She nodded with a smile. "Yes, a cello. I had thought of trying the violin, but as beautiful as the sound was, it wasn't what I wanted." Taking the statue she looked it over and nodded in approval. "It's quite wonderful. I've always had a thing for statues, well the smaller ones really. Maybe one day I can have you make me one?"
She paused a moment, then shook her head. "Only if you want to of course. I wouldn't want you to do anything you don't want to, after all."

"OH! I could definitely make you one!" Avvie grabbed the bear and placed it back on the newspaper. Then she reached for Melody's hands and shook them both. "That is what friends do!"
Oh, she was giddy with excitement. No one had ever asked her to make them a model before. Only ever did they ask for pictures or paintings. No one cared about Avalon's little figurines.
"That would be lovely, lovely, lovely!" Her voice was near shrill with excitement. She rushed over to her desk and rummaged through a drawer and produced a sketch pad.
"What would you like? Let's brainstorm!" Avalon giggled.

Having not quite expected to make the girl so happy, Melody decided that to brainstorm wouldn't be such a bad thing. After all Gran had said that there was more to life then music, so perhaps this was good to be trapped in a room with a giddily hyperactive girl who loved art. The ganguro girl smiled and moved to take a seat on the bed.
"Well, what kinds of statues do you do? Just animals? Or other things as well?"

Avalon sat beside Melody on the bed, her legs resting on her computer chair that sat idly at her desk. She opened the sketchbook onto her lap and pulled one of the note-toting markers from her vest pocket. She scrawled the name Melody at the top of a blank page.
"Of course I do more than animals!" Avvie pulled the bottom drawer of her desk open with one of her feet.
The drawer protected many of Avvie's smaller figurines, ranging anywhere from a few centimeters to about a foot tall. There were flowers, animals, fish, buildings, planets, tools... so many different little statuettes. They all rested on a sapphire silken pillow, matching the ribbons she had received for the craftsmanship on many of the figures.
"Take your pick. I can do it all!" Avalon smiled and looked to Melody for guidance.

She thought for a moment, there were so many things she could have this girl do art wise and yet nothing came to mind. Well, one thing did and she wasn't sure if it was something Avvie could do. "How well can you do people?"

Avvie put a finger to her lip in deep thought.
"People, I can do them...." She started, "But, they always come out a bit cartoony." She laughed. "They are cute!"
She scooted off the bed and went to her bookshelf, she pulled a character from behind a couple books.
"It is a self portrait! It is me!" She handed over the adorable chibi-like Avalon to Melody.

"It's adorable," she smiled, glancing it over before handing it back. "But no, cartoon-y is fine. I was mostly just wondering, if I gave you a picture, if you could do one of my Gran."

"Your gran?" Avvie tried to hold a professional face, but she couldn't help but squeal at the opportunity. "That... Would... Be... ADORABLE!" Avalon was nodding manically.
"Definitely, definitely, definitely!" Avalon leaped on her bed and scribbled the name Gran under Melody's name in the sketchpad. "This is going to be so perfect."

Blushing brightly, she tried not to look too surprised. "Would you like me to go get a picture of her for you? So you know what work with?" She knew exactly where she had a good one that could be used as a reference.

"Certainly!" Avvie hopped up and opened the door for Melody. "I will be right here when you return!" The spazzy girl wavered the drawing pad that was still held firmly in her hand.
"Hurry back, I can't wait to see your cute Gran." Avalon cooed with a c**k of her head.

Nodding she left the room and moved for her own with a small smile. Opening her door she shut it, then glanced around. Should she use the one on the corkboard maybe? Moving over to her bed, she peered at the pictures and then shook her head. No, that one wouldn't do at all. With a nod to herself she backed up enough to kneel down to the ground, smoothing her skirt under her knees, then pulled out one of the many plastic containers she used for storage. The difference was that this one was all black and it couldn't been seen through.
Opening it's lid she pulled out a binder that held several sheets of music then opened it to pull out a photo that was in the protective plastic. Putting everything back as it was, she took a moment to touch the picture then quickly stood and moved back for the room next door, giving a gentle knock upon it's door.
"Avalon, I've returned."

Avalon cracked the door wide enough to peek her little face out. She grinned widely.
"What's the password?" She singsonged before opening the door wide enough to reenter the room.

"Password?" blinking the blonde tilted her head. "I... don't know?" However when the door was opened enough for her enter she did so, picture held to her chest. "Sorry I took so long, I couldn't figure out which one I wanted to use."

"That is fine." Avvie smiled. She held up her sketchbook to show Melody what she had done in the couple minutes she had been left alone.
A little sketch of an elderly woman in a wheelchair had appeared in the corner of a blank page, probably the one behind the page reserved for Melody's gran.
The woman in the picture was sitting prim and proper with her fingers laced in her lap. Her hair hung loosely about her shoulders, no bangs, just long locks that framed her face. She wore a long sleeved shirt with a ruffly fringe turtleneck. There was little flowers printed on the blouse. A long skirt hung down to her ankles and from the looks of the feet, she wore pointed ankle boots with untied laces that hung beneath the foot rests of the wheelchair. The woman's face was scrunched into a smile, mimicking that of Avalon's own wide grin.
Avvie beamed up at Melody. "This is my gram."

She smiled and sat down, picture still held to her chest. "Your Gram is lovely." Then, after a moment's hesitation, she held out the photograph. In it was an elderly woman who looked a lot like her. They had the same hair style, though Melody's grandmother wore hers down and it curled around her shoulders and well down her back and eye color.
In the picture it was a full body picture, her Gran wearing a lovely dress, that had her and a much younger Melody out in the gardens under some Sakura trees.
"This is my Gran."
