"You did right." Guinevere said, giving the girl a wan smile and, since she was Guinevere, she added "And the correct grammar is 'I followed Mrs. Kyrie here, and then she left' and 'Did I do wrong?'."
It was too much to be a coincidence. Guinevere glanced over at Hae-min and said "I think that this girl is a Herald. Like me, Ma'am. I'm nearly positive she is, what with the missing gold dust and the fact she followed Kyrie in, but I'd like to ask her myself to make sure. Until then, does this girl have a home or guardian?" She hadn't been hired for three minutes and already she was being so forward, but it couldn't be helped. She gulped and added, "Heralds need caring families, Ma'am. If she doesn't have one, I'd like to find her one."
"If that's not too bold, of course."

"I followed Mrs. Kyrie here, and then she left," repeated the girl. She sat with a little 'oomph' right on the floor, arms and legs akimbo.
Hae-min looked over to Guinevere, paying attention now. "Oh, dear. Is she? Truly?" She shook her head. "I would say that we shall take her in, but... if she is like you, growing up in this environment could do her some damage. Several spells call for feathers from angels; for her own safety, she should stay away... I don't know that Kyrie is fit to raise a child, either. She's but seventeen, and in thrall to a demon as well. Poor girl."
The little girl rested her head on Guinevere's knee.

"Right." said Guinevere grimly as the bad news was delivered to her.
"If it isn't too much trouble, I'd like to take her home with me. I can find her a good place, and I can take care of her until someone suitable arrives. Would that be possible?"

Hae-min sighed. "I wouldn't want to impose, Guinevere. If you'd like to do that, I won't stop you--only, please let me know how it goes?"

Guinevere smiled warmly, relieved that Hae-min had understood. "Of course I'll tell you!" Getting up to go, she just barely remembered to curtsy, dropping one hastily and then offering her hand to Lucretzia. "I'll be here first thing Monday. Thank you so much, really, thank you." Curtsying again, she added one more "Thank you!" at the doorway and left, towing her newly acquired project along with her.
