Aha, so the prince had acknowledged her! "Piers," she responded in her usual tone. "And you are Ephraim. Reputation precedes you. I'm from Jehanna, myself, but I've spent a good deal of time in Grado. It's quite the honor to meet you personally." She sealed that salutation with a nod. Unfortunately, some people had the perfect way to ruin a scene...

...If Marina had had a visible vein in her forehead that twitched when someone pissed her off immensely, it would be twitching right now. Unfortunately, she was devoid of bodily rage meters, so her actions would have to do. Was Jaren insane? Or did he just not take the time to exactly ruminate the consequences of his actions? Either way, Marina was now pissed. She hesitated, still facing away from the boy. "Excuse me?" she growled quietly. Her next actions then consisted of spinning around, seizing him fiercely by his shirt, and ramming him into the wagon. "Do you mind?" she hissed. "The entire caravan would prefer if you stopped being such a jackass." She then dragged him along, throwing him against the hot sand, and with a quick motion had her lance out and pointed at him. "And if you ever call me a 'chick' again," she spoke just a bit louder, "I may just be inclined to turn you into one." With those words, the lance's blade migrated further south, harmlessly jabbing against his crotch: for now.

Also, starting a fight amongst the rescue team is NOT a good idea. At all.]

(WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT IT'S AN AMAZING IDEA
CHARICE WOULD DESTROY LIKE, HALF THE TROUPE
OKAY PROBABLY NOT BUT CLOSE
...Anyway.)

Charice continued along, head down, cloth close to her face. She could feel the sweat starting to get out and about on her head. She'd forgotten how long it was since she was last in the desert, and as a result had forgotten the extreme heat. It would take her a little time to adjust, but at least she'd dressed properly... until the sands colored the fabric brown, the sun's rays would be reflected from the white cloth, and the loose robes would help air circulation, keeping her cooler than the other group members.

Aphrodite continued to walk, but kept looking towards the skyline... flying up high would be overall better for her than walking along with the rest of the group. She was still able to keep up, using her wings if she came into a patch of softer sand, but she was clearly eager to take to the sky and fly. Only her loyalty to her rider kept her from doing so... until Charice allowed her to fly, Aph wouldn't do so.

Joshua tired of this mans loud overreacting as a loud rumble came from far off in the distance.. Striding forth after Jaren had been ripped out of his hand the young King clapped a hand on Piers shoulder. "Perhaps you should unlock him and stop chasing away people willing to help. This isn't about you. Its about that little girl." A pungent smell filled his nostrils. "Besides do you smell that? Luckily we're downwind of them but thats the smell of corpse. We may have trouble on our hands." Joshua squeezed the mans shoulder lightly.

Letting go of the man he turned towards the smell they were to still far to see anything but in the desert smell could travel quite far on the whipping winds.

And that was a smell hed never forget. "Ahili. We could have trouble on our hands. I suppose you have a plan?"

Tossed on the ground Jaren would have scrambled back away from the lance had the wagon not been at his back. He gulped heavily. He needed those.

"WWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!"

There was a cry of help in the desert if those who had sharp hearing. Those who had sharp eyes would see a cloud of dust fluttered in the sky. If looking closer, they would see a young man in a green cloak running desperately toward them. Unfortunately, that brown-haired fellow didn't notice them from afar. For he was too busy trying to run away.

"Hey! Come back here!" A shout was heard further. "We just want you to be the boss's sex slave!"

Not far from the young man was a band of bandits chasing after him. Swords and axes were swung wildly as they tried to catch him. Sages and mages cast their thunder spells, hoping he would stop dead on his track when being nearly hit by them.

Sands shot up from the ground as thunder spells hit. Although it had made the young man paused in his track, he continued to run.

"Hit the lance!" One of the bandits shouted to the magic users. "That should act like a lightning rod to stop him!"

More spells were cast, but missed. One nearly hit the tip of the young's man lance that was attached to his back, but the man was too quick. However, the bandits did not give up the chase.

"Hey! Get your sweet a** back here!"

A pungent smell filled Charice's nostrils as well, but it smelled nothing like that of corpses. Perhaps being king of Jehenna for years on end had dulled Joshua's senses? No, that was the smell of... well, animals. Namely, Mihira's wyvern and her pegasus. Both had trekked quite a distance and were certainly quite sweaty by now. She frowned. Sorry, girl, but it's a bit dangerous to be flying about in the desert...

Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed some faint colors of brown in the distance. She turned, and could make out a dust cloud rising. But there's not enough wind to make a sandstorm or anything like that, she mused. That means there really IS something out there. So what is it?

Warily, she mounted her pegasus, which was all too eager to FINALLY take off, deciding that if she got yelled at, so be it. She wasn't stupid enough to charge into the fray solo. But as she got closer, she could see figures emerging from the dust storm. Bandits? ...Chasing somebody. "Uh oh..."

Making a quick turn backward, she started waving frantically at Alihi. "Alihi! Ma'am! We've got a problem. Bandits are heading our way, pursuing someone with a lance!"

She looked back at the approaching dust cloud.

"...And I think they're moving a bit fast for us to just get around them," she added loudly, coming back down to land on the ground.

It. Was. Hot.

The more the temperature climbed, the more Ninian wished she was still in the infirmary, or even back in the inn where they had spent the night. But then she would not be able to help Alihi or Amara, and they mattered more than her comfort at the moment. She was grateful that Nils had not come; he took to the heat even less than she did. Fortunately, Ninian rode in the shade of Ganon's covered wagon. She knew enough to ration her water, only taking small sips very rarely. Her lightweight clothes helped, especially with the lack of a breeze. She felt bad for everyone who walked in the open, the harsh sun beating down on them, but there was nothing any of them could do about that. The wagon was only so big, and they had to cross this desert to get to Amara.

And so, Ninian sat in the back of Ganon's wagon, wishing the heat did not affect her so, and praying for Amara's safety. She heard the conversations around her, but none of them concerned her, so she remained silent, trying to keep her mind off her reoccurring dream.

Without warning, the back of her head began to ache, just as someone outside the wagon screamed softly, as if they were far away.

"Ah!!

She moved to look out the wagon, searching for the source of the screaming and shouting. When she didn't hear anything for a moment, she thought it only an illusion, just a figment of her imagination. And then she saw the dust cloud.

Dust clouds are not caused unless the wind is blowing, which it is not, or someone is kicking up the sand. Is someone over there? Or more than one someone?

"Alihi?" she called, worried mostly because of the slight pain in her head. "Alihi, what is that?" She pointed to the dust cloud farther off. The more she watched it, the more she was sure that someone was there. And that someone was moving towards them.

A Pegasus Knight flew towards Alihi, having flown up to investigate the cloud. She cried out, waving frantically towards the tactician.

Bandits were coming, chasing someone who held a lance. The closer they got the the band of FEFers, the more Ninian's head throbbed.

The Scripts of Strategy

An uproar from over the dunes compelled the direction of their eyesight, and the behemoth's three heads imitated the motion of their rider's head turning toward the source of the horrific noise. The mage would have uttered a sound of mild intrigue and surprise, but the two were possessed of something like an oath to silence, so instead they observed in meager fascination as another band of men (with seemingly questionable intent) spilled over the desert toward the first caravan. The beast tossed its center head with a snort.

Well, now things were heating up. Soren could not exactly discern it they were heating up literally, as he hadn't regarded whether the sun was in its rise or its descent. Nevertheless, he would have at least more to watch than a simple line of parched and exasperated visitors marching along.

Their attention was drawn by a lone figure dashing in a desperate escape from the many pursuers blotting the horizon. He seemed like just another little thing from this distance, kicking up frenzied clouds of sand that the others were fortunate enough to avoid. The agitated cry and the green cloak were of the utmost familiarity to him. It didn't take long for the recognition to click, as Soren would not forget his encounters with the tactician from the previous year.

His companion was imitating every movement of his head as he glanced between the bandits and the heroes. The bandits were hollering things of...unusual nature, and Soren was in a foul mood for bloopers, but he and his companion were rooted to the spot anyway. They had to see this. Soren adjusted and lounged on the beast's back. In turn, the creature kneeled and settled into the sand, each head attentively watching the scene unfold.

Alihi turned to Joshua. Her mind flashed back to the previous night, with her "planning" that looked more like doodles than battle strategies. Really, she didn't have anything definite when it came to strategy; any good plan leaves room for adaptation. She hesitated for a few moments, trying to figure out exactly what to say. "Well... I have parts of plans. But not a full, complete one yet, since--" She cut herself off, hearing her name called from above. --usually, things change quickly and call for a different strategy. Her eyes widened slightly and she nodded to Charice. Bandits, chasing someone? "Alright!" She whipped around, looking at the rest of the group.

"Prepare for battle, guys! We've got to help whoever they are chasing!" As she said this, she drew out her rapier. She turned to her brother and Ninian, her expression softening. "Akihi, Ninian, stay closer to the back. You both are more vulnerable than the others." She saw her brother sheepishly nod, clutching his tomes to himself, which comforted her slightly. Next, she turned to red-headed lord. "Roy. Protect your mother." She turned to the rest of the group. "I'll protect Akihi. Everyone else, be ready for anything!" Her eyes focused forward, in the direction that she was sure that the bandits were. She could see the dust cloud, getting bigger and bigger. It wouldn't be long until they could clearly see their figures.

Soon, they could be forced into battle.

Jaren had already scrambled up on hearing the shout.

He was gone man there we're people to save! Dashing through the desert he hadn't made it far before he realized something

He was still handcuffed.

"OH CRAP!" He yelled. Still running across the desert

"That moron." Joshua muttered. On the move behind Jaren Joshua caught up to him and drew his steel sword on the run. Using one hand to grab the green haired swords mans shoulder and the other one to cut through the handcuffs that kept Jarens hands behind his back. Stopping the two of them he looked back and was surprised to see that they were quite far ahead of the others.

"Great.... you really don't think things through do you?" he told Jaren. "Oh well guess we're the front line."

Jaren looked at his feet. "I'm sorry I just wanted to help him." He said looking up and pulling out his wooden sword. The sword was made of thick solid wood and curved like a scimitar hard enough to stop real swords and fast enough to break limbs and ribs Jaren would have to make do with it.

"It's fine... looks like youll get to prove yourself now.... what bad luck though running into them here."

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Abel was exhausted. He hated the desert. He hated it so very much. He wanted to just take everything off, but that would be.. more than less accepted by everybody else. He still had water, because he knew how to ration, but it took all the willpower he had to not drink it all. He had lived on his own and learned how to survive, but he never went to the desert for a reason. He hated the extreme heat!

Still, he knew that he had to do this. Alihi may not want him here, but he still knew what the right thing to do was. He could stick it out for as long as it took. And he would.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. "Two tousand fy-hundred, eh? If notin' bettah comes outta dis, least I got some treasah." Deborah's comment was clearly insensitive, but she didn't mean it the way it would sound to perhaps Alihi. She merely meant that she was still unsure if the deal she made would be honored or not.

As they continued further, Deborah heard the sound of wings flapping behind her. She turned around to see that the pegasus knight in their group had suddenly soared into the air. "Deh hell?" What was this girl thinking? This was not an area that Deborah thought it would be safe to scout around in. However, before Deborah could yell, the girl was waving wildly toward her, and calling Alihi's name. Deborah looked out toward the cloud coming toward them. Black figured were mixed within. The knight was correct, bandits were coming toward them. "Damn, dey comin' at us too fast!"

Abel jumped a little, when orders started being shouted by Alihi and Deborah, and then more yelling from.. about.. ..everybody else. He had been lost in his own thoughts, so he didn't catch what was going on at first. Looking around, people were rushing to prepare to defends themselves. That was when he saw the bandits coming toward them. Or at least, everybody else was calling them bandits, so he figured it was safe to assume that's what they were. In response, he took out his sword from his back, and held it out, after he ran to the front. If something was going to try to harm the group, he was make sure he dealt with it. He wasn't going to hide in the back. He was ready. "Bring it, bandits!"

Deborah turned to the rest of the group. "Get ya weapons ready! Listen to deh tactician, and do as she say!" She ran out and faced the direction the bandits were coming from. "Don' let some small pack a filth break deh group! Stand ya ground!!" By this point, the group was almost upon them. The fighting would begin, soon.

-Ephraim-

--------------------

"I didn't my reputation precedes me that much" Ephraim replied, a little embarassed if one would say about that. Surely he wasn't that popular unless they were talking about his fighting abilities. But even so, to lose to Dussell so many times..his own teacher..Guess that's what they call an apprentice and pupil. "Its nice to meet you too, Piers" Grado huh? When was the last time he heard someone from there that didn't hate him. It couldn't be helped, after all, their king was gone.

Piers and Ephraim's conversation was suddenly interrupted by what looked like a band of bandits. Deborah ordered them to get their weapons ready and the prince did just that. "Don't need to tell me twice"

With one swift movement, Reginleif was at the palm of his hand. Lets get the show on the road, is what the lancer would liek to say..but that would totally be out of character. Ephraim blamed the heat and likely this battle would make it worse. Endure man, Endure.

I shall now demonstrate the Law of Sacae
Tribesmen fighting with all they have for the sake of one another!

~)Sue(~

Sue woke up from her slumber, grateful to be clean after the bath she took from the previous night. She made most of the trip with the rest of her group in silence, not in the the mood to speak that much. Again, the old teachings of her fellow nomads came to mind. "Don't speak unless there's something to say." There was nothing that came to mind. Everyone had gone mad with revenge. Sure, Amara was in danger, but would she want them all to come after Vika, a friend of FEF without even asking her why this happened?

She would have spoke her thoughts (certainly something to say) if Alihi hadn't given the shout to prepare for battle. In just a flash, the silver sword was out of its sheath, ready to battle some bandits. Although she normally hated violence, sometimes it was the only solution. "Alihi, your orders!" Sue shouted, riding up beside the green-clad tactician.

...Injured with pain and sadness, the you that cannot be healed
Shoulder the burden of the past that cannot be erased; don't throw away your
will to live...

[ X ][ O ]Blossom[ O ][ X ]

Blossom tensed as the others did, immediately closing the cap of her canteen and stuffing it away into her bag. Vezra found itself in her hands shortly after, and she gripped the weapon tightly in her fingers, finding a sort of reassurance in holding the weapon, even as the bandits continued to approach them.

Blossom moved closer to Alihi, finding solace in the group atmosphere as trouble came closer and closer. The instructions were simple--Akihi and Ninian were to say safe, Roy was to protect his mother and Alihi to protect her brother. The others were to simply be on their guard. I can do that. I can do that.

The little Hero shifted her stance against the sand, watching nervously. They were really running fast; even if she ignored the gigantic dust cloud they were kicking up, their obscure forms were growing more and more detailed by the second. Blossom reached up with one hand to adjust her bandanna, still holding Vezra, but as she saw the one being chased more clearly, his form emerging from the swirling sands for a second, Blossom nearly dropped her sword.

A lance. Brown hair. A big green cloak. Blossom couldn't think of anyone else who fit that description, not anyone she knew. Her face paled and her eyes widened, but determination hardened her expression and tightened her grip on Vezra's hilt.

"Aidan!!"

[Huey, if you're reading this, I'm sorry for taking control of your character or makes him slightly OOC. Just that a certain member will shoot me if we're not moving. ;3;]

Aidan ran as fast as possible. The bandits were chasing right after him. How did he run into them? He didn't want to ask. Just thinking of becoming a sex slave to their boss was enough to send him the shiver despite the heat of the desert.

The heated sweats were dripping from his forehead. He was getting tired. He was heated up from the sun. He was also getting thirsty too. However, he had to run. Away from those bandits. However, how could he outran them if they were so determined to capture him?

Lightnings shoot from the sky, blasting the sands up from the ground as if a bomb had fell from the sky. Aidan swerved and dodged as much as possible not to get hit. However, he also didn't plan of stopping and attacking the bandits by himself. There were many of them.

Aidan continued to run. Ran as his legs could carry him. As he ran, he noticed something up ahead of him. Narrowing his eyes while running, the tactician could see it was a group of caravan. As he get closer, he noticed that they had their weapons drawn and ready to battle. Were they thinking that the bandits were coming after them to raid?

The tactician felt shame to himself. He didn't want to cause trouble to the group for his trouble. He didn't meant to. But if they were to help him, he would be grateful of them. Any help would be thankful as long as he wasn't being chased.

As he ran, he suddenly took a good look at the people. These groups.... They looked familiar. It wasn't long until he realized one particular person among the group that made his heart leaped. It was Blossom. So that would mean that the people she traveled with were his friends.

Happied that they were here to help, Aidan ran toward them.

"Hey, come back here!" One of the bandits called as they continued the chase. It wasn't long until they saw a group of caravan ahead of them. And it looked like the young man was heading toward them too.

"Do you think we should pull back?"

"And let him go? Never! I say let's get him along with these people ahead! I'm sure some of them will be approval to be the boss's sex slaves!"

"But what if they-"

"Quit your whining and get them! If they resist, use force on them and fight!"

"R-right!"

"CHARGE!" The bandit yelled out as the others let out a battle cry. It had been ages since they had their last raid; and they weren't going to let a little group of caravan to stop them.
