Her worry was writ large on her high-cheekboned face, and Charys flapped a hand at her. "Don't worry about me, okay?" she said. "Come on. I cannot handle it if you worry. I don't do worrying. Hakuna matata."
She was fiddling with the carved figurine again. She brushed her fingers over its planes and surfaces, where Pandora had painstakingly tumbled and sanded it smooth as silk. "I'll be out of the clink in a couple days anyway," she said. "God willing. Just don't bring me any homework. I'm not gonna do it."
Charys didn't do homework when she had full use of her limbs, this was no surprise. She hadn't done her own maths homework for what seemed like two years running. "Snickers, cash, cheque, always welcome," she said. "And porn. -- Ha ha, you're blushing, you totally believed me? No porn, man, that's creepy."

"Tease me too much I'll get some of those porno-lolly-pops from spencers...you can freak the HECK out of the Doctors."
She flashed a grin then made a warning sign and stuck out her tongue.
"Hakuna matata..." She repeated shaking her head... "Noooo way... not a disney fan, did you -see- pocahontas?" She said with a small laugh and then struck a silly pose... and did a shaky rendition of a few lines from "Colors of the wind" and then grimaced. "Disney Porn..." She added with a little wing.

Charys reached out for Pandora's hand and, for a few moments, held it quite tightly. Then she flopped her head back, eyes closed, her eyelids dark shadows. "That's a thought," she said. "You know it exists. Rule 42. Anyway, P-cake, don't hang around here any longer. It sucks and is boring, and if you wait around too long? You'll see them inject s**t into my a**."
She drew the last sentence out with a spoo~ooky fingerwave, as though that was meant to scare Pandora away. "Can't believe I'm spending Candy Holiday in the doctor prison," she said. "Anyway, remember what I said about keeping your butt safe, etc, etc; say hi to the rest of the bad a** dudes for me, say how tragic I looked. Might be able to squeeze stuff out of them when I get back."
She raised a thumb-up. Then she let her hand flop down. She really did look tired. She looked worn. She didn't look like Charys.

Her turn to fight back tears, well... she could feel them but it was like they were dying before falling, pricking in her eyes like tiny needles of guilt.
"bad a** dudes...right..." She said with a watery smile.
"Feel better... ok? or... You know I'll have to kick you back into shape myself..." Her voice cracked at the end.
"I'll be back... ok? I promise... you be safe..."
She gave a gentle hand squeeze.
"I'll find and send more candy...and less homework..." she said barely a whisper.
"You rest..."

Charys gave another, limper thumbs-up. Then she settled back in the pillows, apparently pretty well on her way to unconsciousness already, too far gone to thankfully see any prickles of tears in Pandora's eyes. Out like a light. A battered, bruised light, but a light nonetheless. Charys always could sleep anywhere.
Although apparently were it up to the Negaverse, she'd be doing the Big Sleep. Pandora had gotten herself into something too large for anyone to handle.
