The blood tasted bad. It was not normal. The frei winced as the Doctor tried to push him off but the frei still stubbornly held on; biting deeper to get a firm grip of this…evil being. It must be destroyed!
Red eyes narrowed as the Doctor insisted that the frei let him go and the frei growled in return. He was not going to let something that might be a threat to Hazeline go. But the Doctor was strong. Despite the wound, the Doctor was still struggling madly. He needed to bring the ‘human’ down soon or he’d lose his grip (admittedly with a mouthful of flesh).
The red rune pulsed and subconsciously, the blood components in the Doctor’s body began rearranging themselves; a lowering of a clotting factor here; an increase in blood plasma there; a decrease in overall blood pressure…
Soon, the Doctor should feel the effects of the change, dizziness, fatigue, and…with luck, the Doctor might even lose consciousness…

While still struggling to get Xiu off of him, Kyou saw Xiu's rune pulsed abnormally. What? Then a sudden wave of fatigue washed over him, his grip on the Frei's shoulder weakening. "What is happening?" he whispered weakly, but he was only answered with Xiu's red gaze. The scientist felt his breath becoming shallow, struggling to breath, his view was spinning, dizziness, his heart beating irregularly trying to pump blood.
Palpitation.
This is not good. Kyou didn't know why he was experiencing palpitation, is Xiu draining his blood? Is he bleeding too excessively? Or is this from his fear? One thing Kyou know for sure, he needed to get Xiu away. Fortunately for Kyou, Xiu is still a Frei.
With the last bit of strength and the Frei still holding on tight to his arm, Kyou lunged off the wall and pinned Xiu violently to the ground. The white Frei lost his jaw grip momentarily upon impact, but it was enough for Kyou to pull his arm away. With the injured arm pinning one of Xiu's arm to the ground, he raised his other arm. He sure hope this works. Swiftly and soundly, Kyou landed his palm down to Xiu's cheek, slapping him once hard hoping that will slap some sense into him.
"XIU!! Wake up!! I AM NOT YOUR ENEMY!!!!" he cried, his eyes wide with desperation.

The force of the fall and the impact of the Doctor as he slammed himself bodily into the frei was enough to cause the white frei to gasp an in an instant, the doctor had released himself from the frei’s grip. An injured hand had then pinned the white frei to the ground and…
The white frei’s eyes widen with shock as the hand of the Doctor came into contact with his cheek. Instantly a sharp pain followed by a dull numbing sensation was felt and Xiu snarled. How dare that …insolent creature hit him?!
Slender arms reached out and tried to push the Doctor off. No way was he going to tolerate something as foul as this!!! And to be pinned in such a manner!

Down below, the guardian was pacing restlessly. Hopefully the visit between Xiu and Lazarus would be short. It was…rather lonely down here.
And sudden sharp cry made the young woman jumped and as Hazeline turned to face the stairs, a loud thud was heard. Sufficiently panicked, Hazeline bounded the stairs two at a time to see…
“XIU!!” screamed Hazeline when she caught sight of her raevan being pinned to the ground and the bleeding arm of the Doctor. Xiu’s rune and eyes were red which meant…
“STOP IT! NOW!” commanded Hazeline with her heart thudding wildly.
And oddly enough, the frei stopped struggling but lay panting on the floor. Red eyes however, were still focused on the Doctor and a low growl was heard from time to time.

Gasping for air, Kyou's shoulder slumped as Xiu stopped struggling. His hands however were still firmly pinning both of the Frei's arms down though, just in case the Frei decided to attack him again.
"Hazeline, thank you... Xiu... he attacked me." Kyou said in between pants, his heart still thumping wildly trying to normalize the blood flow in his system again. "I think... he contracted the virus... Lazarus had." This he was pretty sure, Xiu's gaze just now, it was almost animalistic.
Seeing that Xiu haven't so much as budged since Hazeline's arrival, Kyou tentatively loosen his grip on the white Frei. It seems like Hazeline is the only one who could control the madden Frei. Maybe if she is around, Xiu wouldn't act as rashly. Raising up his hands for Xiu to see indicating he will not touch him or mean him anymore harm, the scientist stood up slowly. He had a lot of fate that Xiu could control this. Please, I don't want to contain another Raevan.

The frei growled as the Doctor took opportunity of Hazeline’s command to pin both his arms down. Red eyes gazed questioningly at the guardian before settling themselves firmly onto the Doctor once again.
“Xiu…attacked you?” exclaimed Hazeline as though in a daze. “But why?” Brown eyes shifted to the pinned frei who looked about ready to have a go at the Doctor’s neck. “But he- I mean…he has been a little grumpy lately but…he has never attacked anyone before…,”
The young woman gulped… “What triggered the reaction then?”
The loosening of the Doctor’s hands made the frei tensed and red eyes glared at the Doctor as though searching for a ploy. There was none. Slowly, the frei raised himself to what was probably a sitting height and continued to gaze at the Doctor with instinct driven hatred.
“He has bad blood,” said the frei simply. “He and Lazarus. They are the same,”
“Huh?” said Hazeline looking a little lost at her frei. Just what did Xiu mean by that?
“But Doctor,” said Hazeline looking at Kyou. “If he’s infected….w-what should I do? I mean…I don’t think chicken soup would help much…,”

Bad blood? Him and Lazarus being the same? Xiu's reaction when he saw Lazarus, or maybe it was something else in the room? That was when it dawned on him.
"The pentacle!" Kyou exclaimed, his body feeling a bit more energized as adrenaline coursed through his body from his realization of the situation. "Lazarus drew a pentacle in the room, Xiu saw it, that was when he got agitated." he explained to Hazeline. It all made sense. "As for why he attacked me... I think this is why." raising his hand, he touched the horns on his head. "Let's just say I don't have pure human blood." he said, smiling sheepishly.
Now that Xiu seemed to had regained some normal senses, Kyou released the tension from his body as he leaned onto the wall. He winced as the wound on his arm stung again, he had totally forgotten about the pain when he was struggling just now. Closing his eyes, he let out a heavy sigh, he is reluctant to do this, but it has to be done. "If he is infected, I think it is best if... he remained in the lab for the mean time." Kyou said, looking from Hazeline to Xiu. "This means that the virus is infectious, I don't want Xiu to infect any other Raevans. I would also like to keep an eye on him, maybe he could help me find a cure. Had he... come in contact with any other Raevans lately? Since his last visit here?"

At the Doctor’s explanation, Hazeline stared at the Doctor then to the disgruntled frei. Her frei was agitated because of things concerning the occult? So that was why the frei was behaving normally up till now. It wasn’t like you’d see occult signs and symbol everyday…
At the Doctor’s statement of having him remained the lab, the white frei looked visibly affronted. “ HERE? With you?! I’d rathe-“
“Xiu,” said Hazeline placing her hand firmly on the frei’s shoulder. “No,”
“But Hazeline!” exclaimed Xiu turning to face his guardian with just a trace of defiance across his features. “But the Doc-,”
The frei was silenced with a firm squeezed of the shoulder from Hazeline.
“He has met…Vyn, Domevlo, Tariel and…Varun… ,” said Hazeline quietly as she felt her frei tensed at the mention of those names. “I thought that he was alright…so I…brought him about,” admitted Hazeline looking guilty.
“But Doctor!” pleaded Hazeline looking at Dr. Kyou. “Must Xiu really be confined to the Lab? I-I mean…,”
Here the guardian faltered as the image of abound Lazarus came to mind.Was Xiu going to be treated in the same manner?
“H-He would be alright…right?”

Oh dear. Xiu had already came in contact with that many Raevans? Kyou pray to God that those Raevans wasn't infected as well, but seeing how easily Xiu contracted it from Lazarus, he is not keeping his hopes high.
"It's not your fault." Kyou said, shaking his head slightly as he saw Hazeline's guilty look. "You didn't know Xiu was infected at that time."
"However, I must insist that Xiu stay in the lab. Who knows what kind of symptoms he will show next? Lazarus had thus far been extremely aggressive, sometimes even delusional, thinking I am trying to do him harm. He even... threatened to kill me once." Kyou shuddered at the memory. "What if he suddenly decided to attack you? Or your family?" the scientist wondered out loud. "If he stayed, I promise I will find a cure to this infection, and he will be the first Raevan I will treat." he said, his gaze strong and determined.
But then, he understood Hazeline's concern. Kyou's eyes drifted in the direction of the barrier that had Lazarus contained within. Having their charge locked up without any freedom, it is something that any guardian would not wished to happen to their charge. "I understand your concern, if Xiu could promise that he will not attack me anymore, I can let him roam free in the lab. He can stay in one of the empty rooms while he is here. You could still come and visit him everyday."

“Me? Harm MY family? PREPOSTEROUS!” exclaimed Xiu rising up to glare at the Doctor. The white frei would not have hesitated to strike the Doctor across his face for his impudence but the firm grip of his guardian kept him in check. Instead, the frei contented himself with a wrathful glare at the Doctor.
Hazeline listened to the Doctor’s condition. Xiu would be allowed to roam free within the lab provided that he promised to not harm anyone. The guardian bit her lip. As much as she’d like to take Xiu home, the Doctor’s reasoning was justified. Xiu needed a cure and…although cruel, the offer was the best that the Doctor could give under these circumstances. “I-I understand…Doctor,” said Hazeline before turning to face her charge.
“Xiu…I-,”
“No, Hazeline! No,” exclaimed Xiu shaking his head. “I don’t want to!”
“Xiu…,” said Hazeline feeling her stomach tightened at her frei’s horror stricken face. “I want you to promise me tha-,”
“I won’t!” insisted Xiu backing away from his guardian. “You can’t make me, Hazeline!”
“Xiu, you are to stay here and…you must promise me that …for the duration of your stay in this lab; as long as you are not cured, you must never harm anyone. Regardless of whom or what they are. Understand?” said Hazeline with a tone of such finality that the white frei was knew that it was useless to argue with.
Grey wings drooped as the frei tried his best to keep his head up. “I-I promise…,” said the frei; his eyes gazing directly into his guardian’s thus sealing the deal. “I will not harm anyone, throughout my stay…as long as I am…not cured…,”

It pains Kyou to see what the virus is doing to the Raevans, the suffering and frustration they had to go through. For an instance, Kyou felt stricken with guilt. If he had been more organized, more careful, this wouldn't had happened. Now Lazarus had gone mad, Xiu is easily aggravated, who knows what other symptoms or stress the other infected Raevans are suffering from? Furthermore, Kyou is worried about the Raevan's guardians too.
Kyou wanted to extend an arm towards Hazeline, but Xiu still seemed hostile at him the moment and he doesn't want him aggravate him any more. "Thank you Hazeline, for understanding." Then he turned towards Xiu. "I'm sorry Xiu." he apologized, his hand still clutching to the wounds on his arm.
"If... Xiu don't want to stay on this floor." Kyou started, his eyes darting to the room where Lazarus was confined, and there is also all these heat and smoke. "He could stay in my room downstairs. I could just move upstairs temporarily and stay in Lazarus's room."

Xiu stared coldly at the Doctor as the Doctor made (in Xiu’s opinion) a scene at clutching his wounded arm; not at all pacified by the Doctor’s apologies.
When the Doctor offered Xiu his own room however, the raevan stiffened and practically glared the Doctor down with look of someone who was not only extremely offended but not buying the thoughtful gesture of the other as well.
What did the Doctor think he was doing? Trying to play the victim and offering the Frei his own room. Xiu growled. He’d rather tear a book than sleep in the Doctor’s room.
“No,” said Xiu flatly. “I do not wish to be placed in your room. The other room, the room where I was brought to with Rivener and Lazarus. I will have that,” said Xiu recalling Tsu’s office. There were books there and…the examination table could serve as a makeshift bed. For the time being.
“Would that be possible, Doctor?” asked Hazeline uncertainly. “I’m really sorry…my frei….Xiu… you shall find that he learns fast. He should be able to make himself useful around here,”
“And Xiu, you are to…help the Doctor when he asks of it, alright?” said Hazeline turning to her frei. “H-Handle the minor things, remove distractions so the Doctor can work in peace… I shall visit you daily and bring you uh…whatever it is you want to be brought over alright?”
“Yes, Hazeline…,” muttered Xiu; not at all pleased with the arrangement but if that meant that the Doctor could find the cure all the sooner, then the frei was going to ‘make himself useful’ just for that sake. Being quarantined here was just about as bad as being made to stay with savages. Xiu glared at the Doctor with disdain.

"Alright, alright, you could stay in Tsu's office." Kyou said, unconsciously backing away a little from Xiu's hostility. Oh dear, it is going to be a tough few days while Xiu is here. Kyou finding himself wonder if the white Frei will ever warm up to him.
"Y-yes you could help me do some of Lazarus's work, since he can't do them now." he took another worried glance towards the far end of the corridor. "It's just some simple routine work, checking and noting down tank temperatures and stuff. I'm sure he could pick up quickly by himself. By then he wouldn't even need to see me all the time!" And hopefully Xiu would prefer it that way, since he definitely do not want to aggravate him any further than he is. For a moment he wished Hazeline would stay over too.
"So, I'll uh... go unlock Tsu's office for Xiu. I'll need to grab the first aid kit too." he said, smiling apologetically as he started to move away. "You could move in anytime you like." With that, Kyou started to descend down the stairs, his hand still clutching onto his arm, the wounds stinging dully. Sighing, he wished he didn't lose too much blood, because he still need to stay up tonight to do more research on the virus.

Xiu growled softly at the retreating figure of the Doctor before turning to find Hazeline’s disapproving gaze staring back at him. The white frei flinched. The manner in which his guardian was looking at him made the white frei both ashamed and…rebellious. The Doctor was bad! the white frei wanted to say, to point out, but Xiu knew better than that. Folding his wings sadly behind his back, the white frei waited to hear what his guardian had to say.
“Xiu…,” began Hazeline hesitantly. “I will come to see you tomorrow alright? And the next day and…subsequent days probably but…you must do your part, help the Doctor out with the simple tasks, okay,”
“Alright, Hazeline. I got it,” said Xiu trying to smile. “You have…told me that already,”
“Haha…I did? Well, no harm in emphasizing,” said Hazeline sheepishly. “Take care, Xiu,”
And with that, the young woman gave her frei a quick hug. “You’ll get better, don’t worry,”
