"I just arrived today. This is my first meal in weyr." Trista leaned forward to spear a bit of food on her utensil.
"It's a little daunting, I have to admit. So I'm glad I'm not the only new comer. It makes me feel a little less like a toddling babe. At least I am used to being on my feet so the chores really haven't been as bad as I thought they were going to be. It hasn't been any harder than shifting kegs and waiting tables all day so I can't really complain. But enough about me, you said you got here a few days ago. Have you had a chance to poke about yet? What's the weyr like? I haven't seen much of it so far."

D'astel watched the candidates and listened to their chatter. He was here to observe, not include himself, and so it didn't bother him any to be overlooked in favor of their interact. After a while he formed pretty solid opinions. Which would get run over (hopefully not die, but run over), which would Impress and which would cause trouble for his dear friend the Weyrlingmaster if they did.
There were more tables to be searched (no pun intended) and more people watching to do, so, feeling he had a sufficient amount of information, he rose and dismissed himself.
"I've work to do now, but good luck at the hatching. All of you."
A little voice in his head, one that most men had, didn't wish Uuni so well. If she didn't Impress--
Oh, shut up, the Weyrleader grumbled to himself.
This was going to be a long hatching.
