got a little stronger towards the end, talking about her plants always bolstered her confidence, even if it was minimally.

After hearing the name of the plant, as well as the description, Yvette nodded her head quietly. She looked it over, her eyes analyzing the various aspects of the plant. At the mention of the liquid, she stood on her tip toes and attempted to look inside the plant. It was very evident, at least to her, why this plant was named as such. It looked like a cobra getting ready to dance.
"If it weren't such an intriguing plant, I might feel sorry for the insects." Her tone was quite mild for such a rather strong statement. She seemed to be less on edge as well, for her shy little hesitance in her speech had all but disappeared.
Casually, she squeaked out "Would you mind me coming by to sketch out some of these plants later?"

When Yvette stood on her tippy toes to see the liquid inside, Calintha gently tipped the plant up, exposing the inside of its leaves so the other girl could see the viscous substance glittering inside. "Seems to be the way things go- either one thing or the other... everything has to eat." The girl shrugged her shoulders. The next question, however, caught her a little off guard. Someone found her plants beautiful enough to draw? Or at the very least, interesting enough anyways. "Oh! oh... yes, that would be fine!" Though, because of the sensitive nature of her plants, she was the only one who had a key to the greenhouse. "I guess, the plants outside are always open to be drawn. The greenhouse is only open when I'm here though... which is a lot." Cali was pretty much in her greenhouse whenever she didn't have class, or wasnt being dragged internally to be social. "I'll be here for the rest of the day today, and all of tomorrow, and then after my classes most days, if I dont have homework. Your welcome to drop by any time." It might've seemed generous to most people, but Calintha wanted friends. She wanted friends who appreciated her plants and didn't laugh at her for loving them like she did. Even the other botany students didn't understand. No one really understood but her little sister.

In a slightly apologetic fashion, she uttered "I hope I won't be a bother!" Deciding she would come back another day, she continued to look at the plants, but in a slightly quicker fashion. She didn't ask anymore questions, because then that meant they'd have nothing to talk about the next time she came into the greenhouse here.
There had been plenty to see, and when she had her fill for the day, she nodded her head towards the garden caretaker with a smile.
"I think I will take my leave for now. But, I guess I'll see you soon?" Her eyes looked to Calintha for an answer, hoping that this didn't come across as too imposing.

Calintha smiled. "No, not at all." She walked over to the door to basically see Yvette out. She figured it was the polite thing to do, though she didnt really know for sure. "Alrighty- that sounds good to me!" The girls smile changed to a shy one. She really hoped that the other girl made true on her proposal. It would be nice to have someone around when she was gardening... it would be nice to have a friend. Smiling to herself, Cali grabbed the clipping shears and her gloves from the table, heading back outside to tend the creeper vines. What a beautiful afternoon.
