Lately, it seemed like she was spending all her time at the mall. She wasn't likely to be found by any annoying talking cats here, and that alone made it one of the more ideal places. Plus, she could case the place for interesting seeds. You never knew when you'd meet someone who was especially weak and ripe for the plucking!

There was one thing, however, that was dampening her mood. Past almost every single store, they were advertising the local festivities. That, of course, meant Prom. The Destiny City Prom was the one time when all of the schools put aside their rivalries and used that energy for a common goal. It was reputed to be the best party in town!

Audrey wouldn't know. In her three years at Meadowview, she'd not gone to a single one. Every year she told herself she didn't care, but when faced with all those beautiful gowns....it was a real struggle to stay aloof!

Pausing in front of a particularly large display, she idly leafed through the gowns. Just because she didn't have a date didn't mean she couldn't look!

"Uh-huh," Khaldun said airily, not buying it for a moment, "That all?"

As he suspected, it wasn't all. Was she serious? Charonite? Still? Even Obsidian, psychotic monster of a person he was, at least seemed to have actual feelings for Nealite. The boss was cold like a block of dry ice - maybe it was the sunglasses, but he sure as hell never seemed to even look at women any differently than chairs or tables or hockey sticks. Everything was an inanimate object to the guy. The day he did make a pass at a woman, any woman, was probably the day the apocalypse began, or the universe ripped in two and ceased to exist altogether. It simply went against nature.

Khaldun watched as she paused and fiddled with the clothing. Ursula's loss of composure didn't register with him, as the proverbial gears began to turn. On the one hand, it meant Khaldun would have to, by his own choice and not because of illness, injury, insanity, or detention, start up a conversation with General-King Charonite. This was not the daunting part. What struck fear into the hearts of lieutenants like himself was more the situation they found themselves in when the conversation was finished. Charonite would be angry, that was a given. Perhaps he'd be really angry. Khaldun was pretty sure that just the fact that it was himself paying the visit would bring out the Flecks of Spittle on principle. And of all things, Khaldun would have to... to try to get him to go on a date with Nealite. But, on the other hand, Nealite was promising to find him a date for prom. A hot date.

There was really only one answer.

The teen crossed his arms and tried to look like he'd given it a lot more thought than he had. There was some dark humor in the small smile on his face, knowing his fate even in advance of his decision. But for once he wouldn't be there over one of his mistakes, just one of Nealite's. "Alright, I'll do it. But my date had better be pretty damn hot. I'm not a charity."

The grin slid itself into place as he answered, the older girl suppressing her excitement as best she could manage, considering present circumstances.

"Dually noted," she quipped back, moving towards the register with the clothing. As her face turned away from his view, she finally acknowledged the fact that... well, ********. She'd promised Khaldun a date. Where in the world was she going to find a chick willing to going out with him to prom, much less a hot chick? She worked in an all boys school for Christ's sake, when did she get an exposure to high school girls?

Her lips pursed, her mind racing as she slid out her credit card and paid the store clerk. She could probably find a less than savory character down on the end of Fifth street later in the evening, but there was no guarantee that she'd be hot enough looking (not to mention the difference in age). s**t s**t s**t, why hadn't she thought over her offer before blurting it out?

She moved, at last, turning to the side as the attendant placed the jacket and shirt in a bag. That's when she saw the unmistakable blue hair. Of all the people to run into...

Linarite.

Holding her breath, her mind quickly formulated a plot. Audrey Collins was nothing more than some meek little computer nerd... surely she wouldn't have a date for prom yet. She wasn't half bad looking either, to be frank. But how in the world was she going to get them together? Audrey would naturally suspect something if she outright asked. Hm.

Snatching up the bag from the worker, Ursula moved back to where Khaldun was standing.

"I've already got the perfect woman in mind," She told him confidently, her voice slightly lower in volume. One hand reached up and pointed in the bluenette's direction. "There. What do you think? Hot enough for you?"

Ursula's generosity with the clothing wasn't going to get a 'thank you' out of Khaldun. It wasn't like he didn't know it was a ploy at this point, and that he'd bought into the whole thing of his own volition. But he did look grateful to her when she approached, though still less about the clothes and more about the 'hot date' he'd have a hell of a time managing to get without her offered help.

Khaldun followed the point to the prospective date Nealite had spotted. He looked over the blue-haired girl with the same discerning eye one used to pick out produce at a grocery store. "Not bad. Not bad at all."

"Good."

And it was good. Well, good enough for Ursula, at least. If she could trick Audrey into going to prom with Khaldun, her end of the bargain would be complete and Little Dreads would get to do the awkward asking on her behalf when it came to the General-King. On top of that, if she played her cards right, she could convince Khaldun to attempt to snag Audrey's star seed while she was spending what could possibly be the most special evening of her entire high school ******** hilarious.

Drawing even nearer, she leaned close to the younger boy and stood on her toes to be able to reach up to his ear and whisper her plan. Once that was done, she forcibly linked her arm with Khal's, shoved the bag into his other hand, and yanked him out into the aisle with her, directly in view for the other girl. Clearing her throat, she hiked up her volume a bit before she started in with an excessively disapproving tone.

"Oh Khaldun, sweetheart, please don't pay her any mind. That bluenette is nothing but trouble; I'm sure I can find you someone much prettier to go to prom with!"

Grinning, she stared into the back of the head of Audrey, daring the b***h to turn around and face her.

This had to be some cruel joke. That voice, the one right behind Audrey, belonged to none other than Ursula Johnson, the dreaded, hated Nealite. Was the woman some kind of crazy stalker? Nearly everywhere the teen went, her orange-haired rival was not far behind.

Turning around and trying to keep her expression blank, all the girl could do was stick her tongue out at the secretary before turning her attention to the boy that apparently had something to do with the local prom. At first, the Linarite half of her could've sworn that she was looking at a younger version of the General-King, and her eyebrows rose.

Looking closer, however, the differences were easy to spot. This young man was a bit easier around the edges, though it was near impossible to be rougher than Charonite. The dreds were also dark instead of purple, and that scar on his face was dashing and intimidating nonetheless.

"Hello there, I'm Audrey. I'm sure she's said horrible nasty things about me, but I can generally promise you they're all exaggerated, and absolutely conditional."
