Topher nervously drummed his fingers on the table. He was always apprehensive about his work. It wasn't every day that he asked help from someone or was under scrutiny from someone who wasn't a teacher. He highly doubted that Yvette would run around telling everyone that he was a mathematically challenged idiot who couldn't write to save his own life but there was still a part of him that wanted to rip the notebook back out of her hands and take his chances in class.
When her soft voice finally snapped him out that train of though, the smile that had suspicious dissolved why he was thinking finally began to show once more albeit much more reserved. "I guess the teacher will just have to tell me. He can read my writing pretty well. I think math teachers have this thing about writing that makes it easier to read. Hope I didn't mess up your pencil or something." Topher stretched, cracking his knuckles that had suddenly gone rigid.
"We should go do something on campus sometime. You help me too much for me to just pick up and leave. I'd love to see your sketches sometime too. You always make interesting things," Topher pulled at the corner of his notebook once again, knowing that his class would start fairly soon.

Apologetic as ever, Yvette squeaked out "I-i'm sorry!" There she had gone again, messing things up. Sure, Topher was being very nice about it, but she had disappointed him. She had attempted to teach him, failed to interpret his work, and then disappointed him with a lack of an assessment as to his work.
Her gaze began to drift down to the desk, as if she was now trying to avoid direct eye contact. She had really messed up, so now she was beginning to retreat in the various bad habits of hers that showed off her lack of confidence in herself. She almost seemed to slump a bit as she managed to quietly respond "M-m-my drawings aren't th-th-that interesting..."

Topher chuckled, straightening himself up and out of the chair in one swift motion before grabbing his workbook from the table.
"No no no. You did perfectly fine. I'm pretty sure I did it right."Topher's voice wavered a bit as he turned to leave. He would be late to class if he stayed there and chatted with her. Not that he wanted to stop. He just knew that he couldn't be late to class especially with homework that unreadable. The notebook shifted in his hands as his thoughts wandered. Gaze drifting back to her for a moment, a little thought bubbled in the back of his mind. How exactly would he repay her? Yvette always helped him with random crap and he never gave her much thanks besides saying so.
Maybe it was time to show he really did appreciate all the help.
Stopping as his toes, the teen spun quickly around towards her again. "Why don't you come up to my dorm after school sometime? I finally got that battery powered TV from my parents. It works pretty darn well if I do say so myself. It's got at least 50 channels which is pretty good for battery. Bring your sketches though. They're much more interesting than TV in my opinion." With that, Topher waved to her and hurried towards the exit, hoping that there would be enough time to get to class.

Before Yvette could even attempt to reply to his requests, he was gone. Was he just trying to make her feel better about her work, or did he really mean what he said? She blinked slowly, still staring semi-blankly at the entrance to the study area. It took a moment or ten, but she eventually returned to reality and once more resumed her work with her assignments. Unlike Topher, she didn't wait until last minute to finish her homework.
