She opened her mouth to form the reply, and realized that she had no plans. It rankled against the grain of her, she always planned, -always-... and had recently been helping others plan -their- futures. But, she'd somehow let her own slip away.

Once upon a time she'd wanted to be a Cowboy-olympian-pilot. But, now what?

"I guess I've been too busy with school, and... stuff" She trailed off. "I'm really not sure. I guess, I'd like to become fluent in Haida so that the language won't die." She said without the normal pause to wonder if Louisa would have an inkling what she was talking about.

"I like to run, I think I still want to -be- something with that, but I can't make a life of it." She said almost rueful.

Louisa listened and nodded.

"Well we are still young, I guess it doesn't matter too much if you don't have any plans." She tried to make it sound good and be reassuring but wasn't overly sure if it came across that way.

"Maybe you could teach Haida one day? If you want to become fluent in it, not that I have ever heard of it but maybe that's why you could teach it!" Louisa hadn't a clue whether she would be any good at learning a language but it didn't mean she wouldn't attempt it if Pandora wanted to test it on anyone. "You could always try to teach me one day?" There she offered it if Pandora wanted to.

She glanced with a small smile... she -really- should plan better, it was so important. It wasn't a -bad- idea though. She rather liked the idea of moving to the Island, teaching other people her age, not to let the old ways be lost.
It was a bitter thought, like ashes in her mouth to think that there -was- so much being lost... tradition, they needed that.

"I could try..." She conceded at last. "Theirs... only" She paused to remember "3, or...4 dozen people who still speak it, but more people my age are learning, we're trying not to let it be lost."

She tilted her head with an inviting smile. She liked the girl...
"It's got sounds though, that you don't find in english, did you want to learn a word today... now?"

Louisa smiled softly as she listened,

"It is sad when things get forgotten, maybe you could tell me about the people who the language belongs to? Then I could write something up about them if you wanted? I'm not great at writing but could be something." She was just throwing ideas out there again. Books - a way to keep things alive for years and years.

"Erm, sure just don't laugh if I mess them up too badly!" She laughed a little nervously, at least it was just them and the horse around so it wouldn't matter too much if she messed the words up really badly.

"Háw'aa" She said slowly and carefully to enunciate the syllables -"It... pretty much means thank you.." She said with a small smile.
"Really pretty useful for a first word, since I can't remember how to say "Where's the bathroom" off the top of my head." She grinned teasing, acknowledging the familiar phrase pounded into the heads of everyone in beginning spanish, and one often remembered by even the most disinterested students in its repetition.

"And the Haida...the people, a tribe of 'native americans' I'm related to... not 'pure' mind you, My Mom's blond though none of that passed on." She shrugged with a good natured expression.

Louisa listened and attempted to say the word she just heard though mucked it up a couple of times. She eventually got it though even if it didn't sound quite right, then again Louisa wasn't too good at languages so she was proud she managed to say the one word eventually!

"Háw'aa! Got it!" She said happily to herself!

"You are going to have to find out the one for 'wheres the bathroom' in case I ever come across the Haida!" She laughed a little knowing that the chances of that were slim, really slim, in fact apart from Pan and maybe Pan's parents if she met them, she wouldn't ever probably come across anyone from the Haida.

"You have such an interesting heritage!"

Pan laughed and pointed towards the woods in a tease regarding the bathroom, but didn't add words to it, just let her smile widen into a grin.

She pondered for a moment. "Everyone I does I think... but, normally its more interesting when it's someone else's, you know? I think that's why my people almost forgot. Theirs a romance to history that's not your own."

Louisa couldn't help but laugh as Pan pointed to the woods. Ah the joys of nature for a toilet!

"I am sure you are right, but all the same you do come from an interesting place by the sounds of it." She smiled rather liking the way that Pan had phrased what she had said. A romance to history, yes that sounded nice.

"So how long have you been around here for?" Louisa was curious and she liked Pan, she gave off good vibes so Louisa was comfortable around her, a rare thing indeed.

Pan shrugged thoughtfully and glanced up through the maze of tree branches enjoying the soft hiss of leaves and branches moving in the wind for a moment before answering.

"Mom and dad Moved out here not long after I was born..." She said thoughtful.
"Mom was more comfortable here... Dad didn't mind cause we still go back and visit his folks and Great Grandma sometimes, I think mom doesn't like being blond in the middle of all that black hair though" She laughed and shrugged.

"But most of my after school time is homework or sports..." She grinned... "So I didn't get out much.

Louisa listened and nodded.

"Fair enough, I suppose it would be kinda hard to be the odd one." She smiled though, Pan's heritage was interesting and the image of lots of people with black hair speaking a different language was dancing around her head.

"Oh what sports do you do? I am really rubbish at them." She was being honest, she sucked at sports. She really couldn't do them, unless of course it was riding but she hadn't done that in so long and she was sure the horses took over so she didn't do anything.

"Maybe we could meet up and do homework together sometime then if you don't have time for much else?" Oh it sounded interesting, a homework date! Louisa liked Pan though, she seemed easy to talk to and down to earth and well, Louisa liked her. Homework could be done quicker with two people anyway,

"I love running..." She said as her most immediate answer, "Riding... I just... I love competing, I even do the pow-wows sometimes... its not the same as running but, your still, your still trying to be the -best-, and its... exhilarating, I always feel so... ALIVE." She said her eyes focused on some unseen thing, some memory of an event, a challenge, a day.. a victory.

"oh! Yeah I'dlove to study some time... I mean, you seem pretty down to earth... god I...there are some other girls on track I talk to and we tried to study once but AUUUGH" She tilted her head back in recalled exasperation.

"Fashion, Boys, anything BUT homework... even -makeup-" She spat the last word like it was a sin to even -speak- the word.

Listening to Pan talk about running made Louisa smile. She seemed to really enjoy it, in fact it seemed there was a passion for it. "I could always race you sometimes... maybe I can be on the horse and you on foot so I get a decent chance!" she joked and couldn't help but chuckle as she spoke. There was no denying that Louisa wasn't the sporty type but she could cycle and things, if Pan ever went out. In fact Louisa was starting to think the two of them could become good friends!

"OH! I know what you mean... its the same at school!" Of course Louisa joined in these conversations though she wasn't one to have boyfriends or know what having one was like, in fact she had no experience in anything the girls at school spoke about but Louisa tried ever so hard to fit in.

"Well don't worry, I can talk about homework along with... make-up!" She laughed again. Louisa didn't like make up much either, it was a pain in the back side to put on every day. Maybe she could have a good friend in Pan? They seemed to be getting on well. She daren't hope though, she had never really had a close friend before.

Pan made a face and laughed about the make up shaking her head softly.
"How about hiking over make up." She grinned...

Her pocket beeped suddenly and she let out a small groan.. "Aww... god realllly?" SHe fished in her pocket and pulled out a watch and groaned again.

"I gotta get him back to the stables..." She said apologetic.

Louisa chuckled and looked over at where the horse stood.

"Shame, I think he likes it out here." She smiled back at Pan and then looked out at the trees, listening to the birds. Louisa was glad she was staying for the weekend.

"Maybe I will try and find you at school on Monday or something." Okay so Louisa probably wouldn't actively look for her but she would keep an eye out. She was use to being on her own at school and she didn't know if Pan had lots of friends or not. Going up to someone in a crowd of people was something Louisa was not about to do.

"It was nice to meet you anyway."

Pan nodded "He does... he hates the ring and even the jumps unless its a fallen tree... the brat." She said grinning as she said it though.
"But.. yeah! I'll see you around, um... enjoy that stew!" She grinned and swung back into the saddle with practiced ease.

"Háw'aa" she said and grinned before turning the horse and heading back whence she'd come like the lone ranger.
