"Towels, my friend. Cover them with small towels and you won't get the fountain effect." Shiro led the way into the kitchen, which was off the genkan and to the right, and caught Etain studiously trying to half-fly, half-climb the cupboard shelves to get to the formula. "Etain! What did I tell you about flying without supervision?"
Etain squeaked and looked up, then bowed her head. "Sorry, Papa..."

"I'll remember that," Efios murmured, and followed Shiro into the kitchen. He covered a smile at Etain's minor naughtiness. "Da doesn't want you to get hurt by accident, I think," he said to her, and grinned. "My da spanked me for climbing shelves when I was small, myself."

With Shiro there, however, Etain was free to climb the rest of the way up in the shelves and found the formula, which she offered to Efios proudly, flying awkwardly through the air to him. "Papa's never spank-ded me before," she added quietly in her slow and serious way. "What's spank-ded?"
"It's where I slap you on your bottom," Shiromaru explained, reaching up to pluck his daughter from the air. "It's not a good thing."

"Not a good thing to have happen," Efi agreed, and took the formula carefully. "Thank you, Etain, that was very helpful."

Brightening, Etain cuddled against Shiro's side, and jingled her bracelet happily. The coins made a merry chiming sound, like the windchimes in her room. "Papa," she announced, smiling up at Shiromaru. "I'm a helpful girl."
"That you are," Shiro confirmed, grinning down at her. "Now, do you want to help me gather up your old onesies so that Efios can take them home?" Etain nodded, wide-eyed, and Shiro winked over her head at Efios and nodded towards the hallway. "It's this way. Her room's only a bit down the hall."

Efi grinned back and nodded to Etain. "Will you show me your room?" he asked. "I bet you have neat stuff." He tucked the formula under his arm neatly.

Etain wriggled out of Shiromaru's arms and flew down the hall, holding onto the wall much as a child learning to swim might keep hold of the edge of the pool. "It's right here, Mister Efios," she called as she ever-so-carefully got the doorknob turned and the door pushed open. Inside, the window was huge and wide open, and the constant breeze set the many windchimes sounding merrily throughout the room.

Efi followed sedately, observing quietly that apparently flight wasn't something one just instinctively knew, but rather a learned skill. He glanced back at Shiro, recalling that the blue-haired man had wings when he so chose. ... Must be a useful thing to have, he mused.
"How pretty," he told Etain, looking around the room.

Excitedly, Etain took Efios' hand and tugged on him, trying to lead him over to the winged wooden rocking-unicorn over in one part of her room. "Lookit! It has a horn too!"

"So it does," Efi said, crouching down to better see the toy. He bent his neck and tapped his horn lightly against the rocking-horse's, and said very seriously, "Good sir, I challenge you for the privilege of giving the lady a piggyback ride."

The wooden toy very eloquently said nothing and simply rocked back and forth a little. "I think this might be an easy duel," Shiro drawled from where he lounged against the side of the door, arms crossed, his expression one of deep amusement.
Etain giggled and hugged Efi's hand, beaming up at him with bright eyes. "I don't think he's gonna say much," she whispered, and pointed to the rocking horse to explain just who she was talking about -- in case there was any doubt.

"Do you yield?" Efi asked the rocking-horse, eyes glinting with merriment. He rested one hand on the rocker so that the toy appeared to bow its head, lowering its horn. "The day is won, the honor is mine," he said cheerfully.

"Does that mean you're gonna give me a biggy-pack ride?" Etain asked, hugging Efios' arm this time.

"Absolutely, if you so wish," Efi nodded. "But I think we should do that when we go back outside, so I can gallop properly. I think there is probably a no galloping indoors rule," he said, and smiled.

Shiro smirked and headed over to the closet, picking out one of his spare diaper bags and starting to fill it with some onesies of various sizes. They were all white, green, blue or purple. "There's definitely a 'no galloping indoors' rule. It marks up the tatami."
Etain spotted Shiromaru picking out the onesies and flew over to him, studiously trying to help. "Then we can gallop outdoors!"
