Celandine couldn't help it; she snickered. Of course he would bring up that terrible prank on Vrabel. Though she really tried to be at least somewhat mature on a daily basis, the truth was, Celandine had a very spirited and sometimes childish temperament. Compared to Vrabel, who was so uptight and stiff about just about everything, it was only natural that she would want to have a little fun with him once in a while.
It pleased her that they were able to joke around together, even a little bit, and she couldn't help her heart swelling. Really, she thought she and Kureno were close to being friends. For all that she was an open, charming mare (at least, she thought she was charming, right?) she didn't actually have a lot of friends. She had Vrabel, of course, but he was her Bonded, and sometimes he was more like a watchful father-figure than anything else. Then there was Einarr; sweet, angry, misguided Einarr, who had latched onto her and decided that he was terribly possessive of her. If she'd been interested in him at all in a romantic sense, that would have probably annoyed her. She didn't do well when it felt like someone was trying to keep her grounded, so to speak.
And, well, of course, there was Viraj. He was a true delight, and so funny with Einarr. She definitely considered him her friend, and almost like a surrogate brother. Together, they were forming a kind of pseudo family for her; roots, and a reason to continue to smile in the Kawani lands.
A little overcome with the pleasure of it all, she swept her head to the side gently, brushing her cheek against Kureno's. The touch was fleeting, but it was a way for her to express both her gratitude and pleasure without words. Somehow, she thought words wouldn't work quite as well; they could always be misunderstood, after all, and she might even embarrass him. She didn't want that, when things seemed to be going so well.
"Hey, Kureno." She tilted her head down, chin tucked against her chest, and exhaled. "Are there honeybees nearby? I smell honey."
She could really go for something sweet just then. Though her mood had largely improved, she'd only had honey once since arriving to the lands, and she loved it. Any opportunity for the sweet was a good one in her opinion.
