Begging to be picked on was an understatement. The boy's general demeanor made him seem like he was practically groveling at the feet of his peers to be picked on sometimes, in all honesty.
Luckily for Marlo, this meant that Simon's meek nature penetrated far beyond that thin outer layer of first impressions - quite possibly, down to the very core of his being. He was already slowly nodding before Marlo had finished spinning out his proposal, and for once he didn't hesitate in his response. "Sure. I mean, if you think it'll be okay," he responded, slowly crumpling the paper wrapper for their shared lunch between his fingers. "B-but you don't have to pay me back or anything. Really."

"..." If he thought it would be okay. This kid probably had some selective hearing. Hadn't Marlo mentioned that he was under Killingworth's food ban? Not the school's but just one teacher? The worst teacher in the world? And possibly the history of forever? Hey, if he was going to get food, every man for himself? The comment about Marlo not having to pay made him frown. The last thing he wanted was to have somebody hold this over his head. "No." His voice was forceful. It was clear where he stood on such matters. "I will pay for my meals. All you do is buy and deliver. You're doing alot for me, and the last thing I want is to take advantage of your good will." Well, more advantage then he was taking already. "Do we have a deal Simon?" He held out his hand. And if he said he'd pay one more time, Marlo was sure he would just...uhg.

Marlo's forceful no obliterated much of the calm he'd managed to accumulate over the course of the meeting. He was cringing now, looking quite similar to how he did during the first moment of their meeting, and subjected himself to nodding slowly and carefully, showing the other boy that he was listening and agreeing to what was being said.
Meekly, he accepted the handshake, managing a quiet "O-okay, alright" while doing so, and when the contact was over he swallowed nervously, wringing one of his wrists. "Y...you want me to m-meet you here again? Or s-somewhere else?"

Marlo felt a bit terrible for making the boy's attitude drop. He was so...wishy washy. "Here is fine, and by god, I'm not going to force you to do this or anything. I mean, geez." Pulling out his wallet once more, he shoved a ten in Simon's direction. "For tomorrow's breakfast and lunch? Dinner I can manage well enough, my roomie always brings in leftovers. It's just breakfast and lunch that leave me famished." He waved the bill at Simon. "And, for the record, I'm not usually this cranky. I apologize if I've come off as such."

"It's fine," Simon replied as he gingerly accepted the ten dollar bill, looking at it as if it were a note that was getting passed around the classroom before tucking it in his pocket next to the five. "Really, I don't mind." He said this in the practiced, passive tone of a complete pushover. It was likely he'd been made to do this sort of thing at least once before, if not on several occasions in his life at Hillworth.
He slowly stood up, and awkwardly rubbed at the back of his neck. "I'll see you tomorrow, then, I guess..."
