True, people didn't just disappear into thin air and Cordelia was most definitely still around, just in a different form now. Ever so slowly, the smoke began to coil on itself, gradually growing in size. A low disembodied hiss shook through the dark cloud before making its way to Varun's ears. The smoke soon followed suit and snaked its way towards the Leviathan. She wasn't finished with him just yet.

Meanwhile, a frantic purple haired woman had been driving all over the isle in desperate search of her Frei. She'd awoken this morning to an unusual quietness enveloping the house, but not understanding her own uneasiness, the Brit had simply ignored it. It was always quiet after all, aside from a few cries from Cordelia from time to time. The lack of that for sometime was what alerted the woman to finally checking on her ward.

It didn't take a genius to connect the dots what with the half dismantled room and the second story window left wide open. Cordelia had obviously escaped while in a fit of rage. Ebony sighed heavily as she nudged the accelerator just a bit more while weaving in and out of traffic. Hopefully she'd find the girl soon before something horrible happened.

The hiss came first, followed by a cloud of smoke that seemed to have a mind of it's own. Varun replied with a hiss of his own, floating backwards and beating his wings wildly in a frantic attempt to get the smoke off. He snapped his jaws and bared teeth, neck prickling as he attempted posture. A very strange thing, trying to prove he was more manly than a female, but this one just wouldn't let up. There was something wrong with her.

Or was there something wrong with him?

No time for thinking, Varun spun around and forced his way through the crowd, shoving folks out of the way if they didn't clear the path quickly enough. Perhaps he could outrun the smoke cloud. Diving headlong into the clearing, the slightly-delusional Raevan did not look around his surroundings; his eyes were only for Cordelia. It was unfortunate, that, because the only place the people didn't walk was the street and if the redhead wasn't careful, he might end up roadkill.

Varun could flap those fishy wings as much as he wanted, he could float as fast as he could, but the smoke still pursued him. Like the night she'd attacked Rivener, Cordelia had unconsciously shaped her black masses into the shape of a snake and utilized it to scare the few unfortunate Gaians who got caught in between her and her prey. People began screaming and running everywhere for safety, causing wide spread panic. All the while the Basilisk slithered fluidly through the throngs, gaining speed as she nipped just at the ribbon end of the Leviathan. Just a little more and she'd have him.

A vibrant violet car slammed on its brakes as an equally colorful torso floated right in front of it. The screams had distracted Ebony just long enough that she was lucky to have been slowing down when the Raevan jumped before her. Wait, a Raevan? Grey eyes blinked slowly as her mind tried to catch up with what was going on as she looked dumbfounded at the red Frei. What was he doing just floating about in the street like that? The Brit rolled her window down and poked her purple head out, "Hey! Are you all right? Where's your guardian?"

Part of her might have recognized that familiar vehicle and its driver, but right now that part was a very small portion compared to the greater one pushing her forward swiftly then. All Cordelia could think was how perfect this moment was for her to strike. With her prey distracted, the smoke snake launched herself directly at the male. Finally! She would have her sweet revenge!

Varun blinked owlishly, attention ripped away from the game of cat and mouse (a game the Leviathan was not about to admit he was losing) by the sound of screeching breaks and a woman's voice. It was not HIS woman, but she was definitely talking to him. Face deceptively passive, the aggression seemed to roll out of Varun like water as he stared back at the Brit, equally as dumbfounded. What was she doing? Tipping his head sideways, he turned the rest of his torso to face the stranger as he flicked his wings.

"Rattlewings. She is-"

Whatever the seasonal Frei had to say was lost when the cloud of smoke sprung forward, knocking into the Leviathan with considerable force. A maddened roar ripped from the Frei, a sound so deep and so loud it might have been thunder crashing through the sky. He shook wildly, hostility flooding his senses as he struck wildly, snapping at anything that moved near him. It proved ineffective against the smokescreen and Varun shot backwards, green eyes alight as he moved himself behind the car. He could not fight her, but he would not lose to her.

The Leviathan did not lose to anyone as long as he was still drawing breath.

Rattlewings? Ebony raised a brow in confusion. What was that? The Raevan was just about to give her a complete explanation when her view of him was abruptly distorted, a heaping mass of black swallowing up his vivid autumn kaleidoscope. At first the woman wasn't sure what to make of it while the Frei thrashed around wildly, trying without success to fight off the dark cloud that seemed to have a mind of its own. The sight conjured up a memory of Rivener zipping around her driveway trying to escape her Raevan's vaporous form with similar futile attempts.

"CORDELIA?!" she shouted in surprise. The Brit hadn't expected to find her so easily, yet she hadn't been expecting to find her attacking another of her kin again. What was with the Basilisk and assaulting people? Ebony wished now more than ever that the girl would speak and give her some insight to the logic behind the madness. Although, she was pretty sure there was no logic at all since she was infected with the virus.

She threw the car into park and jumped out, not caring much whether she received a ticket or not. Hell they could impound the damn thing for all Ebony cared right then. Her charge and the life of the red male Frei was higher priority.

Cordelia ignored his roars and kept on him, clinging to him like lint to clothes. She slowly constricted herself about him and gave a loud, roaring hiss of her own. He would finally pay for his crimes against her and then the female could be left in peace. Onyx tendrils crept to cover his mouth and snuff out his miserable life.

But she was far too slow with the chill in the air going against her. So it certainly did not help when a fresh, new batch of cold suddenly hit her smokey body. The tendrils seized up in pain as Cordelia screamed. Again came that blast of cold accompanied once more by a blood curdling scream. This happened over and over again until the snake girl was writhing in pain on the ground, her body finally finding its true form. Yet, parts of her still remained in a smokey state, but at least she was no longer attacking Varun. Ebony on the other hand was left standing there panting with a dripping CO2 fire extinguisher.

"A-are...are you okay?" she asked the Leviathan after a few minutes of catching her breath. The whole time her grey eyes never drifting too far from her charge.

Varun continued to roar and scream like the monstrosity he was in a past life, writing wildly as the smoke continued to inhibit him. It was blinding, disorienting, choking. Before the Leviathan had a chance to formulate a new plan (a plan beyond wild strikes and crazed howls), something cold hit him and he skirted away. By the time the strange sensation had passed, Rattlewings was on the ground, across from her was the stranger from the car.

Snorting and throwing his head up, the Raevan shuddered. That woman had hurt Rattlewings! He should defend her! But on the same token, would the dark Raevan just come after him again?

Hands flying to his head, the seasonal Frei shook his head as he continued to back pedal. "Away. Away now. Enough of this madness. This is madness!" Varun shifted and for the second time in his life, turned his back to a losing battle and fled. He could not fight a female. He just couldn't.

"HEY! WAIT!" Ebony shouted as the unknown Raevan speed away from them. Realizing that he wasn't coming back, the Brit simply sighed and looked painfully towards her ward. A head of violet shook as a means to cope with the strange events unfolding. She sure hoped Kyou found a cure soon.
