Prompt 1st-Most of you are people that have been killed by this monster. It tore you up and ate you. You must now write a journal entry from your point of view that describes how you feel now that you know that it hadn't died, your fears for your Pundu now that it has to deal with the monster, and what you think should be done.
2nd-Your pundu is still young, and hasn't really faced death or been introduced to mixed cultures. From your pundus point of view, write what they fear or expect from this whole event, and what they plan to do to help out or save their own skins.
Echo paced; at least she would be if she still had substantial legs. She had been doing so for days now. "How could this be?" she mumbled. It wasn't possible, was it? That was so long ago..... "at least; I think it was!"
Yaotzin was practicing with a wooden spear again. Ever since he grew to a child, he practiced every day. By now, the young demonic was used to Echo's many times pointless chatter. Currently, however, he noticed how preoccupied his Watcher was....and how her 'pointless chatter' had shifted to something more downcast and serious (even though he had no idea what about). "What are you talking about Echo?" Yaotzin growled.
Echo paused and stared at the pundu. He usually didn't initiate a conversation. "The monster.... it is still alive!" she squeaked.
"Monster? What monster? Can I kill it?" Yaotzin stood and brandished his spear.
The Watcher sighed, slightly impressed the demonic was prepared to fight, for her?, but upset because she didn't think he had listened to what she had said before. "This isn't any normal monster, Yaotz. This is the creature that killed me, and so many other Watchers. Many tried to defeat it, to no avail..." Echo paused. She looked at her young charge. He was so ready for battle, but he can not win against this creture. The demonic pundu was too young and inexperienced. He would need the help from so many others!
Yaotzin rolled his eyes, "Yeah yeah....! But you didn't have me! I am the best warrior on the Island, you know!" He swung the spear and then stumbled and fell to the ground.
Echo was too concerned about Yaotzin's attitude that she didn't laugh, "You are still just a child..." Almost immediately, she saw her little brother, who had much the same attitude, being ripped apart and eaten by the beast. When it was done, all of its attention had turned to her. Echo whimpered slightly as she felt again the pain and horror of dying.
Under her breath, Echo sighed, "Dying is not a glorious thing...nor is it another adventure. It is painful and can never be undone. True, the moment after death is peaceful, and calming for some..... but it is so permanent. Do you wish for that, Yaotzin? Do you wish to die? If you try and fight this monster alone, that will be the result. You will be dead, and never again will you feel the sun on your back... or the feel of a spear in your hands."
Yaotzin stared at the spear in his hands during the Watcher's little speech. He knew nothing about death....but he knew he was more than willing to deal the blows. It didn't matter what Echo said, he was a warrior... and if death came from that, so be it! Of course, he didn't really care what he was fighting for, as long as he faught. "Whatever...."
The child walked a few steps, continuing to practice with his spear. After a while, Echo continued her brooding and thinking; while the pundu simply tuned her out.

Yaotzin was outside, chipping obsidian for arrow and spear points.
Echo was nearby, watching. If she had lips, she would have been chewing on the bottom of one. She still didn't approve of all this behavior -even after all this time- but was unable to stop any of it. "Why... why are you doing this?" she blurted, coming closer.
The demonic pundu didn't look up, "What do you mean?"
Had he ever been childish? Echo thought. She was distracted, for he had responded to her... which had been rare these days. Usually, all he did was make weapons to practice by himself. Then, he would use them by himself. He kept his thoughts to himself. There was a pattern here, and it worried the Watcher, "Why..." She continued, changing what she was going to ask, "Why don't you play with any of the others?"
"Why would I?" Yaotzin asked, not looking up, just chipping away.
"Well... you should be with others, play, learn.... interact, be social!" Echo wanted to throw arms up.
"So.... what if I don't want to..." he mumbled.
Echo came closer, practically breathing down his neck, "What is so wrong with them? Why don't you want to be with them?"
He finally set his work down and turned to her direction. "Nothing is wrong with them, I just don't really care."
"I don't believe you," she blurted, "if that was the case, why make weapons and learn to use them in their defense?"
Yaotzin didn't really have an answer... he honestly didn't know. He wanted to protect them, but not be with them. "Just because I don't like them... doesn't mean they deserve to die."
Echo was taken aback, "I think that was the nicest thing I have ever heard you say!"
The pundu grunted, turned, and went back to his work.
