"Janice transferred, too," nodded Tallulah happily. And then, realizing that Pavel might not be in the know, added, "She's my rival."
Hopefully Janice would stay gone. Then the valedictorian spot would be hers for the taking. "I'm glad you like the Model UN," she said bashfully, and ruffled his hair. "This was fun."

The news of Janice's transfer received nothing more than a curious headtilt, until a bit more explanation was added. Pasha wondered just how they were rivals - Tallulah had mentioned that her hobbies were swimming and organizing. He could imagine a swimming rival, but an organizing rival? That would be...interesting. He decided to settle on their rivalry as a general one.
"Don't tell Janice, but I'm cheering for you," he whispered, as if it were really any secret. He laughed as she ruffled his hair, making a face and scrunching up his nose. It kinda tickled! "Yep, it was lots of fun! Meet here again, next time you're free?" He stifled another yawn, but this time it was probably getting close to bedtime.

"Thank you," Tallulah whispered back, for no particular reason than he had and it seemed like a good idea. "I won't tell her. That means a lot to me."
She yawned as well - she'd read somewhere that those were contagious - and nodded. "Uh-huh! I'll see you soon. I better get going..."
She hadn't realized how tired she was until now. She closed the packet of Oreos. "Do you want them or should I take them?" she asked.

Oreo custody was a pretty serious thing to have to determine, and Pasha considered it as such as he closed his thermos. If he took them home...well, they probably wouldn't even make it to his house. But there was a solution to be found here, and he thought he might have a suggestion.
"How about!" he looked at Tallulah to make sure she was ready for this. "You take them home, then I can always bring something to drink, and you can always bring something to eat? So we'll always have snacks!"
He stood up and stretched, taking another good look at the stars.

"Okay," agreed Tallulah, deciding that this was a good idea. Very organized and logical. She cast one last look at the stars and got to her feet. "Alright," she sighed. "I gotta go."
She held out a hand for Pavel. "Are you coming?" she asked. "Or are you going to stay out longer?"
She'd been under the impression he was about to leave, but didn't want to rush him. Come to think, she didn't even know where he lived. Presumably somewhere in this neighborhood, but the area around the playground was pretty big.

Taking her hand with all the confidence of a little boy about to cross the street, he tucked his adorable cat and dog blanket under his opposite arm, carefully plucking up the thermos lid with his fingertips. It was obvious that he'd had some practice at this.
"I'm ready to go too! And that way, we don't have to walk alone." It had taken him this long to realize that he wasn't quite sure where she lived, either. "Are we neighbors? I live over that way."
He moved his hand to point, but remembered that both of them were a little tied up at the moment. Improvising, he nodded to the right. "Over past the swings and stuff. I went to the swings the first day I moved here. It's how I found my really great stargazing spot!"

"Oh, I live..." Tallulah nodded to the left, past the slide. "That way," she said. "So I guess not."
When they reached the sidewalk, she gave him one last look. "Well, this is where I go. See you at school tomorrow."
She grinned at him and then headed on her way home. It was good to have friends.

Pasha waved goodbye as they stepped onto the sidewalk, smiling against the neon glow of the halogen streetlight.
"Goodniiiiiight, see you tomorrow," he responded cheerily. His body didn't approve of the extra use of energy, and he yawned again.
Had he not been so sleepy or burdened with a blanket, he probably would have skipped all the way home. Everything about Destiny City had been so exciting and new so far. New friends with all sorts of new possibilities and experiences. It was hard to feel homesick for his old town when he hadn't yet explored his new one in its entirety.
Taking care to be as quiet as possible, he slipped through the side door and tiptoed up to his room, ready to snuggle into his covers and dream happy dreams.
