Hmm.......well I think there are way too many places to keep track of. I also think maybe there should be a battle of some sort between everyone. There was once a spartan/trojan rp I was in that was always a lot of fun and it lasted VERY long. One of the reasons that I think it lasted so long is because everyone was always on the battlefield fighting side by side instead of everyone running around doing their own thing. Roleplaying is always funner when done with others. Sorry if anyone disagrees.....just adding my opinion......

What if oyu have a combinatio of the loose and structered plot. WHat i mean by this is you have for example the two factons rebels and the empire. Of course they are going to fight one another and that can be loose on how the battles take place and the choas involed. However you can also have some structure to the plot as in who is currently in power or a twist such as the Ssi-ruuk attack at bakura. Just some of my suggestions.

How about a complete purge of the old role play? Reintroduce characters or create new ones but pick a timeframe and stick to it.

I do think a New Role Play would be better. Maybe do battle RP where people have to actually engage, say spaceship invasions and/or alien invasions.

Mandalorians would be pretty tight too. biggrin

I sense (figuratively) the Yuzon Vong invasion... That, or we could take inspiration from the Empire At War RTS and introduce the Zann Consortium or even the Black Sun organization. Or some sort of new and unique problematic event, like the blackhole at the Deep Core creating something.. *shrugs* I'm sick and insomnic.

  • No idea on cause of death. I'm a new member D:

  • Personally, I like the entire planet system in the Main RP forum. It keeps things tidy unless you'd work with [insert current place here] in your posts.

  • Also, as mentioned by someone else, more Jedi and Sith stuff may do the trick (my char needs a teacher? =P ). I think it's a very original idea that a no-Jedi/no-Sith policy was added to prevent people from playing just that, but I also think most people join/will join to actually be a Jedi/Sith. Being 'special' is everyone's dream somewhere. So, I'd say, add more Jedi/Sith stuff, but still keep the amount of Jedi/Sith compared to the non-force people a bit in check. It wouldn't be fun to see a single bountyhunter doing his job while 3 Sith Lords and 4 Jedi Masters are having a fight about the bountyhunter's target.

  • On the other side, on matters of races, it would be wise to refuse the 'better races' unless exceptionally allowed or 'more flaws than usual' must be added. That to prevent everyone to be the better race as well. With this, I think Mandalorian is the first one in mind since they have always been shown as a 'stronger race' compared to Humans or Twilek.

  • Since I haven't roleplayed yet, I can't say much about adventuring/combat ratio, but to have both in the RP would be good. Matter of diversity, creativity and for some players the ability to flaw out/work out their character's growth.

  • Having something to do/having a main plot line that gradually moves up depending certain actions is a good thing. There are several sub-stories that alltogether could make one part of the main storyline... (Storyline progress of MMOs)

  • Missions are a good thing as well, if there is interest. Maybe you could add an in-game moneylog to make missions attractive and buy/sell equipment or training?

  • A rarely used system... but you could put in minor influence of the roll dice/random number actions.

Ersatz Rose
On reasons for the death of the rp, my opinion is:

  • Too many threads for locations to keep track of
  • Lack of an actual plot
  • Lack of anything really engaging to do

I think we need to have some sort of plot and consolidate most of the location threads so people can find each other easily. We should also limit space travel.

Ersatz got the point very clearly. I thought seriously joining to the RP too, but I noticed that I'd need lots of time just to figure out what's already going on and just go through all the existing material to see what's important and what's not so relative for me when making a new character.

One thing is sure. RP forum needs to be cleared up. I like the fact that there is lots of information, but there is just too much of it. Hence, too much options and possibilities. When you can be almost anywhere in the galaxy far away, it's very hard to notice where the rest of people are.

Raven mentioned missions. I in a way agree and suggest a log "What's going on in the galaxy?" or just Hotspots thread to let people know where potential storylines are hiding. Problem here is everyone rushing to one place, but it's up to each player to know and see when there's enough player characters involved.

I also liked the thought of using dice and a little bit of statistics. Very stripped version of Trinity roleplaying system might be worth of consideration. (We use modified version of it at our tabletop Star Wars game) Little use of dice would bring more interesting outcomes. Heroes not always being successful, for example fights really exiting. Just two or three roll of dice can make you really care about hows the fight going to end. And then its more than just writing tactical movements, when you DO have chance to fail.

If and when I get a character done, it will definitely be a non-jedi. Just to balance things. And it's helluva fun to play in this kind of surrounding.

Just from prodding around the Main RP forum, I found a number of little problems. If ya'll want to counter act my arguments, feel free to. Heck, IM me via MSN at Nightblade7@msn.com and we can go 1-on-1. lol I'm in bed with the flu, so I apologize if they're not coherent.

- Why is there a brief/debrief section when all it contains are basic objectives?
I bring this up because from reading it, it sounds like they writer just played a little Battlefront and wrote them. Not to criticize, but the contents are very basic, such as invade and hold. One of the few "unique" objectives was on Kashyykk to "Rebuild the Skyhook." Sounds like the Imperials could play a little game of Firefight with the Rebels acting as the oppressing force. Just a suggestion, but go into a bit of detail; give us something more to read. Battle plans, commanding officers, fall-back plans, combat zone descriptions, something. It kinda dis-engages me to see a plain list of objectives. "Anyone can invade anywhere, but what makes here so special?"

- The Obra-Skai Archives: Great Idea, unusual execution.
This was a new one, even in my days of RPing. My big problem with it were the photo size to text size ratio, along side the poorly built "Table of Contents" post. Some of the pictures were so friggin' big, I had to set my laptops view to 30% to see all of it. And with photos that big, the text amount, in my opinion, should match. Why? A pretty picture only tells a set amount. What makes the technology/species/weapon/whatever special, other it being a fandom or a small blurb? Was it home built? Raised by rancor? *shrugs*

- The Force: an option, not a limit.
I'll be short on this: give us an option to be Jedi/Sith/Gray/Sensitive. But don't just make it a lightswitch on/off option. We should prove via RPing skill or bribery or something we'll play the character well. We can filter out the "I cutz u dwn w/ 1337 h@xz0r l!gh75@83r @ct!0nz lolz" with this, because an idiot won't pass our test. Maybe have us write something like a "background test" for those not coming from the Jedi/Sith sides to prove why we should be allowed Force Sensitivity. Maybe they're a follower of the Potentium? Maybe they are a Sith who escaped execution after showing mercy (a weakness, according to their teachings)? Hell, maybe they are a failed Padawan and only have rudimentary control over the Force.

What if we ran an RP like an RPG?
Making worthwhile character posting with participating in the RP story line would be like a form of experience?
I would suggest making a place for Force powers known on the character sheet/bios and restrict force powers and size of ships for beginning characters.
The higher level your character attains, the more force powers your character learns, or bigger ship if not force sensitive.
Something to show character development and progression.
Mods will have to take on more of a GM roll and be the leaders of the different factions, assigning missions to the players, promoting the players as they meet the criteria.

To have only one RP thread?
No, the possibility of coming back after being gone for two days and have a gazillion pages to go through to find a response is not appealing.
Break it down to “Deep Core,” “Core Worlds” “Colonies” excreta, excreta.
Maybe just a thread for more like an “Our Side” “Their Side” “Contested Side” type of thing with a list of planets controlled by what faction in each thread.

The only problem I'd see with the RPG idea is determining starting levels for everyone. Would be kinda unfair if, say, some of the oldbies for the Guild started higher level than everyone else and were the only ones allowed to start that way. You also got the problem of ships; if only the higher ups were allowed to have them, we'd basically have to ride their coat-tails just to get around. And if one, say, gets sick or goes on vacation, what then?

I think we should use some form of the imperial era as our time frame if its not too brash to say so.

Everyone, except the Mods who are running the RP, (much like a GM,) starts off at first level.
Same with ships. Everyone stats off with the same class of ship. (From whatever Era the RP is set in) you get one.
Work hard and show us you leadership abilities (A.K.A. participation) and you’ll get a bigger/better/more of ship. (Don’t forget that you’ll have all the crew for and troops for your ship under your command.)
And if you go on vacation, well, then it’s on you to make sure that your character is in a place that will not slow down the RP or the other players and notify the GMs.
When you come back, you can start right back up where you left off.

Don't really dig the RPG-level system. I dunno... Just seems like a hassle. As for the Time Period Vote, New Republic era (>5ABY) and before the Yuzhon Vong Wars. Some time during when the Black Sun was in power and the same time period as the Shadows Of The Empire book series.
