Tamlin was completely charmed by this flighty old lady; no nonsense and too the point. Traits that often come with being to old to dance around formality anymore. She smiled warmly and responded with a laugh. "Well Alais certainly isn't my pet, I think she believes it to be the opposite. Awhile back she just appeared and smuggled away some of my beading. Not quite sure where she came from but she hasn't left me alone since." Tamlin ruffled up the fur between Alais' ears "In fact, it would be quite lonely and a right bit colder coming into winter now without her."

Mama Paretta smiles. "I see...I see. Well then." Her eyes twinkle knowingly. "Yes, yes, I think I understand. Come over to my table, chickie, and let me read your cards." She takes Tamlin by the hand and almost drags her to the cloth-covered table.

"Alrighty then mama, lets see what your cards say" Said Tamlin, strangely energized by this woman.

Tamlin grabbed her chair just before she was dragged out of reach by Mama and pulled it along with her to the table. Setting the chair down Tamlin sat down and waited for the reading to begin.

Alais also decided this woman was of the good sort. Meaning, one who paid the proper attention to her. She also had quite a bit of interesting trinkets, bits and bobs, and bunches of miscellany scattered about, some of which was the shiny sort. Climbing on top of Tamlin's shoulders she perched, surveying the room

She also had quite a bit of interesting trinkets, bits and bobs, and bunches of miscellany scattered about, some of which was the shiny sort. Climbing on top of Tamlin's shoulders she perched, surveying the room

Mama Peretta eases herself down into the other chair she'd placed at the table, and picks up the cards. She looks at them and frowns. "Hm. It seems the cards don't inspire me tonight. Seems the ball is what's calling me." She leans over her chair and picks up a fur-lined box. She picks up her glass ball out of it and puts it on the table. "Si, si, there it is..."

She begins to hum to herself, soft and low, and the ball almost seems to glow. "Ooh...yes...as I thought...." She looks up at Tamlin. "Oh, lovey, you're in for a ride."

Staring intently into the ball Tamlin could see none of what Mama was exclaiming about. "What? What do you see? Where is this ride going?"

"Yes, yes," answers Mama Peretta. "The Meij tells me that the creature perching on your shoulders is a Fortunette." She pauses to beam at Alais. "A little bit of the very Meij itself that's decided to experience life in all forms. Inanimate, animal, and finally as a growing humanoid. I suspect the beadwork that disappeared when she came about was what your little trickster chose as her object form." She pauses for effect, nodding and giggling almost conspiratorially.

"And, the Meij tells me, she's a little unsure of her surroundings. I see...jealousy..."

"Tell me, lovey, is there another in your life with whom she must compete for attention?"

"A fortunette! Really! I had no idea. I mean, she was a strange little raccoon, they usually are nocturnal and avoid people. But I just took that as her being especially curious." Tamlin shot an amazed glance at Alais who completely ignored her. She was far more interested in the large shiny ball.

"Jealous..." Tamlin pondered a bit. She hadn't paid much attention to how Alais reacted to others. "I share a wagon with Baptiste, but there is nothing odd in that. The caravan is small, everyone shares wagons with friends and family, everyone is very close"

"Ah, then she has a fickle heart, your little one. She is jealous of this Baptiste, with whom you share your space." She nods and gazes into the glass ball again. "Hm....hmm....ah, yes..." Mama Paretta looks up again and nods. "You must prove to her that you love her best. Do some injury to this Baptiste, and make sure she sees it. Only then will she trust you enough."

Tamlin was shocked, "you mean hurt him! But he is a friend, he is even letting me stay in his wagon. I don't know about that. Perhaps another way..?" She trailed off hoping some other inspiration would come from the crystal ball. Instead there was a crashing sound as Alais reached out for the ball, lost her balance, and sent the ball falling to the floor as she knocked into it. The ball fell with a thud and rolled to the edge of the room.

Mama Peretta makes a clucking noise at Alais as she stands to retrieve her crystal ball. "Calm yourself, child. I said nothing about hurting him, just insult him or otherwise damage his pride."
PostPosted: Thu Oct 08, 2009 10:23 pm

"OH... oh.." Tamlin blushed rosy all the way to her ears. "Well, if that's all, I suppose that's okay. He is generally a good guy, but his pride is tall. If need be I could trip him up a little. It still seems wrong though" She bit at her lower lip worried. Baptiste was a close friend, and he was letting her live with him. She certainly didn't want to damage their relationship on purpose.

"I don't suppose, well, perhaps you could give a suggestion to help Alais understand I don't put him before her. Maybe that would help and nothing drastic would have to be done."

"Oh, I wish I could, dearie, but I only interpret the Meij, yes. What it wants is its own decision. I'm afraid this is between you and Alais." Mama Peretta leans back and clasps her hands on her belly. "Tea?"
PostPosted: Tue Oct 13, 2009 11:31 am

"Tea, would be great." Tamlin said emphatically, she had been hoping to go to the tavern for some of that cider and maybe something a bit stronger later. But, tea was free, and she really did like this old woman. "But then I must be off. I was hoping to check out those games in the square. Then I suppose I should find that Baptiste." Tamlin threw a quick glance at Alais. She was preoccupied nosing her way through a bundle of lustrously colored yarn. She turned back to Mama with a slightly conspiratorial grin. "Maybe if I can get him alone first I can tell him what happened and we can agree on a plan. If not I guess I'll just wing it."

Mama gets up and starts busying herself with tea. "Yes, yes, that might work. I wish you all the luck finding a way to get alone with your sleep-mate without the little busybody over there also being present." Mama grins at her and pours a cup of dark, rich-smelling tea for both of them. She sets the two mugs on the table. "A bold brew to embolden your heart then, yes, yes."

Coughing, slightly embarrassed by her interpretation of Baptiste's relationship Tamlin accepted the steaming tea cup from Mama. Sniffing at the heady tea, it smelled wonderful. Taking a sip "mmm! this is wonderful! it tastes better then it smells."

Drinking deep she finished the last of the tea. "Thank you for your hospitality and the information. I think I should be off to find Baptiste. I should put Alais at ease as soon as possible. She can make quite the ruckus if she wants"

It had taken Tsura quite some time but she'd eventually been able to find a rotten apple that wasn't wormy deformed or bird pecked in Kellen's orchard. Now the gypsy woman brought it along with a couple healthy apples back to Mama's to fulfill her quest. It had been easier than she;d expected overall but there'd certainly been a lot of walking involved, although it had let her get a feel for the layout of the town.

With Berit at her heels, having decided not to drop the little one off at the wagon, Tsura climbed the steps to knock on Mama;s door, hoping she wasn't interrupting anything
