Lin shook her head and sighed, "I'm starting to think that the portal is off.... when Lore and Elnara stayed in the Borderlands for a year, Lore had a two week vacation back home and he came home just in time to have at least a day off still...."
Normally it wouldn't bother her except time really was getting faster, the time difference was increasing and while it was an advantage for them this was a problem for her father who wanted to know what was going on in the other world.
"We took a week and a half back home to prepare," Lin added as if to provide a comparison on exactly how off this whole thing was, "How long as Rhea been here?"

Earendil thought about it briefly. "About four years?" he guessed. "Something like that. Elrohir and Haradhel brought her down with Arahad on their way to visit Arwen and Roydon."
He chuckled. "It's kind of strange, having an Aldrich here that none of us are really related to. I mean, go back thirteen or fourteen or fifteen generations and we've got a common ancestor ... but that's about it."
Shiro laughed. "Well, we've always viewed her as a cousin anyways," he winked. "Just because."

She had to admit that was a lot of generations apart when she thought about it.
"I hope she doesn't mind then," Lin murmured.
They did tell Rhea they would be here as soon as possible, but soon as possible wasn't soon enough it seemed.

"Oh, she's been enjoying herself," Earendil chuckled. "You'll see her at breakfast. But first, I'll take you to your rooms - we won't be able to leave until tomorrow, at the earliest. We have everything ready, but we do have to pack up."
Shiro looked around. "Looks like your study is already packed," he commented.
"Most of it," Earendil nodded. "What's left won't take long."

She couldn't help but wonder how long all that stuff had been packed. Senka who had been on Lin's shoulder for a good long while decided to leap of and tried to get onto Earendil's shoulder.
"Did it take a long while?" Lin asked knowing how much Earendil kept in there.

Earendil caught Senka and smiled warmly, stroking her happily in greeting. He had missed the possessive little kitty.
"Well, I have that bag that you gave me," he smiled at Lin, "so it wasn't as bad as I feared. And I did put it neatly into the bag, so it's easy to find things back again. I think without it, I would have needed as many bags as could fill this room."
He had no idea how Rhea had managed to pack all of her things into just two bags.

"Mine," Senka purrred.
Lin rolled her eyes a bit before looking around at what was left of Earendil's study. Which wasn't a lot to be honest.
"As long as you can find it again," Lin replied.
Though she had no idea how Earendil could find anything after putting everything into his bag.

Earendil laughed. "Just wait until I pack all of my clothes and stuff, and then we'll see," he grinned. He stopped as they arrived at the rooms where they would all be staying. "And here you are. Same rooms as always for all of you. Rhea's in the room that Uncle Lore and Aunt Elnara usually use ... at least, that's where she sleeps. She goes out like I used to in the mornings."
Storm and Starr headed into the room that they would be sharing, as did Shiro, Ura and Kaito.
Earendil kept petting Senka. "Excited about this, Lin?" he asked, his eyes sparkling brightly in the growing light.

"I don't think it's sunk in yet," Lin replied.
She couldn't deny she was excited but at the same time it seemed a bit unreal to her the way this was going. Even though she had been looking forward to this for years she still couldn't wrap her head around the fact they were indeed going on this trip.

Earendil chuckled and opened the door for Lin, holding it so that she could go in first. "I know what you mean. We've been waiting for a long time ... so far it still just feels like another visit from you. But I'm sure it will sink in once we're actually on the ship."

Lin grinned at that as she stepped through, her room had not changed all that much if at all. There were still signs from when a little girl lived here and she had memories of pillow forts.
"Yes and once then, who knows what we'll see," Lin murmured setting her bag down.
The act of setting her main bag down caused foxes to squirm out and flutter around. They already had favourite places they liked to sleep in.
"Hmm.. .I guess since we're going tomorrow there isn't a point in unpacking," Lin murmured.

"Only things you'll be using today," Earendil nodded. "I have to pack my things today, but other than that it will just be a matter of packing food for our trip south, and getting the horses ready so that we can leave right away in the morning."
He looked around as well. For all the times Lin had visited him here, he had never really spent any time in here ... after all, it wasn't prudent for a man to be in a girl's bedchamber, and Lin herself didn't do a lot in there when she visited.

The fact Lin didn't do a lot in her room much less the fact she didn't really live there for long periods of time showed. There wasn't anything that came from Gaia that stayed there. Even though it had become her room in a sense.
"Perfect," Lin murmured, "And it's not like I'm going to use a lot."
This was true too it wasn't like Lin put on make up or styled her hair in anyway so this suited her greatly.
"So should we head down to the dining hall?" Lin asked knowing it was probably close to breakfast.

"Let's wait for the others first," Earendil smiled, stepping out of Lin's room again. "That way we can all go down together. Not that I think they'll get lost or anything, but from the way Kaito said Storm and Starr have been acting lately, I want to especially make sure that they don't feel left out or rushed, or as if they're an inconvenience or anything like that."
And it wasn't just because they were family: as a prince, he had learned to value diplomacy and the value of making sure everyone's needs were seen to.

Lin nodded this was true and the two hadn't been here since the wedding. So it was only right that they should wait, making sure she knew where her foxes were she exited her room and closed the door behind her. Not that she feared her foxes getting out, they could find a way out if they wanted to, it was just something she was use to.
"Fair enough," Lin replied, "Hopefully this will cheer them up."
