"Ya, it's all about power. The more power you have, the easier it will be to crush your opponents. But remember, the more power you have, the more you'll suffer." quote by Moise M.
____Well, all I can think of is that because they see all Mods. with a lot of gold, they believe they'll get a lot of gold as well, but what good is gold if you have nobody around you?; Nobody to share it and to be with? And whats even more funny is how people are punished by making a mistake, everybody makes mistakes, that's one of the rules of life. Instead of just instantaneously punishing them, they should investigate and get to why they did it so they can take the problem out, but! That's just my opinion, and! I can't believe I wrote so much...
Oh, and forgot something! The funny thing is that People on Gaia are banned because of breaking rules that really harm nobody and yet, Gaia is promoting tobacco items to minors and that is a serious violation of the law xD

Their just items for our avatars really, Gaia DID ban them but due to a lot of bitching and wining in the GD, GCD, Petitions , and their own thread they returned them. I mean the worst that could happen really is our avatars getting E-Lung Cancer. All in All. Gaia is a fantasy web site, none of the items here were meant to be taken seriously in anyway. So where's the 'breaking law' part? Where does it say gaia is promoting them? I smoke IRL but it's not because I do on gaia. (although I actually quit a few months ago!)

I Am Mother G xxxxx x I hear people complaining about Gaia Mods all the time. &, of course, I'm complaining about Gaia's insane way of enforcing their ToS all the time. I think I've found out the cause of both of the above. The following is from the official "Questions & Answers" sticky in Gaia about becoming a site Moderator. Quote: "Q: Do I have to report a certain number of ToS violations to apply? A: Yes, you need to have reported at least 100 ToS violations within the last 6 months to qualify. You may not know how many reports you have made, but when we review your application, your report history is reviewed and we will verify both the quantity and quality of your reports. If you report violations regularly when you see them, it helps Gaia and it increases your chances of becoming a Moderator. So, report often and report accurately." So, basically Gaia is demanding that people spend a ton of time looking for the slightest little things that might possibly violate ToS, & report them because they want to be a Moderator. So there's tons of people running around this site doing the Site Moderators job, because they're trying to become a Site Moderator so they can do the exact same thing they're already doing. I personally think this is completely ridiculous, & bugged me enough to put it in the main forum. Moderating a site should demand more from you than an excessive series of attempts at punishment. I'm sick of seeing so many people banned for such dumb reasons. The Mutual Disclosure Agreement that they have you sign before you fill out the Moderator Application is anything but mutual if/when put into practice, too, but I won't bore you with their legal flaws & inconsistences, I've already bored Oxy to death with it, to say the least. Anyway, what do you all think of that? Relevant links: Moderator Applicaton FAQApply to become a moderatorQuote: "If you feel that a specific moderator is targeting you unfairly for abuse or taking advantage of their powers, please send an email to membertalk@gaiaonline.com. Keep in mind that this is for serious, legitimate complaints after you have already PMed the moderator in question asking for a clearer explanation regarding an action." Interesting topic. I can see you put a great deal of time and effort into this. I'm not usually on Gaia long enough to even notice or care about stuff like this.

Only Legit reports are actually taken seriously. It says very clearly that they review the QUALITY not just the quantity of those reports. So in other words, those that abuse the report tool. In an attempt to become a moderator. Actually might get themselves banned in the process. They certainly will never become a moderator of this sight.
Gaia is looking for reliable Moderators. How reliable those assigned to the Games like Fishing and Blackjack currently. Is more than just up for review. As they are severely inadequate at there jobs and have been. Since before I first signed up for this website in January 6, 2006. This is either because of that sub-forum being understaffed. Or those assigned to it not doing there job. Nowhere on this website. Should people be Harassed to the point where they leave the Website with nothing done about it. Yet, that is what I saw happening in the Games sub-forums.

They are NOT given this gold for being a Moderator. Those that are a Moderator for this website. Have earned all of that on there own power. There is no mysterious bonus for being a Moderator of this website. Those that spend a large amount of time on this website. Plus actually contribute something of value to the website as a whole. Are all eventually made Moderators at one point or another.

It makes perfect sense to me. It's only about reporting things that SHOULD be reported. If go around reporting people for nothing you run the risk of being banned yourself.
Like you should report people for trying to scam others or harassing to the point of flaming for example. Even something like posting in the wrong forum should be reported. I do this and I have no desire to be a mod. (especially the scamers, my god please report the scamers)

ali_dragonslayer XSK Ambrosia It's cruel but sadly every word is true. People these days desire power more than fun or friends. It's retarded, and lack of intelligence. agree with tht doubt thats true moderators tend to be extremely popular and have alot more friends then the most well known ppl and are highly social and turns out a lot of them are very nice i one time received a donation from one of them for complimenting their gaia outfit now that i think of it,alot of them have jobs and lives they tend to,and even more thought to it makes u wonder "are they actually doing it for the power" i mean really grown adults on a website making sure no sexual intent from anyone can get to younger players, everything is going right if they do have more mods, then obviously theyll still be doing the things that makes stuff orderly and safe

Am I glowing?
...that isn't a rule to apply for a Mod. Those are technically "guidelines". You don't actually have to have 100 reports.
And, people would get banned for stupid things if they didn't do the stupid things in the first place. sweatdrop
Bump it here and/or here. Thanks. ^_^

I ended up banned for awhile due to accidentally placing threads in the wrong area on multiple occasions back when I was still relatively new. Tried to question my banning and of course never got any feedback, so it's not just normal people at an attempt to be a moderator, it's the moderators themselves as well. While I admit they do their jobs correctly they don't cut anybody some slack.
