"Sure." It wasn't like he had anything better to do. It wasn't like he had to worry about Anise, who would be safely tucked into her bed and most likely reading girly magazines under the covers with a flashlight. It wasn't like the world was coming to an end. Right?
Although he could no longer clearly see the rift, he could still feel it. "This way." Touda began leading them down a street which seemed significantly darker than it had ten minutes ago. "So, you're Chris?" He asked, trying to make conversation. Given the starmaker's agitation, he wasn't sure it would work.

"Yeah," Chris said. "And you met my little sister, right?" Since it was only then that that information sunk in. "And Jordan, it sounds like, if they were fighting." He moved like a big cat, loping along behind the boy almost too fast.
"Chris has a slight sister complex," Antony explained, trying to cover up his worry. The funniest thing was, he didn't know if he was worried about the little girl, or about the ones that had been stupid enough to grab her. If she awoke to her powers this young--

"And you think your sister is some kind of slayer?" He didn't know why, but this information seemed important. He wasn't sure if it was good-important or bad-important, but it seemed like something he should pursue. The odd looks that some of Test's house guests had given him flashed through his mind, and he shook them away. "What kind of slayer?"

"I'm the one that thinks it," Antony said. "I'm only a reaper. I deal with ghosts. But I think it's possible that Carmel could be a demon ******** NOT," Chris said. "There's no way in hell I'm gonna let my little sister do something that dangerous! She's going to be a dancer, dammit, and a good one at that!"

"I think I'm supposed to remember a demon slayer." Touda mused quietly. "Except I've never actually met one that I know of. That I can remember." He shrugged, drifting off into a reverie. Something had to have come before the crate, he was almost certain of that.
"There, look." The increased sense of malevolent pressure had built up enough to snap him out of it, and he stopped. "It's over there. Just another block or two, past those buildings." The exact location was hidden behind two tall apartment buildings, but he could feel it. He glanced at the other two, wondering if they sensed anything.

Antony nodded and went on running, not saying a word. Chris didn't feel anything. He was about as spiritually tuned as a rock, but he believed the kid since Antony seemed to agree, and kicked up the speed, racing down the street.
They had to get there before something happened to his sister. They just had to!

Touda ran after both of them, shouting. "Hey! Stop! Hang on a second!" He put on speed until he'd caught up. "Don't just go barging over, moron. You don't know whats waiting. If you get trapped you can't help her."

Antony stopped, while it took Chris a few long strides to force himself to follow suit. "It won't affect Chris," Antony said. "He can't see, hear, smell, or recognize spirits, but at the same time he's a walking tank. They can't touch him. But me..."
"Antony's prone to being possessed," Chris said bluntly. "It's amusing, but it'd be a problem, huh?"

Resting his hands on his knees, Touda bent down a little to catch his breath. "You don't understand. Whatever it is, it's big. And bad. And getting bigger." He shook his head. "We need to know what we're going into at least... They might hurt her if they see us coming."

"Dammit," Chris cursed, looking around. "Then we go in from the shadows, or something right? I can draw their attention and you two sneak in behind them, or whatever it is when the damn thing's in the sky?"
Antony jerked as he felt a flash of power. It felt... sweet. "She's still alive," he said as the power came again. "And she's getting mad."

He knew they needed a plan. As far as coming up with it though, that was apparently not Touda's strongest point. He frowned and looked from Chris to Antony. "Distraction and extraction sounds good to me, I guess. If she's mad, thats good, right? It means she's not scared, right?"

"Exactly," Antony said.
"Then I'll be going ahead," Chris said before racing forward into the darkness. "Watch your backs," he added before he disappeared from their sights entirely.

Watching Chris' retreating form, Touda let out a sigh. "He's... rather big, isn't he?" It seemed kind of a lame thing to say, but he really couldn't think of anything else. He'd never seen somebody like Chris before.
"So, what do we do?" Orange eyes turned expectantly on Antony. He seemed smart. Touda figured he'd have a plan or something.

"Exactly what he said we'd do," Antony said. "We'll sneak up behind them." He opened his trench and pulled out his rapier, then leaned down and tugged a dagger out of his boot. "I don't know how well this will do against the non ghosts in the crowd, but it should cause a bit of havoc as well."
He looked at the boy. "While Chris is drawing their fire and I'm attacking the ones that notice me, you need to grab Carmel, understand?"

"Sure, grab Carmel. No problem." He cast a glance at Antony, wondering what sort of person carried a sword around these days. "Hey, in case everything goes to hell, it's been kind of fun." A faint grin crossed Touda's face. He wasn't sure this would work, necessarily. But a thrill of excitement in his gut told him it didn't really matter at this point. "Ready?"
