"Really? I'll have to check that out when I have a chance." her eyes seem to brighten as Tessa spoke of her father. It wasn't much, but she was getting some where right? "Sound like your father has a rather fun job. Has he dug up anything historical?" her gentle smile seem to fade only for a moment.
Her mind went straight to her family, her parents...
Her little brother....
Shaking her head alittle, she swallows the lump that forms in her throat. Attempting to hide the sadness, all she could do was chuckle "No, my family is actually back in England. My parents wanted me to get a good education, that sadly I wasn't getting back home."

Melinda looks sad
=>
You have made Melinda sad
=>
YOU HAVE MADE MELINDA SAD YOU DESPICABLE FLESH SACK. YOU SHOULD BE SENT TO A PLACE WHERE NONE OF THE STREET SIGNS ARE LABELLED.
"Oh no, oh no, oh no," she said, a little under her breath, very anxious now. "My father. Is. Not important. Do you miss your family, Melinda? Do you miss your family terribly? I'm sorry, that's horrible. That is the worst. If there was a newspaper section for worst things, you would probably be in the newspaper."
She was tugging at her fingers and popping them out of the joint sockets now.

Melinda found herself chuckling as she shakes her head "In a newspaper? Goodness, I would hope not." her smiles was genuine as she reached down to pick up her backpack "Yes I miss my family alot, but I talk to them everyday. I get pictures everyday, and I get to hear their 'I love you' everyday. So beside them actually being here, its not to bad. Beside I'll get to see them soon, their suppose to come during christmas." pulling out a folder, she picks up the homework.
Tucking the homework into the folder, she tucks it back into her backpack "So Tessa, tell me more about what your father does. Does he get to travel alot?"

The conversation was nearing its end. She was very keenly aware that it was naturally over now that all the work was done, and depressed for it. But she had gotten to call Melinda Melinda, but that was balanced out by the fact that she had saddened her and would probably be reminded of this sadness every time she talked to Thessaly now. But she was chuckling -- that didn't really parse -- and she found herself dumb-tongued and mute as she neatly packed away everything in her bag.
"Yes," she said, and felt a little foolish; she and her father definitely didn't talk every day. "Yes, he does."
Pause.
Awkwardness.
Could not let the awkwardness go.
"I hope I get to tutor you again sometime! Thank you very much for putting up with me!"
Tessa Jones then turned tail and ran.
