R'ysan nodded and found it very hard not to laugh as Snitch really searched out L'thor's face. But the mouth was the most curious thing to the creature who's head bobbed each time the mouth opened and closed with each word. Tiny wings flapped with glee as the little head watched the TONGUE. Snitch's tongue flicked out and in as he watched for an opening and when he saw one poked his head right in trying to get a close look at this giant slug like thing.
"Oof!" said R'ysan and blinked in surprise. "Snitch! Get out of his mouth!" He leaned forward trying to help get Snitch out as the mite tried to squirm forward after the tongue!

L'thor made a noise of extreme startlement, and only avoided pitching backwards off the bench by flailing wildly. Flitt! Flitt in mouth! Reaching up he managed to grab the little beast gently but firmly by the shoulders, and swiftly pulled the firelizard out of his mouth. "Snitch?" he exclaimed, "Should be called Trouble! Silly beast," he regarded the blue seriously, "I might have hurt you!" Might have bitten his little head clean off come to that. Not a pretty thought.

Snitches small head stared up at the big face with its tiny blue eyes like some undaunted child. Its tongue flicked forward almost questioning and was soon to find R'ysan's hands around its itty bitty body.
"Oh man, I didn't think he'd do that, L'thor." he said trying to be serious but finding it really hard to at this point because little mister flit seemed determined to find a dark place to hide. Soon Snitch was squirming and struggling out of R'ysan's hands. He plucked up a sock he had with him and the flit poked at it and crawled in. "See what did I tell you. He likes dark places. Geesh."
"Sounds like I wouldn't want to be at Telgar with that sort of attitude. I don't mind girls if they work hard and well preferences aside, I don't really mind either gender if I'm thinking about it but I totally refuse if they've not a lick of smarts. I'd definitely be at odds with their ideas over at Telgar. Mm...sounds like you got some bad luck with that wing. But maybe you can get into a different one once you've got more seniority here?" He had to wonder what they did in wings and drills with greens. "So what do you end up doing in your drills? What do greens get to do?

L'thor laughed and shook his head. "Nevermind, no harm done, hopefully he won't try it again!" Some people might be less tolerant, or just less observant... though seriously, you'd have to be pretty thick not to notice a firelizard trying to crawl into your mouth. "I suppose it could have been worse," he went on with a shrug, "my wing that is... I don't see myself getting 'seniority' in any case. We poor undervalued green riders; we can hope for a Searchrider post, but no more and that's not really my style. Raith and I mean to fight the Thread, we don't need the distraction of hunting down candidates whenever there's a new clutch on the sands." Other than that, what really was there? Oh, it was possible to make posts like Weyrlingmaster, but there was only one of those and it wouldn't be given to somebody like him. No. Wingrider he was, and wingrider he was likely to remain.
"You know, I think I should start up a little club, for us and for blue riders," he said with a chuckle, "give the commoners somewhere to vent, people to hang around with who don't think that the shiny dragons are the best dragons. We could have dice games, card games, show off to each other on our lovely agile mounts... And of course," he came out of daydream mode to grin at his companion, "the more experienced of us would be more than happy to help out weyrlings with any questions they might have which haven't yet been addressed in their lessons." He'd enjoyed teaching things to Veyes, maybe he'd have fun tutoring one or two willing weyrlings here as well. By finding out what issues they were having, he'd be able to help his young friend even better when he went back to visit... if Veyes wanted to see him, that was.

"Well I think he isn't going to be near any mouths any time soon or I'll let him in mine to prove a point." he smirked because at least he'd be ready for it. Thankfully he didn't snore or else he suspected he'd wake to a mouthful of baby flit! "So no seniority for greens eh? Mmm...well Search rider doesn't sound so bad if you're wanting to get out of the hold. However, after being found by a drunk search rider, I think that I might not want to be one." He chuckled at the thought as he remembered dragging the man through the mud to his tent.
"A club for green and blue riders?" he questioned as he thought of the idea. With the only small bits of knowledge he had in his head it might be be worth his time to get to know other riders in his same category - Green. "Yeah, some place to vent would be really nice considering I'm sure to ruffle a lot of feathers in this place." He grinned a bit as he took a few bites of stew so it wouldn't get cold. "I could probably use the extra lessons too. Considering Weyrling class has become really boring lately. We've been learning the History of this Weyr. Ugh. As if I'm going to be a historical guide or something. I guess I could like the lessons if they were active but these parts are mind numbing."

L'thor snorted and shook his head. "Never understood the need for detailed history lessons. It makes sense for gold riders to have to know our history inside out, how that might affect Hold relations, but other than that what's the practical use of knowing the names of ancient queens, and the bronzes that flew them most often? Big things we should be told about, but if nothing significant happened in the life of a Weyrwoman, why should weyrlings be pressured to recall her name? I'm probably not setting a good example," L'thor said thoughtfully after a short pause to dunk and munch more bread. "I should be telling you how important the heritage of this place is, but I don't really know any of it myself so that would be hypocritical. I know about the plague, the seven-come-five spindles and so on, what more knowledge do I, does anyone, need to get along in life?"
It would be quite funny if he managed to get a large number of weyrlings together and give them advance lessons in ground drills, and strap making. Blues and greens at the top of the class! Now that would be brilliant, and could he really be told off just for sharing his knowledge with a few friends? Possibly, but it would be a most unfair thing to do, and he would be well within his rights to strop about it. Oh, he supposed there could be moaning that he wasn't showing the prescribed way of making straps all weyrlings were taught, but the slight deviations he had made were just as secure. As time went by, all riders diverged a little from that rigid pattern, and he suspected that all weyrlingmasters just taught their own method in any case.

"Yeah, if I'm not going to use it, why bother? That's my thought about it. I mean why do I care what gold rose when? It isn't going to affect my day or anyone elses. I'm never going to be flying a gold." He smirked at the thought of that considering his Reg was a female. "Ha! Yeah, I suppose they won't have any class for you on the subject either. Maybe knowing about the plague is important because one needs to know what to look for. And...mm...when thread has fallen historically because one needs to plan for that in the future. but beyond that, I'm not sure what the point is." He took a bit of his bread and started dunking it in the left over juices and taking a bite.
"But, I wouldn't mind lessons on stuff I can use now for Reg. Important things about the dragon and stuff other riders have experienced so I don't make the same mistakes others have. I don't mind learning if it's got use." He peeked in the sock and checked on the flit who was starting to snooze. "Your idea sounds really pretty good. I bet you other greens and blues would join if you started it."

"Mmmh, I think it could be fun," L'thor said with a thoughtful nod. "Just very informal, anyone asking whatever they feel like asking without worrying about whether or not it's a stupid question. Sometimes things that maybe ought to be obvious aren't, I know I'm more than capable of missing the point if I'm daydreaming about something else, or just not feeling on top form." His ego would certainly love the attention, having people look to him for answers and advice would be fun. If he could talk any of them into it; the moments of free time they had right now really were moments. Logistically it would be tough, but as the dragons aged it would only get easier.
"Maybe you could suggest it to your fellow green riders, and the blues as well, maybe browns if there are any decent ones" L'thor paused to take a sip of klah before adding; "no annoying people though. Or suck ups, we don't want anyone going whining to the weyrling master. Personally I don't see how this idea could be wrong, but I'm sure some people will find a way to take exception. Probably call it exclusionary or something, and demand golds and bronzes be allowed in too."

"Informal is good. I'd rather just people come as they are and be real." He pondered things for a moment then considered something. "Maybe we can also have a flit breeding team. Find out who has what sort of flit and see if we can get some good matches with the riders' flits. Make a few marks on the eggs for a kiddy to get beer and goods for the club. Or maybe we can have some...mm..matches. Wrestling or something?" R'ysan liked physical matches much better than some things. He knew that he had a good chance of placing in them depending on the opponent.
"Hmmph. Umm. Not sure that any blues or greens in my class are...worth that sort of time. I can't say that may of them aren't suck ups or followers. Maybe Uuni and hers. Her blue is a jokester but I'm not sure what's her line of thinking is. I see her scoping out the guys but I've not talked to her much one on one. Yeah whining to the Weyrling master is well whining to the Weyrleader at the moment. The guy isn't used to dealing with a lot of young riders I think. Of course, he could be overworked with two jobs. Not sure why he decided to do both. Seems rather silly when he's got a Weyr full of other folks he could hand work off to while the other guy's away." Yes, it did seem rather strange to him because the man had power to make things move if he chose to use it.
He smirked, "I don't have anything against colors of dragons. The riders are still men no matter what color. There are smart and dumb people and no dragon will change that."

"Oh? Shame," L'thor sighed, "nevermind, one or two is better than none I suppose. It'll make it all the better for those who are decent, more time to ask what you want to ask." The name Uuni was vaguely familiar to him, though he wasn't certain why. Perhaps he had met somebody by that name before, it was even possible that she had transferred up from Ista. Perhaps he'd know for sure if he saw her.
"I'll agree that there are idiots and bright people on all the colours," he went on, "but bronzes and golds get enough attention as it is. That gold rider of yours will be starting private lessons soon, won't she? She'll not have the time for some little gathering with mini lessons from a rider of no rank." And he didn't have the time for her either. He had a lot less of a grudge against gold riders than bronze riders, but frankly they got enough fawning fuss from everyone else, he wasn't about to join the masses scrabbling for a bit of her time.

"Yeah well you know how it goes." he returned without too much thought to it. R'ysan wasn't about to let his heels be dragged down by the others. It wasn't hard for him to drop anyone except for family because he had dragged them through life's troubled waters. Maybe family really was the only thing he had a keen sense of commitment and duty. But maybe that really narrowed down to his sisters, because for the most part, he didn't give a damn about his parents. Once his sisters were on their own he'd have one thing less to worry about. But that would be turns away.
"Oh yeah, she's getting private lessons. That starts from now on from what I remember at the last lesson. We don't get any special things like that. But I guess all the other colors are a mark a dozen. So I suppose it just expected that we all just catch on. " he chuckled just a little. "Heck don't lower yourself. Any weyrling worth half their grains of salt be happy for mini lessons from someone that knows better. I betcha have a lot of experience and insight to offer." He was beginning to see that L'thor had a bit of an edge against the metallic breeds. It didn't bother R'ysan. To each his own as long as it didn't affect him.
"So how often do ya want this group to get together and were would we meet?" Overall, the ideas would be fun. He thought it might give him a more hands on feel to Rider life than the rather closed in Weyrling lessons so far. Private tutoring might even give him an edge.

"Oh, I know a thing or two," L'thor agreed with an easy grin. "And expect to be regaled with useful anecdotes, some of them may even have a point beyond being very entertaining! I think one of the best things I'll be able to offer is lessons on flitt handling for those who own them, they don't teach you that and it's sharding difficult to work out by trial and error before you have a little beast on your hands... Mind you most of mine were little beasts anyway," he allowed with a chuckle, "but they were beasts that usually listened to me when I asked something of them."
Oh, he'd just referred to them in the past tense. That was a bit sad, but currently it was true. Perhaps they would become present-tensed again some day, but for now they were not a part of his life. He wondered if they could sense how much he missed them. He hoped so.
"As to how often... I think that should be up to you lot really, given how little spare time you get. Just get one of your dragons to give Raith a nudge when you have the time and the inclination to gather, if it's in the evening chances are I'll be free. I'll be watchrider sometimes, and we occasionally have to do things with the wing, but more often than not my evenings are my own."

Little Snitch poked his head out of the sock he had curled up in. It was almost as if he sensed something wasn't quite right and crooned sleepily up at L'thor and R'ysan curiously. "Looks like Snitch thinks you're kids need to come up here and hang out." said R'ysan as he reached down to stroke at the small head assuring the tiny guy that things were alright.
"I think I'm going to need a lot of training. Everything is just way to new even though I'm used to labor and getting by. It's mostly dealing with people not dragons or flits. I really don't want to make a mistake with Reg or Snitch since they're my family now."
He smirked a bit as Snitch scooted back into the sock, "Sure, I'll work out time and then get Reg to talk to Raith You know my girl, she doesn't want to get big. She wants to remain tiny because she wants to be able to follow me around in the tunnels and come to the dining hall. I'll thinking she's going to hate it when she's too big to get in here. She's going to need a friend or two to hang out with in time. Does Raith like adventure?" R'ysan knew that Reg was just a bit like him in some ways. She wanted to play, explore and do things at her own pace. She much rather be doing her own thing than doing Weyr work.

L'thor nodded, pushing aside his finished stew and sipping instead at his wine; it wasn't stunning quality, but it was certainly pleasant. "We both love adventure," he elaborated, "mostly in the form of flying very very fast, and seeing new places. Always something new to see, a new patch of mountain range to swoop past, vast plains and deserts to look down on, places interesting enough to land and take a closer look at. Raith just loves meeting new people too of course, more people to admire her beauty!"
Now he fancied going somewhere, somewhere fairly familiar he and Raith could strike out from to find new spots to admire, and be admired in. "Once you and any friends you manage to recruit are flying, Raith and I can give you all lots of distinctive places to between to, most of our spots are around Ista and the coast of Southern, but we know a spot or two out in the Igen desert for when you fancy somewhere really hot to relax." The desert sun filtering through the leaves of an oasis tree, sipping at cold fruit juice, not worrying about a thing. Yes, that sounded very good indeed.

R'ysan grinned just a bit thoughtful about that prospects of flying. He couldn't wait to be able to take off at a moments notice and get away from the Weyr. The idea of being unfettered from the land beneath his feet sounded exciting and he had a feeling Reg would love getting out and about because he was certain she'd find something new to amuse her over the entirety of Pern. "Then I'm betting they will be fairly easy friends in that regard. Although, I don't think Reg will 'admire' the beauty as much. I'm not sure Reg is really interested in that sort of thing yet."
Actually even for himself he never really too much time to admire beauty. He was more interested in what went on in the head rather than physical appearances. But to each their own and over all hanging out with L'thor and Raith sounded like a good way of learning Green Ridership from the Green rider perspective without having to deal with other issues. He had doubts about the other weyrlings but these folks he probably would be around for much of his life in one way or another. So, he had to at least get used to it but he preferred to do so on his own terms.
"I'd enjoy traveling about Pern if you have the time to show us some places we can go. So how long have you and Raith been together?" he asked to continue the conversation. "A few years? "
