The cop couldn't help but laugh out loud. "Prom dress! Why Namini, I think you've nailed him. Prom dress is the perfect way to describe him. He's just so catty." Chuckling softly to herself, she shook her head. "I mean, if you want to bake, we can help? But really, you don't have to trouble yourself, I'm a simple girl. Coffee is all I need to get me through the day." She paused. "If I try to touch his hair, he usually tries to remove my hand." With a wry grin, she glanced back over at Hazeline.

"Yeah, that's what I thought, but..." Kinsey shrugged and shook her head, a wide grin spreading over her face at the idea of a 'phase'. "It's taken up a strange mix with some sort of insecurity. He gets aggressive with almost any male we meet. He's a really weird guy; with girls, he's totally sweet. I caught him dancing in the park with Sai'da when he was young. Younger, I guess. He's still quite young." A wicked grin spread over the woman's face. "Still believes in cooties."

Varun, on the other hand, was not as nearly delighted with the company as his guardian was. While he was thoroughly baffled by the tears streaming down Prajna's face, he was equally as perplexed by the way Xiu felt he could order the Leviathan around. Fins snapped out to the side and his teeth bared, quickly turning a shoulder to put himself between the aggressor and his friend.

Still, he released Prajna, as he originally intended before the pale Frei decided to intervene. Nevertheless, something inside Varun couldn't allow his friend to continue crying. Floating a few steps back, he tipped his head and let the flame have some space, retracing mental steps as he tried to figure out where he went wrong. He was just protecting Prajna! Where was the harm in that?

"Why the sadwater?" he asked quietly, voice the gentlest it had ever been while the Leviathan intentionally ignored Xiu.

"It's alright. I've been meaning to use up some of my batters anyways, plus it's the perfect wintertime snack" Namini reassured Kinsey, a warm smile taking over her features. She took out a small box of cookie mix, a bowl, and a spatula and handed them to the dark skinned girl. "If you could just mix this with some water from the sink, I'll get the eggs and begin the coffee. Hazeline, if you could please fill the teapot with some water and put it on the stove, we can really get things moving." Namini hustled about energetically, wondering if it was the Christmas season closing in that was giving her the sudden burst of energy. She returned to the topic at hand,

"That's so funny to hear Hazeline; My brother is the complete opposite. He doesn't mind undressing at all, especially in front of women. He got over the cootie phase reallll quickly when he was a teen, but maybe that's cause he had me around?" she giggled, preparing the coffee pot. The brunette paused, lost in thought for a second, before turning to Kinsey, "David and I are very ...cautious when it comes to Prajna's definite gender but maybe..Varun has been able to pick up on it? Or maybe..Xiu? Have either of your Freis treated Prajna in a gender-specific way? Lately, with this..cold of Prajna's, it's been behaving a bit..femininely. Prajna used to be more masculine in my eyes, but now, it cries often, over little things, and David keeps calling it overtly-girly now.."

Namini recalled the night where Prajna had struck her and unconsciously raised a hand to caress her cheek. Quickly, she put a smile back on for her guests. No need to worry them.

Prajna seemed to echo Namini's thoughts, attempting to explain its behavior but stumbling poorly. Once released from the Levianthan's warm but haunting embrace, the Star floated behind Xiu and kept its eyes on its crimson-haired friend. Varun seemed so..pained and yet was still trying so hard to understand Prajna. Prajna lowered its tearing eyes for a moment as it clung instinctively to Xiu. His hair smelled nice and the redhead found itself dozing off from the sweet air, something lighter than the unique seawater-y scent of Varun. That's when it was brought back to reality, a lo rumble still in Xiu's throat. Prajna looked back at Varun, trying to fight back frightened tears as it choked, " Prajna is..sorry Varun. Does not mean to.. cry. Just. ..Xiu is here too, Varun. Prajna is happy with Xiu AND Varun, yes? Varun is happy with Prajna yes? Not happy with Xiu? But must be.. if not..then.."

Prajna stiffened again and hid deeper into Xiu's white locks, averting is gaze from Varun again.

"If Varun is not happy, Prajna is cry. Lots, sorry.But..because...Rivener. Varun is Rivener when is not happy and..Prajna does not like...Rivener. Does not like Rivener-Varun."

Hazeline laughed. “Cooties? That rumour is still around?” The young woman shook her head with disbelief. “You would think that kids would come up with a better excuse these days. I guess certain things don’t change,”

Hazeline then reached forward to accept the teapot. Filling it with water, the guardian listened as Namini talked about her brother; chuckling softly at the mention of Namini’s brother showing off in front of the women. “Most guys are egocentric,” Hazeline agreed as she placed the pot on the stove. Turning it on, the guardian considered Namini’s question. “Prajna’s gender? Well…it’s rather hard to say…isn’t it?” Hazeline replied thoughtfully. “Prajna does look like a rather feminine boy…but err…Xiu’s not too masculine as well. However, Xiu seems to be treating Prajna as a girl?” Hazeline ventured a guess. “Although I don’t recall Xiu acting any different around guys…,”

Varun’s act of blatantly ignoring the white frei was getting to Xiu’s nerve. Flaring his wings, the white frei was probably about to say something reckless when Prajna left Varun to float behind Xiu and cling to him. The white frei softened. “It’s alright, Prajna…w-we are both here….right,” Xiu asked, looking enquiringly at Varun.

Kinsey took the items from Namini, deciding to keep her disastrous kitchen record to herself. If all she had to do was add water and the younger guardian did the rest, they would be fine. Besides, her errors usually came with actually cooking or baking, when heat was involved. She could do this. Emptying the mix into the bowl, she added the indicated amount of water and began to stir.

Glancing up at Hazeline's comment, she grinned, rubies twinkling beneath her eye. "I have younger brothers. Hoyt's only ten." She considered the question of Prajna's gender. "Well, at first, Varun definitely treated Prajna like a male. But I assume that's because he met it in the men's bathroom." Saying he sensed something would be a complete stretch. "Though lately, and especially right now, I think he's been treating Prajna as a female." She hesitated. "Varun's seriously aggressive with other guys, so it's probably better he assumes Prajna is a girl..."

Varun watched the flame flit away, clinging like a barnacle to the oldest of the trio. Something inside him twisted and coiled and the low voice inside his mind hissed mine mine mine mine mine like some sort of mantra. Scowling softly, the redhead shook his head wildly until the thought was lost somewhere in his skull and he could think again. He caught Prajna with a dark gaze, only to get tears and a retreat in response. This was not the Prajna he knew.

About to agree with Xiu resignedly, as it was not in the leviathan's current nature to harm those that were his (nor was it now, but it was just an especially strong urge now), Prajna leveled him with an uncanny insult.

"Rivener!?" he gasped, jaw hanging open as the redhead lost all composure. "...Rivener? Varun is not Rivener. Varun. Is not. Rivener," he insisted wildly, eyes wide and fins flared. He floated backwards, holding his hands up as he shook his head and started to tremble. "No, no no no. No Rivener."

Kinsey glanced up at the rumbling, color draining from her face as she heard what her charge was prattling on about. "...maybe I should go intervene, if the other two want to see Rivener, or something. Rivener...kind of kicked Varun's a**. Knocked him out cold..." She set the bowl down and wiped her hands.

"I AM NOT RIVENER!"

"...s**t."

Just as Namini had bent into the refridgerator to retrieve some eggs, the brunette heard a suspicious shuffle in the conversation..and an uneasy tension suddenly in the air. The brunette listened but was only able to catch an announced roar and a hurried explanation from Kinsey. She dropped the eggs onto the floor and looked up. "Varun's seriously aggressive with other guys.." Namini recalled Kinsey saying just moments beforehand and her cerulean eyes fluttered across the Nao apartment towards a dangerous looking scene. Varun, once glorious in a calm, regal manner, was now glorious in the vision of a king prepared for battle. His fins were sprawled out as wide as they could be while his eyes seemed to be cutting directly into the intimidated Freis across from him. What happened?

"Prajna? Xiu?!" Namini squeaked as she leaned against the counter, a part of her hesitant to intervene just yet. Maybe..they'd work it out?

Prajna's grip on Xiu's pristine robes tightened as it watched Varun's naturally aggressive but beautiful features twist into a terrifying expression of absolute rage. Like something straight out of a cartoon, the Levianthan's piercing emeralds seemed to darken and then narrow in disgust, its lips curled downwards, prepared to let loose some kind of ear-splitting roar of the ages. And Prajna was right. At first, the words came out like hisses, choked whispers and frantic curses but then it was clear Prajna had hit a nerve.

"I AM NOT RIVENER!" Varun screamed, all fins flared, his head thrashing his glorious crimson hair about. Prajna, for the first time in its existence, felt fear and..it was overwhelming. Tears streamed down the Frei's pale cheeks and for only a moment did its grasp relax against Xiu's back. It did not know what to do. There was no going back now. And yet..part of the Star still felt tied to its friend. It could not drop the matter so easily. It had to get Varun to see!

Against all of its instincts screaming to get away from Varun, or rather...get rid of him, if Prajna could, the Inverted Flame released its grip on Xiu's clothing and floated beside him, rather than behind him. Prajna reached a hand out towards Varun, its hand shaking as it tried command its voice piercing and ...cold, like ice, "Varun. Do not scream at Prajna. Prajna means not ...Rivener. Do not scream if want Prajna listen. Just..DO NOT BE LIKE RIVENER. Listen to Prajna!"

As soot-colored wings flared out, a stance matching its friend's, the Frei hoped it had at least intimidated its friend into a somewhat reasonable mindset for even a moment. A moment of silence and understanding was all Prajna needed. ...Right? Prajna couldn't resist: It turned its wide, tear-rimmed eyes to Xiu.

Hazeline hurried after the two guardians to see what the commotion was about. Kinsey had mentioned something about Varun being beaten by Rivener and apparently that touched a sore spot somewhere on the red headed frei. For one, his roar was nothing like what Hazeline had ever heard. Stopping mere centimeters from where Namini stood, Hazeline watched the scene with a kind of rooted horror. Varun looked simply livid and…Prajna was hiding itself behind Xiu. Hazeline’s fear went out for her raevan. It wasn’t as though Xiu was a strong raevan to begin with and now it appeared as though he was facing Varun.

Kinsey’s words about Varun being aggressive with males came bounding back and without realizing it, Hazeline was biting her nails worriedly.

Xiu meanwhile was eyeing the enraged male warily; as one would to another who has lost it. Varun’s initial soft mutterings about not being Rivener which slowly gained momentum to a final loud roar made Xiu winced. Flaring his wings, Xiu floated back a few feet from the Leviathan. It would not do to enter into an unnecessary fight with such a being. Besides, Prajna seemed shaken by the whole incident and it simply would not do to worry the star frei further.

Prajna however, seemed to have gained courage as it floated to ‘stand’ beside Xiu before confronting Varun. Then, as though tired with all then tension that was building up, Prajna had turned its tear stained face to Xiu. Xiu’s first instinct was to hug the star frei, to offer it comfort, but Xiu knew better than that. It was obvious from Varun’s previous reaction that it was possessive of Prajna. Hugging and comforting Prajna would be as close to poking a sleeping lion in the eye as any. Instead, Xiu merely extended his hand to give Prajna a reassuring pat on the shoulder. This seemed like an internal fight between Varun and Prajna and less he intervened the better.

Varun appreciated Xiu's unwillingness to get involved much more than he would ever voice. He did not, however, appreciate Prajna's attempt to intimidate him. The leviathan's nerves only wound up tighter and the snarl only curled further on his lips, baring sharp fangs attached to a very powerful set of jaws. He would not be threatened. He would not be insulted, not by a friend, of all people.

The white Frei backed off, a further nod to his wisdom (and perhaps to his maturity), and Varun was left to face off with Prajna. He did not want to face off with Prajna. This wasn't right. This wasn't right! There was an anger deep inside the sea monster, something bubbling and black, righteous and full of fury. It wanted to get out. It wanted to hurt as it had been hurt and very breifly, the thought of striking the insolent redhead flickered across Varun's mind.

He shouldn't.

Varun snarled. No. He did not follow rules.

...but he couldn't. Prajna was his, his to take care of, his to spend time with. Hadn't the whole fight with Rivener started because he had been treating females poorly? Varun's wings relaxed a fraction and the killer instinct drained out of him instantly, leaving the Frei suddenly exhausted.

"I am not Rivener," he insisted quietly. "I do not hurt like Rivener. I have..." Whatever he had, Varun did not have the word for it. And with that, the Frei backed off, hovering a few feet back.

In the background, Kinsey swallowed nervously. The situation had diffused without intervention, which was very good, but...but it was still incredibly alarming to watch Varun go off like someone had lit a fuse. The cop licked her lips and smiled apologetically, blush hidden mostly by her darker skin. "...I'll bring him home," she said quietly, turning towards her charge again. It would do to allow him to start a fight.

"Varun, I think that's enough play time for today. Time to go..."

Prajna watched as a flurry of emotions washed over Varun's gorgeous features: rage, heartbreak, a decision. Prajna's wings fluttered back to a close as it wandered a few inches towards its friend, wondering what it should do. Prajna closed the gap a few more inches until it was almost close enough to place a hand on Varun's shoulder. That's when the Flame noticed Kinsey's presence and immediately withdrew itself. Cerulean eyes turned to the "audience" and frowned. Everyone..was so upset. Hazeline and Xiu both wore worried glances. Namini looked on the verge of tears. Kinsey..Varun..

"Excuse. Sorry." came the rushed whisper as Prajna's wings unfolded once more and guided the Flame back towards David's room, where it locked the door. It couldn't stand that room anymore. The looks of disappointment, the sadness. Prajna bit its lip hard as it fought back noisy tears. Namini stared from the tense Freis to the room Prajna had turned to as a last resort. Back and forth, her eyes wandered until she choked back tears, forcing a smile, "I..think that it is getting fairly late. I..I'm sorry to call an end to our little party so soon but..It is best."

Tears spilled over the teen's eyes as she headed towards the door.

“It’s alright, Namini…,” said Hazeline gently as she walked over to her charge. Hazeline could understand the young guardian’s need to be left alone after what had just occurred. Besides, it was clear that the visit was over. With Kinsey leaving with Varun, it was only proper that they took leave as well. “Xiu, it’s time to leave, alright?”

“Yes, Hazeline,” said Xiu meekly as he gave the room Prajna had locked itself in one final glance. “Goodbye, Namini,”
