to to unlock the the 2 headed plant, Tartan, you must first befriend takakura. the easiest way to befriend him is by giving him any home cooked meal. if he does not take it at first, talk to him twice a day for 2 or 3 days and then present him with the gift. make sure to talk to takakura and give him one gift everyday until the end of the first chapter.
Durring the 2nd chapter enter takakura's house after 6pm. *NOTE* Takakura must be in the house in order for the event to trigger. *ALSO NOTE* this may take a few tries, it might not happen the first time. it took 2 tries for me. an easy way to have takakura in his house is order something cheap like chicken food. it increases the possibility of him being in the house. talk to takakura in his house and the event may or may not trigger. if it doesnt try again tommorrow.
*NOTE* You will not be able to Unlock tartan after chapter 2. If you didnt befriend takakura and trigger the event before summer of the second chapter then unfortunately you cannot take advantage of the hybreeding feature. the only thing to do is simply start over crying

Yeah, chapter 2 is when you have your son. if you are still in chapter 2 (early in the chapter, before fall) you can still get tartan, possibly. just go to takakura's house around 6pm but make sure hes there. the event should trigger when you talk to him or it may when you walk in the house.

cheesegrrl oh no cuz ive had my son for a wile now crying you could always start a new game on another file or memory card. You technically dont need tartan, he just makes the game more fun and you can make money faster with more ease. the same thing happened to me, i figured out how to get tartan durring my 3rd chapter, so i just started a new file, but kept the old of course, and married a different person, and also got, tartan as well as ruby spice (which i missed out on in my last file) its a shame you cant unlock tartan at anytime... O.O it really sux. stressed
