Easy, girl, easy.
Luci stood next to her queen, one hand on the side of her leg (she was far too big to reach anything else standing straight like that). The first hatching, this had been a nightmare, but by now she was used to maintaining control for both their sakes. It was hard on her to watch all the dragonets find someone more important than them. Just, not as much as it was for Dorath, and that was understandable.
The first egg began to shake, and among the humans, there was near perfected silence; as if everyone was holding their breath. The Sunrise Egg shook lazily. The dragon inside, however, was a patient one.
A crack near the top of the egg, and slowly, two whirling green eyes attached to a colorful bronze appeared. The dragon turned his head to the girls, then to the boys. Finally, he set his sights on the eggs around him. Eggs in front; eggs in back! Oh, dear.
The Weyleader couldn't help but chuckle. What a thoughtful look for such a young dragon.
The bronze, to the delight of the more feminine crowd who cooed over how adorable he was, seemed to shrug the matter off and retreated back inside his shell. For now. From the looks of things, he did so for no other reason than he didn't want to risk disturbing any of his clutchmates before they were ready. He could wait.

Raysan glanced over at Mishaal. He didn't know the boy but gave him the thumbs up sign. He appreciated the other boy's making sure they were too close. It was good to know who was standing close by so they'd not make any mistakes. Sure, none of them could be certain about what was to come but being prepared for anything made one less vulnerable later.
"I think we have a good spot." he finally said to Mishaal. The words released some of the tension that he needed to get rid of. "Seems like things are going to start at any time." He looked back over to the eggs and focused on the three of the triad puzzle that had left him with unanswered questions then his eyes moved on to the two that seemed completely self absorbed and ready to fight.
As he pondered the personalities he had felt he realized that some were more likely to erupt into action than others so maybe it was only a certain few that might cause trouble. "Ok...watch for those middle two...and that red one at least. Not too sure about the grouch but it's probably not going to be pleased if it can't find its partner fast." he muttered those words under his breath to no one in particular as he evaluated his personal strategy not wanting to miss any details.

Oh a bronze first to hatch! That was good luck wasn't it? Trista found herself smiling suddenly. The little bronze was entirely too adorable and had such good manners too. She couldn't help but wonder what his clutch mates would be like.

Uuni glanced over as a candidate lined up beside her. It was, surprisingly, not Avery or anyone else she knew for that matter.
It was with silence that she looked over this other girl and sized her up. Dragon material, or no? Oh, for Faranth's sake! What was she doing? This was ridiculous.
"You nervous?" she asked somewhat dumbly, because whoever wasn't was clearly a freak of nature and had mental issues. Therefore, they wouldn't be Impressing anyway and were completely irrelevant.
Her mouth was open to say something more, but nothing ever came out as the silence caught up to her. She turned her gaze slowly back to the Sunrise Egg as it stirred. And after that, she could spare attention for no one.
As the dragon shell began to crack near the top, Uuni found herself standing on her tip-toes in hopes she could see the dragon inside. There was little need, after the bronze showed its head and Uuni felt her heart sink for just a second.
Good luck, boys, she whispered in her mind, although some of it escaped as breath. Faranth help her if there were an unnatural amount of bronzes in this bunch.

A gasp invaded her lungs as the Sunrise egg cracked and the beauty of the first of the hatchlings met her eyes. The bronze Dragon looked this way and that, its eyes traversing over the faces of all of those present and, indeed, his clutchmates. Oh, what a handsome Dragon he was! Nothing short of breathtaking was his coloring and his seemingly studious demeanor. Amoreth found her breath was caught in her throat, and she quickly exhaled; forgetting to breathe would not be conducive to a successful Impression, nor successful observation.
The little bronze retreated back into his shell, making her chuckle softly. Content to wait for the others, she supposed. What a considerate young Dragon! She suddenly found herself wanting to get closer to it, but her logic rooted her feet to the spot. Amoreth stood there, unafraid, composing herself and keeping her cool even in the face of such a life-changing event.
No matter the outcome today, her life would forever be changed, all of the lives of each Candidate around her.. but for her, never before had she seen a hatchling Dragon this close before; the sheer grandeur of this hatching was enouch to ensure that it was etched into her mind forever.

Nadia smiled at the little bronze's response to hatching first, laughing slightly she took in the little hatchling all curled up in its egg and wondered who he would impress with when he decided to grace the rest of them with his presence. She stared intently at the eggs watching to see which one would be the next to hatch.

The blond boy turned his head to smile and after a thought, returned the thumbs to Raysan and nodded at what he said. He too relaxed and turned his gaze back to the eggs. He was considering saying something, but then the Sunrise egg decided to hatch and he forgot what he’d planned to say.
Mishaal chuckled, though he raised a hand to his mouth to smother it. He was delighted to see the colourful bronze observe them all with those brilliant green eyes only to settle back in his egg, seemingly to wait until some of his clutchmates had had their turn. Patience was a virtue!
Still. Better keep an eye on that one. If he didn't find His...that'd be a crying shame.

The eggs were hatching? Well it was about sharding time!
Janga gave the nearest female candidate a shoving, pushing her out of the way so she could get to her alcove faster. Whether you were there first or last rarely seemed to matter to the dragons, but it mattered to her. Dragons deserved to meet only the strongest and best candidates, and if she let the weaker girls get there first then they might think that was all they had to choose from. Why allow poor choices to occur when you could just stomp out those who weren't suited for a dragon? With her philosophy in mind, she yanked her candidate robe over her head and made her way towards the Hatching Sands. Thank Faranth it wasn't too hot yet.
Positioning herself in the front but slightly off centre, she folded her arms over her chest to wait. She didn't move when an egg shook, but watched it intensely. A bronze hatching and then staying put? Shards, what a wuss. That was just about the last thing this needed was a bronze who did absolutely nothing. "What a waste," she grumbled under her breath as the dragon didn't come towards the boys. The hatching was already starting out on a bad foot.

“Isn’t everyone?” Kestra replied to Uuni, with a grin. She wasn’t a girl Kestra was familiar with but down here on the sands, they were all candidates and all in the same boat, and Kestra wasn’t a shy girl anyway. However, the hatching of the bronze captured her attention before she could add anything. It was amazing to see this up close!
Faranth, he was a handsome little thing...not sure whether it was a good sign or not he went back into his shell... But let the boys keep their eyes on the bronze. Her eyes sought the egg that rocked the most, waiting for the next.

A bronze first. And... how strange. Instead of going straight for His, the colorful dragonet just... waited. Was there something wrong? He seemed almost more concerned about the other eggs than about finding His, and that went against everything Doremy thought he knew about Hatchings. Apparently, he'd been given some inaccurate information.
Either that, or this bronze was just unusual. Maybe he just needed to take his time, weigh all the options. Did dragons think that way? Doremy had assumed from the description that they came out of the shell already knowing who Theirs was, and it was just a matter of finding that person. But from the thoughtful looks this one was giving the gathered Candidates, and the other eggs as well...

The hatching of the bronze seemed to shake Rieta out of her trance. She stood straighter, shifting in place, her face taking on it's usual open, perhaps too wide, smile. She watched the dragon without worry, knowing that it could not be meant for her, that her heart need not beat any faster, she need not begin to whisper hopes that could not be contained.
When the bronze retreated back into his shell she laughed her loud, open chuckle and shook her head. "No time to stand back and guard the Queen now, boy. You've got your own chores to do."
But she said it in what might be called, for her, a whisper. At least, she didn't shout it. That was something.

So it was a bronze...and a cooing on at that! Raysan snorted as he collected a piece to the second puzzle! Now if only the two in front of that bronze would hatch, he'd be able to understand just a little better what was going on.
It wasn't hard to see that considerate face on the dragon as it thought about how to manage its way out of the egg patch. Raysan almost could agree with the decision to wait for the others. Why not...they had all day. Curiously, enough, he had to wonder who the dragon would choose. But he had a feeling that he'd be asking himself that question with every single sharding egg!

Patience wasn't a virtue for everyone. Not long after the first hatchling appeared, another egg shook, rattled and, yes, rolled. The Sweetheart Egg did a full circle and hit the sands with a thud. The collision with the Earth cracked the shell down the middle, and all at once, the yellow and pink pieces dropped off to reveal a very wide-eyed green.
Not near as graceful (and certainly not as courteous) as her bronze clutchmate, she glanced back and forth between the male and female candidates. Oh, wow! Who would have known the world was upside down like this?!
...No, wait. She was the one upside down.
With what could only be assumed to be a dragonic giggle, the newborn righted herself and stretched out much like a modern day feline. All the while, her eyes darted back and forth, back forth. Which way to go?
Aha! That way!
One loud, excited screech later, the green all but threw herself into the herd of male candidates. Although she was clumsy, she was fast, and together they were a bad combination. During her search she fell right into Doremy, one of her claws catching the side of his arm and leaving him with a mean looking scratch.
Uh oh! She hadn't meant to do that!

Ayisha's face flushed with pure elation as the thrum of dragon encouragement filled the air as she raced onto the Sands, her robes haphazardly flapping in the wind as she struggled to both tie them down and move at the same time. Her hair was unruly today, missing it's usual tie, and seemed intent on draping across her eyes as she went along. However, today her feet were much more steady and true for she didn't trip once as she rushed to join the girls.
Fears of tardiness were abated as she saw that she had not missed anything yet, aside from a cracked egg that was spilling forth a healthy bronze and she breathed a sigh of relief; this was really happening! Eyes wide, she watched and waited for the bronze to find His, forgetting her robes to watch.
As the next egg cracked and a green spilled forth, she held back a squeal of glee, but this emotion was quickly replaced by confusion, then an outward gasp of fright as the dragonet fell into the crowd and blood was shed.

The Sweetheart egg. Doremy remembered it, and recalled, well, liking the feel of it. And she seemed like a good-natured sort, although a bit silly for his taste. The first two both being relatively tame, that was good, right? The green headed straight for the boys... and that was when he started to get nervous again, because Faranth she was fast.
And of course, like the biggest deadglow in the world, when he saw the green coming straight for him, he paused for just a split second too long. For just a moment, something like hope came over him, an unspoken question of are you for me?
"Stupid," he mumbled to himself under his breath as he checked the scratch. It didn't seem deep, thank goodness, those claws could have done worse. He'd just have to suck it up and deal with the consequences of his inexperience. "Should've moved faster." Should've known this would happen. He would be more careful next time.
