Toby watched Ellie practically gulp one of the chilis without so much as a minor complaint. He stared, disbelieving, and she claimed it was 'good sh- err stuff'. This girl was really on a planet of her own!
Somewhere between impressed and a little ashamed (at his own act in comparison), he listened to Ellie talk about her mom's antics. If it were up to him, he'd probably take the clothing and hide it somewhere: these days it was so hard to come by perfectly good clothing! He opened his mouth, about to voice that opinion, when something grumbled.
Namely, his stomach grumbled, followed by what felt like his insides pulling themselves out. He made a face, and was pretty sure it was a miracle if he hadn't turned green at this point. Oh man, oh man.
Clutching his stomach with one arm, Toby attempted his best to smile at Ellie. "Hey um, I, uh, suddenly remembered I have something to do." At this point his stomach gave another burbling 'What the heck did you feed me' growl and he thought he was going to pass out. Quickly, he fumbled in his pockets for the five dollar bill and put it on the table hastily. "It-it was great seeing you, sorry about the rush, um, hope to see you around ok?"
Without so much as waiting for a reply, he rushed out the door, looking for the nearest pharmacy. Screw pharmacy, at this point, not passing out in the middle of the streets was good. Alleyway, alleyway, alleyway, trashcan! Covetously opening it up with disregard to the smell, he regurgitated most of his lunch.
After a couple more minutes of this process, a little more relieved, Toby wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and personally berated himself for lack of foresight: wasn't there a washroom in the restaurant too? Oh well, at this point, he didn't even have enough energy to talk. With a little sigh, he hobbled down the next street, onto a stairwell, and closed his eyes just for a quick second.
A nasty splitting headache was edging its way into his skull too. Next time, he reminded himself, it would probably be nice to ask before I eat something.

Ellie's brow quirked up curiously at Toby's sudden change in plans, but she decided not to make a big deal about it.
"It's cool!" she chimed in as she took up the boy's money. She wasn't in a rush, so as the boy seemed to flee, she just continued to eat her newly obtained peppers.
So her plans had changed slightly. It was no bother to her at all.
