It's true regardless of the movie. =/ It just means the Doctor needs to be more careful and not go through two regenerations in the space of four years. lol

I haven't seen the movie either. I'm still watching episodes of the first Doctor. Even with me being an American I still think we do some wierd stuff to TV, movies, books... There was this one time i was really into Tomas The Train Engine. Then I saw a remake of one of the movies. I died severall minutes later

I am an American, but I agree that Fox should have left well enough alone. I am very big fan of Doctor Who, and I don't like the idea of him being half human...that just doesn't make any sense to me! I mean wasn't the whole Donna thing about how a human can't be half Time Lord because they cannot mentally take it? I may have misunderstood...of course Rose's Doctor clone was half human. He only had one heart and and he would age. Hm. Suddenly I have spotted a hole in the plot of this story...

Again, it all comes down to some studio executive's misguided belief that we wont watch a show where the main character is not (at least in part) human. Look throughout American Sci-Fi and you will see that even on the most diverse racial shows they all featured humans first and foremost.
I think back to Doctor Who's Voyage of the Damned (Christmas Special).
Other than Donna Noble's grandfather (for 45 seconds on screen) and the sight of people fleeing Buckingham Palace, that episode was human-free!
Name an American Sci-Fi that would do something like that. Hell mane one that you could remove all humans from the cast and you would still have a show.

Popular theory (quoted from other fans) is that the Dcotor only claimed to be half human to screw with the Master's head (after all, how would YOU feel if your childhood-best-friend-turned-mortal-enemey turned out to be half alien bunny-rabbit?). another idea is that whatever more human stuff he had as 8 was because of the human blood transfusions they gave to 7 trying to save him. Could explain the eye thing from the clips I've seen. Also on that note, wasn't the doctor that operated on him female? "Human on my mother's side" eh?

But there are ways around the 12 regeneration deal. If a write comes up with an interesting Way of creating more lives Then It will probably happen. Colin Baker even said that the writes can always give more lives to the Doctor if they need or want to. Also Read the Doctor Who Comic series "The Forgotten" It will explain a bit more about the 8th Doctor and how he isn't actually Half Human.

As far as I'm concerned. he is the 8th doctor, but everything else can be ignored. I have absolutely no respect for Fox. (Joss Whedon plays a big part in that) They had no business screwing with the Doctor.

Sarah_Angel Someone put the whole thing on Youtube, but they edited it so the Master won't be in it so much. Should I watch it the way they did it, or should I wait until someone puts it up like it was originally done? And if you have it yourself, would you mind putting it on Youtube? Dude, watch the whole thing, Master, and all.

(Joss Whedon plays a big part in that) They had no business screwing with the Doctor. The BBC even reconises him as the Doctor, and a lot of the People in Britain that saw the 8th Doctor Movie Loved it, and if the BBC had the money they might have picked it up for another series again back in 1996. But they didn't so they held off till 2005. There are 11 Doctors. The 8th Counts, Get over you're petty Hate over Joss Whedon and Fox and accept it for what it was A failed attempt at a Pilot for a Restart of Doctor Who, With a Really good Actor for the 8th Doctor. Get off your High horse and realize that this show has had its up and downs, and that any Doctor that the BBC Reconises is considered a Official Doctor. Um, hes not knocking the eigth doc. Hes saying the eight doc, as far as how the actor portrayed him anyway, was good. The movie itself sucked, the plot, all of it, but the doc was good, and the only thing from that movie he accepts.

The movie itself sucked, the plot, all of it, but the doc was good, and the only thing from that movie he accepts. Thank you for understanding what I actually wrote. I liked the eighth doc. I believe he could have been awesome in a new series or at least a better movie. Honestly I think part of my problem is a dislike of 90s movies like this. As someone else has said, I can accept the basic story, but that's about it.

I figure with the Time Lords gone it should be pretty easy to work around the regeneration limit. Since its origins were never explained (yes?), it could be written off as a convention of a planet/society which no longer exists.
Ah, TV Movie. A bit crap, but Rassilon was McGann fantastic. He has somewhat inexplicably become my favorite Doctor.
And I can't get the novels or audios very easily. Curse you, Atlantic Ocean!
Incidentally, the whole movie is up on dailymotion. Probably of questionable legality, but I figure if they're not going to release it for Region 1...
DRIVE BY MCGANN LOVE heart heart
