"Thank you!" she gave the tailor a smile. Slipping slender fingers into the leather and metal she eyed them critically. Well, it would never be fashion, but hopefully she would never bleed all over the mending again. She followed him across the shop, peeking at the pile of leathers he found. "I like these two colors." she said eventually, pointing to the red and near-black leathers. "Either of them would please me."
She paused. "Actually, make it the dark one, please. The red would be a bit too flashy, and it would reflect the dirt a bit much." she flushed at her vanity. "And what cost will it be running for the gloves?"

Kita just gives a thoughtful nod to her thanks, already in his mind planning out how he'd cut the leathers for each part of the gloves to really catch all of what was being said. Sliding the dark and red leathers away from the assortment he nods again. Good choices.
"The darker leather may be a bit sturdier too actually. The grain is finer in this batch. And you wanted the leather thicker in the palms for more support?" He pauses a moment to think over the price. "Well, I don't have a chance to do many gloves, but I like doing something new. It would be a mark and a half per glove. I'd only take one mark now though, the rest you will pay when you come to pick them up and have any adjustments made to them." And her hands look relatively small. If he were being asked to make a rider's gloves they'd be more pricey for the materials, and size.

Grain in leather? Well, she'd take the tailor at his word, she knew nothing about hides. "The more support the better. I'm trying to get something to keep my hands from getting too calloused." she held out the sad-looking pieces of flesh for his perusal. Some of the callouses were old, along her fingers from her instruments, but along her palms were red, throbbing sores.
His price made her bite her lip. She had the marks, but having to pay out three of them was a lot of money. Oh, the gloves would certainly be worth it, but she'd never spent that much on such a small item! She pulled out the first of the three, passing it over to Kita with a nod. "And how much would you like for the thimbles?" she looked over at Folen. "One of each sort for the both of us."

Folen took hold of his belt pouch palming some marks as he listened to Kita and Jadamirei talk of her purchases so he would be ready to pay for his portion of the thimbles. He nodded to himself at the pice quoted. It was well on par with what he had paid for his gloves previously. In fact it was even a bit less than what he had paid to be perfectly honest. It was nice to know for Talior wasn't going to try and fleese them because they were inexperienced candidates.
Quite the contrary, it was obvious he was giving Jadamirei a bit of a break price wise. It wasn't entirely altruistic of course. You make a happy customer and they might chose to come back to you in the future. Even so, it was appreciated. And Folen offered a smile to the tailor for his efforts.

Kita offers a light grin. He nods a bit and takes a quick look at her hands. "Alright I'll increase the padding for the palms. That must be uncomfortable though, have you seen a healer for something?" Surely they had a kind of balm for soothing calluses, right? They must, with so much work to be done all the time.
He looks thoughtful for just a moment. "The thimbles are fairly cheap actually, I could let them go for an eighth mark for all four." A quick nod, and he settles on it. "Yes, that should be about right. I usually buy them in larger amounts and the price is always different depending on where they were made." He never did really understand why, the materials and skills used were the same.

The dark head nodded, and Jadamirei reached into her pouch to pull out the eighth-mark for the tailor. "I haven't gone by a healer yet, they look worse than they feel." she gave a shy smile. "I'm sure everything will be fine once I've got the gloves." she looked pleased at the thought. "I appreciate your willingness to make them extra padded."
She looked thoughtful before turning to Folen. "Can you think of anything else you or I will need?" she asked her friend.

Folen rubbed his chin as he thought about what else they might need. As candidates they really didn't need a whole lot. The gloves were handy as were the thimbles but was there anything else? "Hmm, you know a spare mending kit for each of us might be a good thought. I know we can borrow mending supplies from the drudges. They are generally happy to help if they know it means we are going to be saving them work. But it would be handy to have our own kits."

Kita offers a light smile to that. "It's always what the customer wants, I wouldn't shy on the padding if you need it. It wouldn't be very wise to not give you what you ask, and pay for would it?" He spares a glance over to Folen before nodding, turning thoughtful. "An extra mending kit is never a bad idea, but how many threads do the ones you usually use have?"
Can't hurt to ask, the drudges might have slightly different kits than they did back at Weaver hall, or contained different sized needles than his own supplies.

((OOC: I really have no idea what would be a reasonable amount. XD Or how they store them. Would they have something like spools do you think? I'll be happy to change anything needing changing.))
Folen thought about the kit he had gotten from the drudges. Mostly they just kept a few small packets of basic colors. White, gray, and black. The fancier dyed threads were too costly to keep in a mending kit.
"I think there were two each of white black and gray. There are several needles of various lengths to deal with the different fabrics. One large needle for leather and heavy fabrics. Two medium sized needles for more moderate fabrics and one small needle for fine detail work." Tapping the side of his head in thought the candidate continued thinking out loud. "Oh and I shouldn't forget one curved darning needle. It comes in very handy at times."

For her part, Jadamirei simply gave a shrug and a grin, leaving that bit of information up to her friend. Frankly she knew little enough about mending to make her more of a hindrance than a help in planning.
With a smile, she leaned back against the wall, careful that she wasn't going to be disturbing anything, and waited for Folen and the tailor to make their decisions.

Kita turns thoughtful to that, giving a nod. "That isn't too poor a supply. I'm not sure I'd be able to find needles this moment to put together a mending set. But, by the time you return to pick up your gloves I will have them. WOuld that suit you?" Which reminded him, he really did need a better way to keep his shop organized so that he could find things easier.
Once that is said though, he turns to Jada again. "I do need to take measurements of your hands though so the gloves are made the right size. Would you care to have a seat on the bench?"

The deal sounded fair and Folen nodded gladly. "That would be perfect, thank you. We can always borrow kits from the drudges until we can get our own so it's not an emergency or anything. It will just be nice to have our own kits. I hate always having to borrow one. The drudges don't mind, but even so if it's something we are going to be using that often why not have our own?"

The girl moved over to the bench, plopping down with a smile. "Do you need me to stretch out my fingers or anything?" she asked, flexing her hands and eying them critically.
Her nails were dirty, and her palms rather did look a little bit of meat. Perhaps she should go pay a visit to one of the healers after this, just to make sure nothing got infected. She'd been so busy she'd been neglecting her limbs, except for keeping them clean of basic dirt. That would be very bad, if something happened to her hands.
