Oh, right. The prom. How had he forgotten about that? Must have been because she hadn't mentioned it before. He'd decided if she didn't, he wasn't going to. It didn't matter to him if they went, and he worried if he brought it up she might feel obligated. But that all seemed silly now. Every girl wanted to go to the prom. "I'm sure they'll let us all go, and of course we'll be there. You'll be the prettiest girl in the place."
The date would be before any school dance, so he figured it was best to try and work those details out first. "As for the date, is there anywhere in specific you want to go?"

Another smile and she hugged him tightly. "Thank you~!" Elke had really wanted to go to prom, but when Avery didn't ask first, she had been a little worried it meant he didn't want to go. Now he was saying he did, and that - well, that meant time looking at prom dresses on the internet instead of studying geometry had not been at all wasted.
Which was good, really, she'd gotten a B- on the test.
"Um, do you want to go see a movie? I don't know if there are any good ones out, though..." Elke didn't watch TV much.

"It'll be fun," Avery said enthusiastically. He didn't want her to feel like he'd only agreed to it because she wanted to go, no matter if it was really the case or not. "And... I don't know. We could always look at the listings, I guess."
Wasn't that movie with the glitter vampire coming out soon? Girls liked glitter and vampires, right?

"Let's look some up and meet up again tomorrow," proposed Elke, because even though she was quite comfortable sitting right here with her boyfriend, she had to go to her lessons soon, which meant she had to go get her books. "I have to go to Italian," she said sadly, "I'm sorry I can't stay longer..."

Avery felt that down-trotted emotion that always filled the place Elly took when she was around, but he smiled and said convincingly, "It's alright. We've got obligations and all. We'll have a look tomorrow. Have fun in class, okay?"
But before she left, he pulled her closer by the arm and kissed her shamelessly. "And I love you."

Elke scowled, adding, "Signor Belli is a jerk. But at least I'm learning, right?" She'd have a mountain of homework, she thought, stuffing her camera into the bag and standing to leave. It'd be okay, though, since classes would be done and she wasn't that hungry so really she could work right through dinner. There was a kitchen if she got hungry later, right--
Sometimes Avery managed to surprise her, and the surprises were always pleasant. Like this kiss, which she prolonged for as long as she could without taking a breath; with a pleased flush and a smile, she answered, "I love you, too," and backed out the door with a little wave.
Signor Belli or not, life was good.
