The werewolf closed his eyes, nodding sympathetically. "There, there now. Of course that's all you want." Within, however, Jaag still grinned that toothy grin. He moved closer to the grey Wish: closer by mere increments, since everything would be undone if Rayne took flight now. "Home is all anyone ever wants. But it's no good to be there if you starve, is it? Let us take that hunt. And then you can return to your home, warm and fed."

He looked up at him, eyes narrowed. "H-how do I know you won't just gobble me up when I turn my back?" He asked defiantly, but even as he asked, his voice shook. He wasn't sure if it was the fear or something else, and he refused to think about what the 'something else' could be defined as. This wasn't a Wish, this was a monster. He wouldn't be drawn in by him, damn it. Not after all the time he spent alone, proving that he could survive alone.
"I don't trust you." He added, watching him closely. "A-and I shouldn't. I-I'm not stupid, I-I know what your kind does to Wishes w-who're too stupid to stay safe at home." Which is what he should have done all along, but beating himself up over it wasn't going to get him out of this corner. He managed to back himself up right to the tree he'd bumped his head on before, and winced. He was caught between a rock and a hard place.

One enormous shoulder shrugged, its bearer staring across at the other Wish with an increasingly impassive expression. "You may believe what you want to, Rayne. But to blame on me the actions of my brothers? My arch-enemies?" His fangs curled at the thought of the leeches, those Wishes who bore fangs and the ironic arrogance he didn't feel they deserved. The ones that called themselves Vampires.
He meant that they, specifically, were his enemies - but if Rayne didn't know that, he didn't need to. "You do us both a disservice. But I can't hold it against you."
Jaag did indeed seem to be holding something against him, enjoying Rayne's current, trapped position. But he thought better of himself; he turned his shoulder to the grey Wish and moved past him, heading deeper into the forest of his own accord. "I am going to hunt. You may try to find your way back, or you may come be satisfied."

Rayne winced as Jaggor's fangs were bared, misinterpretting it as something directed to him. His ears flattened against his head, and he sunk down lower, watching him uneasily, frowning. What arch-enemies? He was one of them, those monsters. They were all together, weren't they? He'd claimed them as brothers one minute, and arch-enemies the next. Poor Rayne had no idea the complexity of the creatures haunting his wood, and his confusion was clear on his face, but he didn't ask. He was too afraid of what the answer might be. Instead, he cleared his throat and lowered his eyes.
"I-I-I..." He fumed a little at his stutter, closing his eyes, and peered up at him uneasily. He looked away, licking his maw, and looked at him again. This was playing with the Devil, that's what it was. No good could come from it. He knew that. But he also knew that if Jaggor was speaking truth, as unlikely as it was, at least he'd have someone to protect him if they ran into something less friendly. Weighing the pros and the cons, the choice should've been obvious. What was obvious, however, was not what Rayne wanted. He wanted food, and if this... If Jaggor was offering to help him hunt, he wouldn't-- couldn't turn it down. Who knew when the next meal would be?
"A-a-alright." He said weakly, rising off his belly uneasily. "B-b-but I'm tr-trusting you, here." He said quietly, watching him. "D-don't make me regret it." He had a feeling Jaggor didn't care if he regretted it or not, but his belly growled at the thought of more to eat.

Slyly, one of those bright eyes looked back, just seeing the grey Wish following behind him. Jaagor smiled and slowed, giving Rayne the room to catch up with him. In fact, he positively prompted it. The other Wish was near unto perfect right now: confused, low-to-the-ground and just tingling with fear. It was a mix he so adored!
"Don't worry, Rayne. Nothing bad will happen to you here." The tone the Werewolf took on was almost brotherly. Deal with the Devil, indeed. "Just step lively - don't lag so, come here, where I can keep an eye on you." An eye, that was it. Two eyes; with the hope that Rayne would forget himself, and expose himself to Jaag's more... charming tendencies. The effect of his eyes on the nervous Wish were altogether unexpected, but absolutely fascinating, and he planned to experiment with them to their fullest. And what better opportunity would he have than this?
"You look too nervous to hunt a thing. Do you know anything about the monsters you fear so much?"

Rayne caught up to Jaagor when he slowed, walking beside him uneasily and finding himself debating on keeping his distance or sticking closer. He decided to stick closer; if Jaagor tried anything, he'd have to be blind not to notice, but if something grabbed him from the shadows, he wouldn't be able to stop that if he wasn't close enough to the wolf. Logical, right? Not really, but Rayne was quite adept at finding logic in the illogical.
He glanced towards Jaagor, and tried to smile, but it just barely hit the 'smile', falling short at a smirk. "A-alright." He muttered, sticking a little closer. He kept his gaze lowered, not willing to look Jaagor in the face any more then he had to. He glanced towards him after a minute, shying away from his face but eying the pelt he wore. He wondered if it was from another kill or a part of him, but lowered his eyes instead of asking. It was probably a dumb question to ask anyway, and who said they had to talk the whole hunt?
"N-not much." He admitted, lifting his head and perking his ears a little. "I-I've heard rumors, b-but I've never, well, met one." He glanced over. "I-I usually don't hunt." He added after a minute, shoulders falling a little. "Mostly I just get lucky, a-and find something already dead." That wasn't so much the case nowadays. Most dead things were either not really dead, or were already claimed and gone too quick for Rayne to try and snatch. Berries would only get him so far, too.

Finding with some irritation that Rayne was unwilling to look him in the eyes, Jaagor turned those vibrant orbs to the woods around them. What was grey and dismal to Rayne was a thriving mecca to the werewolf; he could see and hear Prunny scuttling beneath the fog and rotting leaves, and catch glimpses of the soft brushes of tree-squirrels that dared to move about above them. Behind the bleakness and shade, this forest was a trove of warm and delectable little snacks who hadn't yet learned that there were monsters in town.
He tore his eyes away from the surroundings, smiling down at Rayne in return. Smirking? Surely not; this Wish didn't seem that confident. "You should ask more questions. Things might not get you so riled up, if you knew a little more about them."

Rayne glanced around as they walked, ears flat against his head and crouching a little, as if he were trying to become one with the ground. Everything was frightening here; things were too dark, everything seemed to be moving around them. It was a strange sense of terrifying vertigo. Even the ground under him felt like it was quaking. He glanced towards Jaagor, and blinked at the smile, frowning. The werewolf may have very well smiled at him before, but Rayne hadn't noticed until this particular smile. He tried returning it sheepishly, but shook his head.
"T-that's not something you want to unleash." He said, looking ahead of them. "I-I-I've b-been told I ask t-too many questions." He admitted, ears perking a little. He was torn between curiousity and fear, now. It was easy to be distracted when there were questions to ask, but Rayne really didn't want to get onto Jaagor's bad side for being annoying. He had a logical explanation for that: A werewolf's bad side could very well end up with Rayne being digested. He shuddered a little at the thought, cringing. How pathetic was that? Scaring himself with his own thoughts, for the love of Gods.

Jaagor whuffed, a low, doglike sound that expressed how utterly ludicrous he thought the words Rayne had just spoken were. At the same time, the sight of the werewolf, head down, cheeks briefly puffed out with the action as he walked was almost... comical. "Tchah! Never a such thing as too many questions. What fool told you that?" And maybe it was like this because for this single moment, Jaag was being genuine. He wasn't conniving or twisting emotions - he really was annoyed that anyone would say such a thing.
"A Wish's got to ask questions. How else are they supposed to know anything?" He noticed Rayne's shuddering, and cast his eyes over him skeptically. Scaring someone for fear's sake was fun. But scaring someone for ignorance? He wasn't sure if he found that as pleasurable. "Ask me your questions. Any you can think of. Then, at least, you'll know what it is you're cringing at."
Then, Jaagor reasoned, he could get back to terrifying his possible lunch in peace.

((I fail at remembering to tag. ._. Sorryyyy.))
Rayne jerked a little when he heard the whuff, glancing over anxiously. Had he said something wrong? Was he going to attack him now?! "A-a-a..." He cleared his throat. "Friend. Er, h-h-he was..." His ears flattened against his head. "W-w-we don't talk anymore." He said, glancing over at him. "I-I-I guess I always bugged him with my q-questions." He muttered quietly, looking down at the ground.
"O-observation? Th-that's how I usually learn things." He glanced over at him, swallowing. He arched an eyebrow a little at the permission given, and licked his maw, looking down. "W-were you always like this?" He asked after a minute, looking over at him. "A-and is that pelt attached? Do you remember what it was like, before the Darkness came?" The questions blurted out one after the other until he hadn't the breath to ask more, and he looked over sheepishly, then looked down.
