"It's not about giving her a hard time, it's just about asking once." Seph didn't really see what the big deal about it was, even less if the two people weren't strangers. He saw it as a simple matter, not a hassle - it was probably more of a hassle not to know it.
Seph thought for a moment, thought about what he wanted to say. He knew what it was, but he didn't know if it was a good idea. Sara... after all, could barely seem to take care of anyone. But would the addition of another person do her good? A female one, at that? "You can come stay with me." He said it seriously, as if he wasn't just putting it out there for the sake of it. If she was really intent on getting away, then she would say yes. If she wasn't, she would reject.

The teen smiled slightly, but she could see the boy wasn't really grasping the concept of accepting a person for who they were, or at least who they wanted to be seen as. It certainly wasn't something the brew up a fight about or anything, so she just shrugged in a 'I suppose you're right' manner. Neutral. Vanyel was pretty good at being neutral and making as many in the party happy as possible.
His suggestion startled the smile off her face though, and she could glimpse in the slightest his meaning behind his words, being that he'd been giving her a bit of trouble already upon her determination. It was certainly sweet of him, and something she took seriously because the boy did not look to be a beat-around-the-bush type of fellow. But it wasn't so easy to simply move in with someone you didn't know. If it had perhaps been Amahte (who wouldn't have been nearly so polite she'd guess) or Kaoru, Vanyel would have accepted in an instance. She was intent to get away, at least for a little while until her nerves calmed and settled into place. "Are you sure it's alright with your mom or dad?" the teen asked hesitantly. She wasn't sure the boy had any type of say in the matter.

Seph didn't think much of the neutral response, that she was merely trying to avoid a confrontation. To him, after all, it was such a simple matter - he didn't see any reason why he would be wrong. But after all, seeing people for who they were a concept that was very much out of his grasp.
"I'm positive." Seph explained without any hesistation. Sara... would have no objections. He highly doubted that she would really notice the presence of another person, anyway. Some days she didn't even notice his presence. And even if she did have any quarrels about it...? Well, he had his ways of of calming her. He didn't feel the need to correct her on Sara being his 'mother'. He'd already learned that such a term was the farthest thing from the truth.

Vanyel felt like she was going to begin crying all over again. Partially because of the overwhelming generosity of the boy, but also because she couldn't possibly accept no matter how she wanted to. It was important that she didn't impose herself on others, especially if she didn't know them. Perhaps she'd call a friend and impose on them for a while, or just impose herself in an inn somewhere, but she couldn't bring herself to accept the boy's offer.
With a shake of her head she sniffed, "I'm sorry, I'd really love to, but I'd feel very out of place. I really don't know you very well at all, which means you don't know me either. I could be a bad person." Well. She knew she wasn't a bad person, and she didn't think anyone would think of her as a bad person, but still. Van couldn't even smile while she spoke, very real proof of her dismay at turning him down. The teen didn't like to let people down.

Seph didn't understand it. The girl looked sad about declining it, so why did she say no? He wouldn't have asked if he didn't have the intention to go through with it. This had been his first act of true, sefless generosity and it was being shoved back in his face.
His expression hadn't changed, however, he still looked as calm as before. "You wouldn't feel any more out of place then you already are. You said you have nowhere to go, and thus are out place. And bad people always have somewhere to go, it's the good ones who don't." All the stories he'd read said as much.
