Todd stumbled back, shoving both of his hands into the large pocket of his hoodie as struggled to get his balance. He huffed again, but decided his complaints could be saved for later. Right now it seemed he needed to stay out of harms way. Or what he assumed to be harm's way.
So the young boy did his best to be sly as the animal he did his best to intimidate, and stay out of the focus of this newcomer.

"Wha'd you get with it?" Austin demanded as he reached them.
"I ain't had time to get anything!" Polly said. "And isn't that the wrong question?"
Austin sighed. "What you need ta understand is that some people have--"
"You haven't had any luck with it lately so you figured I'd have found what it was I wanted and you would steal it!" she snapped, knowing her cousin far too well. "Well too bad for you, I didn't have hold on it long enough for it to find what I was looking for!"
Jordan blinked, then grinned as she turned to Todd. "You hear that?"

Todd turned his attention to Jordan, unable to help the grin that he was wearing. "So it leads you to what you want most?" He felt the urge to look at the compass again, but the idea of it even being out made him feel like the second pirate would know he had it. "W-well then why does it just keep spinning for me?" His grin turned down a notch as he pondered this idea. " But that would explain why she wants it so bad..."

"Maybe you should try telling it what you want?" Jordan asked.
"So who's your new friends?" Austin asked Polly, changing the subject. "You got a boyfriend now?" He sounded extremely amused by that idea. "The poor blighter. Which one is it?" He looked from Todd to Jordan, then narrowed his eyes on Todd and moved forward. "Do I know you?"

"Maybe....But what do I want..." He glanced at Jordan with a sheepish smile," I can't decide. Maybe that's why it won't stop spinning. You have any idea what you want?" But his curiousity would have to wait as he felt the other pirate's attention turn to him.
If Todd's ears were real, they would have been planted flat against his head in fright. He glanced at Jordan again then back at Austin, figuring it was indeed him the pirate was talking to him. "I, uh, no?" He was pretty sure he had never met this guy before.

"Reeeeallly," Austin said, his eyes narrowed on the fox boy. Then he looked down at Jordan. "You," he said thoughtfully. "Are you her boyfriend?"
"Oh yeah," Jordan drawled as she crossed her arms over her chest. "A dwarf and a pirate, it's a match made in heaven."
Austin blinked. "You're a dwarf?"
The distraction was too good to pass up and Polly grabbed for Todd's hoodie, planning on dragging him away as fast as possible.

Todd tried his best not to fidget under the other pirate's stare, his hands wringing nervously around the compass in her pocket. What if he knew he had it? What would he do to get it? Would he-
But his train of thought was cut off as Todd felt his hoodie being tugged, and in his daze he followed the tag, grateful to not be under the other pirate's gaze anymore. So he went willingly where he was being tugged and couldn't help but mumble a thanks, regardless if she meant to help him or herself.

It was dirty, and she knew it, but for some reason Austin tended to intimidate other kids. She wasn't sure why, but she wasn't above using it. She tugged him around the corner, holding out her hand as she turned to face him.
"If you don't want him coming after you, you better just hand over the broken compass," she told him. "It's not going to do you any good, and he'll get bored with the dwarf soon enough and follow us."

Todd's hands continued to wring the compass nervously as the girl's attention was back on him. He glanced from her open hand to her face, still wondering if he should trust this pirate girl. But she had a point, he really didn't want that other pirate coming after him. Todd could run fast, even in his second form, but he had an idea that the pirate would find him somehow. They were crafty like that.
With a sigh he fished his hands out of his pocket, inspecting the compass one last time before handing it over to the girl. " Here, if he's after it so bad I don't want it..." He still wanted it, but he didn't want to deal with the other pirate kid.

"Good decision!" she said before grabbing the compass and running away as if her tail were on fire. She got it! She got it and Austin was still occupied with the dwarf!
Life was GOOD!
