"So what's your type," Benny persisted, painstakingly following her lead as he pressed down on the keys. "Wait, wait, let me guess. Let's see. You're tiny. I bet you like tall guys. I bet you like them -- sensitive, you're not the kind of girl to like a jerk, ho ho!" (Benny Beldon did, literally say, 'ho ho'.) "I bet you like -- you know, nice guys. Like -- "
He paused like a prophet. "OH DAMN I BET YOU WOULD LOVE ZEKE MARTIN."

"Uh..." Serenade honestly had no clue as to what kind of guys she liked, because she had never really stopped to think that the universe encompassed something beside school and the piano. Her fingers halted; her mind now fully on the conversation at hand and a look of confusion crossed her face. "Zeke? He's on the track team, right?" It was something she knew only because Jude was on the track team too.

"Yep," said Benny, "and he is the nicest guy, seriously, I should set you up. Damn, I'm like some kind of... Cupid or something? That's me. Seriously, you shouldn't go to the prom alone. It'd be odd. You're pretty, you know that? You're definitely not remotely butt-ugly, and I'm a pretty good judge of looks. You're adorable."
Her fingers had halted, but his went through the motions again. "I'll ask him, see if he has a date. Don't worry, I'll be completely subtle."

"That's nice." She said politely. She had never really known Zeke Martin that well; she only knew most of her schoolmates on a first name basis, but never gone so far as to really attempt to talk with them. A faint blush crossed her cheeks at the compliment, and she smiled, almost looking embarrassed.
"I guess if he doesn't mind, I'm fine with it too?" She shrugged her shoulders lightly. Serenade didn't connect 'prom date' with 'romantic relationships'. It seemed perfectly logical to her that people would go to the prom with each other even if they were just mere friends.

"Excellent," said Benny. "High five!" And he waited patiently, holding up his hand, until Serenade high-fived it -- and then went back to what they had been doing before, which was much more important: the Chopsticks.
"All right," he said, "let's get back to more important stuff; the Chopsticks."
Poor Serenade was biting off much more than she could chew at this point.

She did indeed hi-five him, albeit rather timidly and after a few seconds of staring at his palm. With prom talk out of the way, she did indeed go on and focus once again on teaching Benny. She played the tune slowly one octave lower for him to observe. "Got that?" She asked. "It's actually a relatively easy song, really." Disregarding the harder versions that could be played, of course.
