David's lips twitched and curled mischievously.

"Stud, huh?" he snorted playfully. Then the man wrapped a sturdy arm around the woman's waist and guided her towards a small gathering of people, his own mind quickly forgetting the presence of their "children." "Don't be so anxious Ebony, we'll have fun tonight, just be patient. First though, we have to meet up with the rest of the group."

Prajna's glacier stare trickled sideways, following after the guardians before returning its attention back to Cordelia. Its brow was knit together in disgust, though the crease slowly evened out, until its androgynous features displayed a more confused look. Now what was she doing? She looked like the people on television whenever the flame pressed the 'Mute' button. Nothing but pointless gesturing. Prajna further narrowed its eyes, trying its best to understand until finally, it decided she did not deserve its understanding,

"We talk. David talk. Ebony talk. Cordelia is no better. Talk if want talk to Prajna. Not t.v. muted speaking" the Star hissed before turning on heel and floating quickly after their guardians. It was going to try so hard to stay on its best behavior, so hard. But this girl was either too stupid or too stuck up to see that.

Her heart jumped up a few notches in tempo as she felt the strong, warm embrace of his arm around her waist. Quickly she turned her head (trying to hide that damnable blush crossing her cheeks then) and gave a light snort. "Don't let the compliment go to your head." She gave a blink then, "The rest of the group?" Dear lord, what was he dragging her into?

Again it seemed Delia's meaning had been lost on the red Raevan as it sneered at her and floated furiously after their guardians. She couldn't help, but feel somewhat desolate at the current situation. Not only was she uncomfortably cold due to the night's chilly air, but now Prajna had left her freezing in its' wake. If only she could talk like the others...Curiously, the Basilisk opened her mouth and willed something, anything to come out. Only the hollow whisper of smoke left her lips.

"Cordelia!" came the loud call of her woman and the dark Frei quickly floated after the trio before they got too far ahead.

David nodded in response to Ebony's question but continued silently, until the quartet stood/floated just at the edge of the small crowd. An elegant blonde duo seemed to be talking from the center of the ring, the younger blonde, a voluptuous woman making some kind of..explanation. If one knew anything about stage performances and costuming, one would definitely be able to tell that the plaza was about to be turned into some kind of stage just by looking at the group's choice of attire: women were decorated head to toe in simple but exquisite jewelry, men wore collared shirts and black slacks, damsels dressed in sophisticated hues, mainly blacks, blues and browns, a few heels for the more daring women, closed toe shoes for the men. There was the occasional couple dressed in more casual wear, a sundress or tennis shoes, but the overall look screamed: performance. David tightened his hold around Ebony's waist and smirked as his eyes evaluated the crowd. They had a deal and the man was not going to let the pretty little thing run away now.

"We're going to open up with a freestyle dance for our couples tonight. Jonathan and I will be going around and watching each couple's dance, taking in some idea for each couple, to better evaluate the group's overall level. Once the first song or two have passed over, we'll decide which style to begin with and then the lesson can begin," the curly haired blonde woman sang and some of the people in the audience applauded. The man beside her, Jonathan, then took the center stage and gestured to the clock tower, taking the microphone from his companion. "Couples, please take your places. We will begin the night with some music from Sinatra and Yiruma."

And in a flash, as couples dispersed and situated themselves around the plaza, David turned Ebony to face him, taking her other hand in his free one and smiled, "Please don't be too bitter with me, kay?" He winked.

Prajna had just reached the edge of the crowd when they started to scatter. It was confused. What was going on? That's when it caught sight of David spinning Ebony around to face him. Prajna frowned. Where was it supposed to go now? That's when the realization hit it. Blue eyes darted about. A couple. A couple. Couples surrounded it and the Frei just wanted to scream. The Star turned to the approaching Cordelia, a sour look running across its features. Was SHE supposed to be ITS partner?! No way.

"DAVID," the flame hissed but David paid it no mind. It turned its gaze to Cordelia. Be good, be good, be good or you will never get to see Varun again Prajna's mind screamed and the flame let out a heavy sigh. If only to see its...frenemy? again. Prajna extended a delicate hand to Cordelia, though its fingers seemed a bit shaky. "Cordelia. Prajna. Come with Prajna. David wants..the same as us as Ebony and David."

Its jaw locked as it forced a smile.

Her slated gaze washed over the grouping before them in curiosity. What was going on? Some kind of performance? A competition perhaps? It wasn't until David swung her around to face him that she got the idea. Her slight irritation at him not telling her sooner was doused when he gently took her hand and flashed a heartbreaking smile. Damn, did he play dirty. "David..." she meant to hiss, but it came out far too soft in tone.

She held back from everything, even her own small group, still reeling from the Flame's rejection mere moments prior. It was soooo unfair! She couldn't help not being able to speak. It wasn't like she was trying to do it on purpose. If she could then she would have, but things weren't working like that. As time went on, the Basilisk was learning to understand their strange language more and more, yet...the tongue was not something to master over night. But she couldn't understand why she wasn't able to make a proper sound with her mouth. Everyone else seemed to do it easily enough, even Prajna with its' broken cadences. Why not her too? Was there something wrong with her?

Her internal monologue was interrupted by Prajna then as it beckoned her to it. Cordelia's normally unblinking stare broke with one single, slow blink. It made her a bit weary the way it looked at her, as if she were some horribly diseased creature. Instinct warned to be cautious of this gesture, but...perhaps if she didn't protest and gave it what it wanted now, then maybe it would give her a chance despite the silence she couldn't shake. Slowly, the Snake took the other's hand and gave a small smile. Now what?

"Yes Ebony?- Oh, watch yourself," David cooed. The Asian was so thankful he had been taught basic dance moves at the host club as part of his job requirement. With her distracted, David proceeded to twirl her gently in a single motion, perfectly placed within the beat of the song. The man felt his heart skip a beat as he watched the beautifully crafted dress fall back softly against Ebony's slender, twirling silhouette. He continued to smile, "Nice."

Prajna watched as Cordelia's features contorted into those of distrust and hesitation. For a moment, the flame thought it was looking into a mirror, a blackened mirror but a mirror nonetheless; How often it used that same expression and yet it hated being on the receiving end of it. But just when the flame thought about letting its hand drop back to its side, it felt cold fingers press themselves into its porcelain palm. Its attention snapped forward. Cordelia was..smiling. She had... a nice smile, Prajna admitted to itself, and that smile generated a warm feeling but Prajna kept its lips tight. It had to be careful about announcing its other suspicions. Yes, for now, it had to say only the courteous of thoughts.

"Cordelia know what Prajna says, yes? Now, do like Prajna" the Star commanded as gently as possible, though there was still a thin layer of ice in its voice. Taking her other hand and placing it on its shoulder and then slipping its own hand on her back, between her shoulder blades, the androgynous Frei glanced over at David and then the other couples and began to mimic them. ...Or try to. As it swayed gently to and fro, something about this position seemed..off to the fiery redhead. Maybe it just didn't have enough patience for this kind of music.

The blush couldn't be hidden now as she steadied her balance. That was rather embarrassing, tripping over her own feet just because he'd distracted her with his mere presence. Ebony bit her lip and tried to focus more on her partner's leading. She knew how to dance, be it something less modern like ballroom or a waltz, yet if they were expected to do anything more complex then Ebony would have to bow out. Her pride simply would not allow anything less than perfection to be seen in her in public.

"Thank you. Y-you dance well. Self taught?" It was a dumb question and she knew it the moment it left her mouth, but the woman simply could not think of anything else to say to him at the moment. Dancing with him...it felt a little too intimate somehow. When did all this happen anyway? What had happened to their playful flirting and banter from when they first met? Ebony sighed heavily, "Stupid question, forget I asked. Instead, how are you?"

The scaly eyed girl nodded and carefully followed Prajna's lead, also looking to everyone to make sure she wasn't doing something wrong. The last thing she needed was for him to be angry with her again, even if it wasn't her fault she was young and still not knowledgeable in a lot of things. She found it wasn't easy to match the moves of the others since they had two legs and they had none. Thus the most they could do was slowly sway around in small circles.

David let out a wholehearted laugh, the vibrations running through his body and into Ebony's arms. He was a gentleman right? Gentlemen wouldn't lie, right? He shook his head gently before blowing a few loose strands of hair out of his face, "It's not a stupid question and no, unfortunately. Had a friend or two teach me the basics. I've got a reputation to uphold y'know?"

He assisted her in a quick dip, a hand sliding silently into the small of her back. David held that position for a few seconds longer than was necessary and decided it was best to start breaking the ice, at least in the way he knew best. He leaned in closer to her as he pulled her back up and stopped their swaying for a moment. David's dark blue eyes stared intensely into his companion's silvery ones. He smiled again.

"And I'm doing great actually. How about you? Your face is a little red, sweet cheeks," David teased, hoping to get a more Ebony-like answer instead of one he would expect from his..clients. This was a date, a real one, he'd like to believe, not one he was paid for.

Prajna continued to sway and sway and sway with Cordelia until finally it grew a little dizzy. How boring, this dancing. Television had made it look so much more...BOOM! and ZAM! and..lively. This just felt like awkwardness, forced upon strangers. Prajna looked over at David again and was impressed when it saw him twirl and then dip Ebony. That looked..a little different. And Prajna was always up for a challenge.

"Try something," it cooed to Cordelia, now a bit excited. Quickly, it pulled the Frei in, no longer concerned with the fact that Cordelia was a female who came across as proud and self-absorbed, and then pushed her out, before twirling her a little too quickly. It may not have been as graceful as a performance as David and Ebony's had been, but man if it had not been a lot of fun! Prajna seemed to beam at its "accomplishment."
PostPosted: Sat Oct 31, 2009 9:22 pm

She simply gave him a reasonable nod at the answer of her original question. Though she found it urked just a bit that he'd laughed and answered at all. Why? Why'd he have to answer that stupid question and make her feel stupid in turn just for uttering it? To top it, David gave her a slight dip, lingering a bit too long for real comfort and it made her face flush red again. Ugh! What was wrong with her tonight?!

And just when the purple haired woman thought she couldn't take it anymore, especially when he stared deep into her eyes...something snapped straight back into place. David sure knew which buttons to press because an Ebony answer is exactly what he got. Eyes flashing dangerously, "If my face is red then it's because of all the dancing we're doing and nothing else!"

Cordelia was only half paying attention to Prajna then, already having gotten the hang of twirling about like they were. She'd heard the other say something, but before she knew it, the Flame was pulling her closer. Something in her chest constricted tightly as her eyes widened anxiously. Once again Prajna's casual face was replaced with the image of Lazarus's hungry, lust filled grin. The smokey girl broke away the minute the other had twirled her around full and slithered back a couple feet. She remained there, frozen with fear as her hand moved to the disfigured mark on her neck. It was throbbing again, heat beginning to pulse from its core to the rest of her icy half form. Delia stared, wide eyed at the other Raevan, seeing only Lazarus grinning like a cheshire cat and beckoning her with a slow wag of his finger.

David shrugged as he pulled Ebony close again, his steps quickening with the woman's returning fight, "Hm. I didn't know dancing could make one's face turn red, not unless it was straining the individual's body. Or maybe, it's the kind of dancing we're doing? Is it Ebony?"

He purred against her ear, his signature grin crawling back onto his features. Yes, this was the Ebony he knew so well, "Am I moving too fast for you, Princess?"

David laughed internally at the double meaning behind his words, again, quickening his pace.

Prajna was mentally preparing itself for another spin of Cordelia, not minding the girl's quietness now, when suddenly it felt their fingers snap apart. What happened? Prajna wondered if the dancing had stopped but saw that couples around them seeming to be gaining momentum, rather than losing it. The music too, seemed to continue at a lively pace. The redhead turned its cerulean eyes to Cordelia's face, and the way they were searching her features demanded an answer to the ruined moment. She looked..distraught. But Prajna couldn't understand what it had done wrong! Unless-- The flame narrowed its eyes into a dangerous glare and its hands turned into fists at its sides.

"Cordelia will not speak. Prajna TRY and TRY and girl stands and thinks is better than Prajna. Not. No. Never," came the hissed conclusion. This black half-torso thought she was better than Prajna?! It had been the one leading them in the dance and she suddenly thought she was too good for it?! Prajna floated a few inches closer, its fists shaking in restraint, as it tried to read into her features more deeply. Unfortunately, the Star could just not understand how it had upset her. It did not deserve this treatment or..lack of treatment. She was disgusted? She was SCARED? Why?! Why why why!

"Speak. CORDELIA, tell Prajna WHY. NOW. Nothing more will get if Prajna is not gived word now," the redhead growled as its wings beat hard against its back. It hadn't been screaming but it felt very very close to it..and attacking the girl in ways unlike the assaults on Varun and Rivener.

His banter and gradual speed up was triggering that competitive side in her and Ebony would be damned to hell if she let him have the upper hand. With loud, slightly angered clicking, the Brit's heels matched his fast moves with precision, never missing a beat. Adrenaline pumping and eyes flashing bright with excitement, "I doubt you could ever move fast enough to keep up with me, Solider." The sentiment at first glance seemed harmless enough, but only if one did not think about how a solider would be considered below the status of such royalty as he was dubbing her then.

Those silver eyes went beyond wide and looked about to fall out of her head when Prajna came closer still. To her it was not the Star Raevan approaching her, but the scarlet white Sigel from her last day at the Lab. He came slow, but with absolute want, hands cupped in a way to grab her like he had that day. Cordelia remembered the warmth and feeling of those hands which caused that odd feeling to ripple through her body again. She still didn't understand that feeling, only knowing that she should be afraid and not allow him to touch her because he would hurt her. She could not allow that to happen again. She wouldn't!

Standing her ground, the young Frei sprayed her dangerous wings wide and issued a low, warning hiss from her lips. If he didn't stop, she would make him stop!

"Soldier?" David coughed, stunned by her choice of title. How..appropriate. His lips curled even more as he helped her to perform another twirl, this one a bit faster than the last, with the returning pull a bit more intimate. He took note that the group was gathering again, the coordinators' decision to be made, but decided to cherish these last few beats with Ebony. He pulled her close, wrapping both arms sturdily around her front, as he placed a quick kiss in her hair. "That's what I'm here for, Princess. To make sure you're happy and safe."

He grinned.

Prajna, on the other hand, was enraged. To any other Frei, Cordelia was probably the most intimidating opponent ever. Her wings were shaped like daggers and all of that blackness just screamed "danger." But no, not for Prajna. Like Hell it was going to back down out of a challenge, especially one so obvious as this! The Star mimicked her defensive pose with just a touch here and there to seem more on the offensive instead. It curled its hands as it each finger was a released claw. It crouched, seemingly prepared for a lunge. Its charcoal colored wings flared out, shaking a few loose feathers in its anger.

Several seconds passed by and then finally, Prajna mentally declared: Screw Varun. They'd find a way back to each other.

"Cordelia" Prajna growled, how deep and throaty its own voice sounded surprising even itself. The Star narrowed its piercing blues and took a more aggressive crouch. "Want Prajna? COME."

She twisted around quick before he gathered her back to him once more, this time pulling her in close and wrapping his arms around her. How odd, but somehow perfectly right for those arms to be there. Ebony leaned in closer to listen to his murmured words, the thought of sweet nothings running rampant across her mind. A satisfied smile crossed her face, like the woman had won something. They'd slowed to something more like a sway now, rocking back and forth as he held her. "Well..." That's when the Brit decided to give him that break she'd debated earlier. "...I suppose mission accomplished then...Solider." She just couldn't let that drop, not when he'd called her Princess again. She wasn't elated about it, but at least it was better than 'sweet cheeks.'

The heat was swiftly rising within her, that bruise throbbing painfully now with each beat of her rune. It took her reason and judgment, leaving only instinct to rule. Slowly, she began to circle the Star, black tendrils of hair floating slightly up and seeming to look less solid than they had just a moment before. An urge to bare her fangs was followed and Cordelia hissed again at Prajna. Her prey could beg all it wanted, but it would do no good. She would eliminate this threat and be done with it. Each circuit she rounded around the red Frei brought her closer until she was practically on top of the other, her fangs snapping out to readily bite whatever part of the other she could sink them into.

Ebony had been so preoccupied with David that she hadn't been paying too much mind to their Raevans. Though she'd seen them several times out of the corner of her eyes dancing as well as two floating torsos could. So when her grey orbs came round to them once again she was shocked to find hers circling Prajna with a murderous look on its face. Stopping abruptly and gasping, "C-Cordelia?!" The Brit didn't wait and broke out of David's embrace to race towards the Freis.

David had slowly begun to prepare himself for what seemed like the perfect kiss when Ebony ripped herself free from his embrace. That's when what she said reached the logical side of his mind, "Cordelia? Oh s**t. PRAJNA!"

The Asian's eyes trickled after Ebony, watching her bolt for the Raevan duo. Immediately, he remembered the dangers one could get into if they tried to get between two Frei's and so he ran after his companion and reached out for her. He grabbed Ebony's wrist, perhaps a little too roughly. His brows knitted together as he tried to explain, "Ebony, please, be careful. Give them a little bit of space. I.. know this isn't what you want to hear but, I've seen Prajna fight before. It's REALLY good at instigating stuff, trust me, but they need to settle this themselves otherwise.."

He cringed, hating how helpless he felt and how troublesome this situation was, "Otherwise ..1. neither will ever learn how to handle their problems like adults and 2. you might get hurt in trying to separate them. And I don't think anyone, not me, and especially not our Raevans want that."

He hoped the woman would be able to push her maternal worries away for a moment and view this logically. David..hoped he was being logical.

Prajna watched as Cordelia, like a shark, floated closer and closer, floating in a kind of minimizing spiral around the Star. With each cycle, the redhead crouched lower, not trying to hide but to get a better opening at Cordelia's tanned body. Within seconds, the Basilisk was floating almost on top of it, hissing. Instinctively, but surprisingly, Prajna returned her venomous threat with a low but prominent growl of its own, its rumbling sounding more like a deep, human-like curse rather than an animal's snare. Though her teeth glistened beautifully in the moonlight, nothing came across as intimidating.

Suddenly, Prajna heard Ebony cry out and took that split second to lunge at the black haired Frei.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 01, 2009 1:28 am

Instinctively, Ebony kicked off her heels as she ran, pushing through stunned dancing couples. She prayed to any gods above that she would make it in time or that somehow Cordelia wouldn't do what she feared the girl would. One minute she was running, the next she was falling back into David. Shaking her head to clear it, she automatically looked up at the man as he spoke. Why was he stopping her?!

Shaking her purple hair in defiance this time and struggling to wrench herself from his strong grip, Ebony cried loudly, "NO! DAVID! LET ME GO! YOU CAN'T-YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND! CORDELIA'S A BASILISK! I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT KIND OF POWER THAT ALLOWS HER! SHE COULD KILL PRAJNA!" She failed to mention that she was worrying about whether this sudden change in attitude meant that Lazarus had infected Delia like Kyou might have thought. Did that mean Prajna was in danger of being infected now too? But what did that matter now if Cordelia...Ebony couldn't allow the thought to finish in her mind and simply screamed in frustration due to David's hold on her. "CORDELIA!"

The Incubus wouldn't be hurting anyone anymore. She would see to that now. Yet as focused as she was on the prey before her, a woman's scream cut through to her then. Wasn't that her woman's voice? Why was she suddenly screaming her name now? In response, the girl allowed herself the mild distraction of looking towards the humans then. Big mistake for her 'prey' took that as an advantage, leaping on her. Cordelia roared with anger and tried to claw the red head off her.

"A..basilisk?" David recited softly, his hold still firmly locked in place. He copied her and shook his mind clear, her screaming helping in that process. "Ebony, Ebony. EBONY. Listen to me! Your Frei..I don't think..No, I know. No one's dyi--"

David looked back at the Raevan duo just in time to see Prajna lunge at the black haired female. His mouth fell open as his grip on Ebony loosened just a tad. Was Prajna really going to go that far? What had Cordelia done to piss it off so much?!

"PRAJNA!"

It was now David's turn to scream and charge, though he made sure to push Ebony back. In the back of his mind, he still didn't want her getting hurt and would regret it ten fold if she got even a scratch, whether it was caused by his Raevan or her own. Despite the situation, Prajna's focus still remained on Cordelia. Speed was on its side as it floated upwards quickly, and positioned itself right above Cordelia. With another swift motion, the flame quickly brought its icy palm straight across the other's flawlessly tanned cheek and nose, the fingers giving off a small blue glow. The same kind of fuzzy aura that had occurred when Prajna had been fighting Varun. Prajna still wasn't sure how it projected the icy flames, but it did know it only managed to do it when it was incredibly angry.
