Simon ran his fingers through his messy hair, looking thoughtful. "Well... you don't know how good your teammates will end up being yet," he suggested, straightening his posture just a little bit, and even breaking into a small but genuine smile. "It sounds like they're counting on you to make them into good sparring partners, and... who knows, after a while they might start challenging you, instead of the other way around. You just need to be patient, and try to have a little fun being the teacher for a change."
He met Howl's glance, and tilted his head with a contemplative frown, fidgeting a bit with his wrists again. "Maybe... I think if you're talking about being frustrated with your teammates, though, you probably have more in common with Franz."

Being raised by parents with high expectations, Howl had learned to be polite even when he did not agree with the "facts" presented. He nodded his head slightly and made it sound like he was seriously contemplating the subject.
"I suppose you have a point about hidden potential of my teammates. I will try to keep that in mind".
And then Howl let out a small chuckle. "Oh no, my dear boy! I was not talking about the frustration! I was talking about the lowly self image we each seem to have for ourselves. And how we are suddenly being coveted as the best of our respective teams." Even after the explanation, the effeminate lad couldn't help but continue to chuckle.

"Oh!"
Simon shot up a bit, a bashful grin lighting his face (and a grin of any kind tended to be a rarity with him) when Howl explained his point, the realization hitting him a lot more easily thanks to it. "Yeah, that makes a lot more sense, huh?" he replied, then moved to stand up. His posture was a little more straight this time, probably boosted by the slight improvement in his mood. It was always good to know you weren't alone.
"Hopefully things will turn out alright for both of us. If not, well... it's not like we're going to be stuck in Hillworth forever, right?"

Howl remained sitting for a moment, noting the boy's posture again. He might have commented There! You look so much better that way! but he figured it was best to not point it out. Simon seemed to be the type where if you pointed out something of the sort, he'd get embarrassed and quickly retreat to older habits. Subconsciously, his hand went up to his mouth, pointer finger extended and touching upon his bottom lip.
"I suspect we will both be able to get out of Hillworth. I have no plans for an extended stay."
At this point, the long haired lad stood up. He couldn't help but make a casual observation "I suppose I should let you get to changing out of your practice clothes and into our uniform." He nodded as if he was agreeing with himself, then took the hand he had by his mouth and offered it for a handshake.
"Until our Physical Education class, Simon!"
