Post your favorite food.
Yeah, I don't understand why some people suck so much at cooking. It's pretty easy if you're not an idiot. You can't be afraid to experiment, though.

I think people are just a smidgen too scared to play it by ear in the kitchen.
(I'm terrible at giving cooking instructions. "How much do I need?" "Some." "How long shall I set the timer for?" "I don't know - until it's done?")
Also some people are just stupid.

Ramen and salads have been good lately. I'd make some tomato soup and grilled cheese but I don't have bread. I like my tomato soup to be a little spicy. I"ll add some crushed red peppers and a few drops of Louisiana Hot Sauce.

Me and a friend made this concoction out of some weird Chinese vinegar that this international student brought, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, some olive oil, and flour to thicken it up into a saucy thing and poured it over noodles. It was actually pretty good with some soy sauce, salt, and pepper thrown in.

Why does it continue to amaze my flatmates that I will make things like lentil soup from scratch rather than buy it canned?

I would only cook soup from scratch if I had friends over or a lot more space to store it. It's all about making a fridge-freezer full of Tupperware.

I'm a fan of making things I've had from a can before. I take out tastes I didn't like, and add ones that would taste good with what's left.
Like I had this weird canned gumbo, (Stores here have some off-the-beaten-path s**t) and then the next day I took a look at the freezer and made some shrimp and vegetable gumbo. It was delicious once you threw in some hot sauce.

Also I wish people would stop asking me what I was making/eating when I just chuck s**t together. "Ooh, that looks good, what is it?" "Um... meat and... vegetables?" gets tiring after a dozen repeats.
And herbs and spices are not amazing novelties. D:
Yeah, I need to complain in this thread because people seem to think I'm some amazing cook and it's bugging me.
