"Then I suppose I'll just have to come and collect on the second date."

Hematite only smiled at the comment about his 'dark energy', like it was some kind of crass joke too impolite to be laughed at aloud. There was something about lying on the ground and being interrogated that re-energized his fighting spirit. He was glad at least of the opportunity not to have to be running around and exerting himself. "My little group? That's quite an assumption you're making, Sailor Tisiphone. How do you know I'm not a senshi as well? You can't expect all sailor scouts to flounce around Destiny City in short skirts when the weather gets this cold."

"Not to mention, you seem to know star seeds yourself. Awfully suspicious, huh?" A gurgling laugh, and then another blood-spit. "Thinking that way, I should be asking you what the Negaverse wants."

"Innocent how?" he asked, eyes glittering. "Innocent of hatred and suspicion and apathy? Innocent of sins and violence and destruction? Innocent enough that they were above killing no matter the circumstances, Tisiphone? I don't believe I've ever heard of an innocent before. Can't say what good it does to ask me why anyone would attack something that doesn't exist."

Dear goodness he talked more than a gossip girl at the Crystal Academy. She glowered at him, her voice losing any jest it had previously held, "Have you never read energy waves before? Your power source is not that born of a senshi, but of a collective group. Don't play stupid games with me." It was a shame that she had no idea how to sense those energy waves until they were already in use and were strong. It would certainly be nice to see a Negaversian a mile away, but it wasn't really a skill she knew how to train. Tisiphone figured it was more of an instinct born with every senshi that allowed them to get that chill feeling to know when something was amiss, otherwise they'd be late to pretty much every party.

Tisiphone was about to respond to his denial of the existance of innocence, but her mind tripped on the corner of it. Well, yes, all humans bore hatred, violence, a tendency towards destruction.. She knew this, she had witnessed it many a nights of crime hunting. The girl shrugged off the feeling of hesitation, "The innocent may have these human feelings, but they don't act on them. That is what makes them worthy of protection."

She gave him a level stare, "Besides, that's what I'm here for. To pull the weeds out of the flower garden. So then. You have nothing to tell of the Negaverse? Not even the name of a leader, nothing?" Her last sentence was oddly ominous.

"Buzzkill," he remarked flatly. He'd hoped to give her a little confusion or self-doubt, but that clearly wasn't going to happen. Stupid energy waves. The blood had stopped dripping down his face, finally. For all the romancing he'd been attempting with this senshi he must have looked a mess.

"Humans are animals," he countered, "they're sheep. Herd them into your pen to be used and slaughtered, or ignore them and leave them to the wolves among them; they'll never think to save themselves. They're weak and defenseless, they have to be guided, disciplined. They live to follow. You say you're protecting them, but you're just choosing to herd them your own way, because you think you know what's best for them. Am I wrong? I mean, neither of us is a mere human at this point."

"Why bother with a name when I could take you to meet the head honcho in person? That is, if you're so bold," he grinned. No senshi would be dumb enough to accept the offer, but he could only imagine how Charonite would react to a senshi who wanted to face him down right in his office. "Okay, I'll tell you one thing, but that's all you're getting out of me on this first date. My name's Lieutenant Hematite, and I'm part of the Negaverse. Ooh, surprise!"

Tisiphone was getting a little tired of having to defend the humans from a verbal attack. They did enough of that on their own, "Even sheep deserve the greener pastures once in a while." She sighed, rubbing her temples, "Besides, sheep don't have to bother with morals or complex philosophical debates. Humans have earned their right to chose a path to follow in life. It's their own decision on what the meaning of life is, so let them do what they will on the condition that they don't harm another."

She stood back up, frowning, "I'll pass on that invitation. Perhaps another time." Looking down on him, she gave a sigh, "If that's all you have to offer.. I suppose you've been beaten enough to be on line with the girl you made suffer, but I'm doubting you've learned your lesson."

The soldier leaned down, grabbed the dread-locked boy by the scruff of his shirt and hoisted him up with both her hands, dragging him to a wall where she pinned him with her hands. She gingerly placed the palm of her hand on his chest, as if warning him that she could put a void right there on his heart. Leaning in, her lips were close enough to his ear that her breath could tickle his skin, and she whispered with a dark tone, "I've killed before.. humans.. so don't think you'd be the first. The girl lived, so you may keep your life this night. Why don't you go pick up your little chain, Lieutenant Hematite, and we can both be on our way."

Without waiting for a reply, she released him and turned. It was almost saddening that it had felt like the longest conversation she had managed to hold since coming to the city, and it was with a less than ideal person. She sighed. Some of his words were, admittedly, disturbing. But those were thoughts for another day.

Hematite rolled his eyes. "Your heart bleeds for animals who'd just as soon kill each other. And there you go, establishing your own rules, building a nice little fence for your sheep. If it's alright for you to do, I don't see why we can't do the same thing."

"Hey-!" Hematite began to protest as she lifted him from the ground, but he soon found himself pinned against a wall. The way she was doing things was very nearly intimate, which surprised the hell out of the lieutenant. The senshi b***h was playing pretty damn hard to get, and now this? He decided then and there that he was never, ever going to understand women. What he did understand, however, was that this woman had the gall to threaten him. Sure, he wasn't going to stand up to it (the placement of her hand on his chest combined with her power to BLOW A HOLE IN THINGS being reason number one), but a senshi threatening him was still a grave insult. He was their superior. Next time he wouldn't be so stupid as to give her the chance to live. Even if he found Charonite that goddamn star seed down the line, he'd be back for hers. She was on the ******** list.

Hematite glared silent daggers at the girl until she let him go and began to leave. His watch could rot here for all he cared - he could find another. Getting the last word in was a much stronger urge than to pick through garbage looking for a piece of replacable junk. "I won't forget this! Next time, you'll be too late to save anyone! You hear me!?"

Without waiting to find out if she'd change her mind on letting him live, he ran, shame and embarrassment and vengeance burning inside of him with every step.
