hehe, I always thought it was because of all the gang activity that the news tells of the L.A. area although I don't think there is too much in the capital (except for Oak Park) but then I could always be wrong hehe I love the interesting debates like these xp

I'm from 'T-town' a place surrounded by freeways where there is nothing to do, normaly were friendly but watch out because we like to get high and ******** around a lot so if me or someone I know throws eggs at your car, were just bored 3nodding

heh, maybe they're less on-edge because they're not so tightly packed, but Northern Californians are hardly nice. They're still overprivelged snobby douche bags
or maybe that's just sacramento. and berkely. and davis.

Probably havne't run into enough people to start generalizing eh? We have our fair share of nice and mean people. Some people are nice but are having crappy days, some are just "tough guys".

dyeboy5150 to tell you da truth, everyone in So Cal is an a*****e, or at least in San Bernadino, but I don't blame them, we live in the a*****e of the U.S.A Gee, thanks. neutral There's a bunch of assholes in SoCal, mainly because of some of the richer areas. Trust me; try living near Coto de Caza.

people in the north aren't as concieted as people in the south?
umm cuz it's colder in the north and it's warm in the south where people get to show of their bodies in tiny clothin... plus there's LA... idk. im just guessin...

Well in general, Californians (at least the ones that get sunshine all year) would be happier, sunshinier people than those in, let's say, the East Coast.

Nor Cal people tend to be more rednecks, especially the norther you go.
Also, so cal people are generally always busy, rusing from one place to another, trying to get everything done.
But I dunno, there are douche bags up here too, most everyone at my school is one in some way. sweatdrop gonk

Mad Migy 9 Well, I wouldn't say you were actually in NorCal so much as central cali. i think thats true alot of the people up north are bitchy and the ones in South are of the most part rich and conceded i live in the middle and have relatives on both sides so ive seen it all i personally think that middle is the nicest sure there are some assholes but like alot of people said theres some everywhere but yah just move to middle cali i love it here

Two Tone Charlie I live in the southern-ish region of the High Desert. I travel down to the southern Califronia region ( Pasedena, Fontana, Corona, ect.) for concerts and the like. I have noticed that these people are extremely arrogant and inconsiderate. However i was up north recently ( Monteray, San Luis Obisbo, Frisco) for fun and vacationing, and noticed these people have a more open, wrm, and friendly persona to them. Now I know people act differently. But why is it that people from Nor Cal are so much friendlier than people in So Cal, in general? I moved from the SF Bay Area down to the LA area to go to school and it was total culture shock. Racial tensions were higher, drug use was higher (people actually smoked pot inside the main building of the English department...I mean, really people, that's tacky 0_o), and, well, lets not forget LA-style drivers xd The racial tensions are what I found really weird (not to say that we don't have those up north....). I had a pretty mixed group of friends of north - various Asians, african-americans, mexicans, and others....when I went to school in SoCal it was quickly apparent that people at my school didn't much step outside of their comfort zones. I would walk around campess and it was very, very clear that the african-americans hung out here, the Asians there, those of middle eastern decent over there....it was a sort of weird experiance. I also found that people (while nice) were largly not interested in making friends with me if I was outside of their group. I was so happy when I graduated and moved back up north.

thanks to movies, the media, and now that gay show the OC, everyone where i live (manhattan beach, redondo beach, hermosa, PV) think everyone worships them. i like to piss them off any possible way cuz i can. localism with the surfers pisses me off and i heard it gets worse down south. AND THEY POLLUTED MY OCEAN YOU DUMBASSES!!! *cough* ahem. thats all.

Aren't there a lot more hippies in the Bay Area? confused Isn't that why it's generally nicer? I also noticed that Berkeley ( I go to college there) seems really up on the whole "non-racial, accept everyone" thing. But where I live, West Covina, people just seem to get along. It's true that there isn't a lot of racial intermixing but it isn't that. Yea, I think people are just a bit testier here 'cause of the the driving. No one really takes public transport here at all.
Of course I shouldn't say anything 'cause in high school I was part of a group that called ourselves "Chinatown" even though half of us were white, a few hispanics, and a couple half-and-halfs. blaugh

i've lived in both southern and northern cali.. (currently northern)
southern cali - particularly the l.a. area - fast-paced, crazy, crowded... traffic conditions are insane. possible cause of irritation.
northern cali - melow, chill, plus we all have a common enemy - THE NEVERENDING RAIN!! biggrin
i like both though.. i live near berkeley and i don't find the locals snobby at all, just a bit *too* socially conscious at times.
