Give 'it' a chance, huh? Uuni could have been very degrading and mean by asking what 'it' was, but she knew, and so refrained from such a low blow of a comment.
Avery might have asked the same thing, only she wouldn't have outright said it. Ugh. What was with these two girls?
Or girls in general.
"Yeah, okay," Uuni answered, thinking that there was more to this than she was actually understanding. "I kind of have, Kesslan. And I'd rather we just stayed friends."
Well, maybe she could throw a few low strikes.

The deep flush creeping up K'lan's neck and face, the way her eyes locked on the distant mountains instead of her companion, and her brief silence was enough to convey her hurt. It had been low, as there were many other ways to turn the blonde down, and one could only assume that Uuni had, instead, delibrately meant to hurt her.
... Mine? Mine, I am coming.
At this point, she could either let it slide, as she had always done in the past, simply going to be alone or with Condoroth and letting it out, or she could do something new and push for a response. One that showed Uuni saw K'lan, Kesslan, as a whole person, not just someone to go to when she felt sad or bored.
Wait, love. Give me a moment.
"What, exactly, is wrong with me?" The words were quiet, just short of bitter, as she reflected on the past two turns. K'lan had been patient, affectionate, the spark had been there even after her forced abstinence, and yet... Both of the women she'd had a serious interest in had spurned her romantically, had even found each other!
She was a good person, she was smart and good company, she was attractive. So what was it? Why had Uuni been so willing to share her body with anyone but K'lan?

Uuni swallowed as she figured something harsh was coming. She didn't know what, and she'd seen Kesslan angry before. She only hoped that her 'friend' in question didn't take the idea to a personal offense and from there to a physical one.
But she had to remember, as she often forgot, that Kesslan was more woman than man, and so it was not with fists that she'd deal her punishment.
"Nothing," Uuni answered almost too easily with a heavy sigh. She took a few steps away from the girl and refused to make eye contact at first. It was not until she had lowered herself onto a slightly elevated rock that she thought to look towards Kesslan again.
"Nothing Kess. That's the problem. I don't get many friends, Kesslan. I would rather not ******** it up by turning it sexual." She took in a deep breath and took her fingers to her temples to try and think more clearly. It almost made her thoughts more muddled, unfortunately. "I know it might be a little selfish from your point of view, but damnit, Kess, I liked what we had. Why do you have to go and ruin it by wanting me as a ********? And that is all it will be." Again, she turned her eyes elsewhere. This was the part where Kesslan got upset and left, and she was left, yet again, in a familiar pattern of repition.

K'lan was quiet, hearing Uuni out as she always tried to do, her gaze moving from the skyline to the brunette when she began to speak. For once, she didn't flinch at the Holder's harsh language and instead looped her thumbs into her belt, expression solemn.
Taking a moment to gather her thoughts, she exhaled audibly and shook her head, eyes meeting the other girl's. "That's not what I want you as." They both knew that, didn't they? It was Uuni that'd be limiting them to that, not K'lan. She wanted something better, stronger. Lasting.
"This is not a Hold, Uuni, where sex is separate from feelings." Frowning, the blonde dropped her hands before folding them across her chest. "I want you, not for your body, and I can wait for that, I could wait until you're..." Whole again? Was that the word? It was clear that Uuni needed to work through some things. Especially the ones that had made her so afraid of K'lan's genuine affection.
"I'm not going anywhere. If you're vulnerable, I won't hurt you and I don't scare easy. You're not going to shake me with," She waved a hand, representing the entirety of their past encounters, with Uuni using harsh words or cutting remarks to avoid emotional intimacy. "All of that."
K'lan wasn't much of a talker, with her feelings, and it was strange to give those words to Uuni, to try and trust her with them, rather than just long words and pregnant silences.

"A Hold isn't like you think it is," Uuni answered quietly. It wasn't the point she wanted to make. It was a statement that did nothing more than throw stones, but it kept her talking when she didn't know what else to say.
"I don't know how long it will take, Kesslan, and what, then you find somebody else and my heart breaks? No thank you. I'm not going through that again. No way. No how. Not in a thousand turns." Promising that she wouldn't hurt her? It was laughable. Like anyone could promise that.
It was like Roka saying that she had wanted Uuni to trust her after their first meeting. It did nothing but inspire distrust.
"Besides," she added, the idea finally coming that she needed. "It's not fair to Condoroth. What we have, right now. . . what in how you're describing that, whatever that is, is making things different? I can't be a good lover, Kess. I can't even be a good friend. Do yourself a favour, and wait until we can call each other true, close friends before you go asking me to do something more." And that was all Uuni would hear of it.
She stood back up, straightened out her skirt, and headed back in the direction of the Weyr.

"The difference is that we would stop not something isn't there when it is, Uuni!" K'lan called out to her friend's retreating back, but knew the girl wasn't the type to turn around.
Surprisingly enough, what the brunette had said encouraged K'lan instead of the opposite. Uuni had let the blonde know that she cared. Cared enough to not want to lose anything, and the fact that Uuni thought K'lan had the potential to break her heart... Well. That said something, didn't it?
Calling to Condoroth, K'lan closed her eyes until she heard the sound of wingbeats and the low, anxious croon that signaled her bond's arrival. It was time for her to see their weyr. Uuni, and the issues she presented, would have to be dealt with after the hatching.
