I bought it today~! Plus the strategy guide! heart And the sales guy was uber nice and gave me the poster and postcards you get when you preorder and pick it up on the first day. (Shhh, don't tell my boyfriend but I think he was flirting with me. sweatdrop ) Oh well, gonna go start playing it now, so don't be surprised if I'm not on often. You'll know what happened. The game stole my soul. LOL.

Ok so I'm about 4 hours in so I can tell you a little bit about it. I'll try not to spoil things - well frankly I'm still in the dark any way.
Story:
~The entire game seems to be a long flashback since Roxas joined Org. XIII. He recalls every single day since he first starts doing missions for the Org.
~Each day there is a new mission to do, and I think the whole training/intro. part lasts for the first like 4-5 missions? I forgot already LOL, but it's basic stuff.
~During this time Roxas questions everything trying to learn more about himself and the Org. He gets a few answers, but mostly the other members keep their distance, unless they have to work with him during a mission.
~There are cute moments with him and Axel, but it starts getting repetitive fast.
~Xion shows up but you don't really get to talk to her until after you start working on real missions (not the training stuff).
Game Play:
~The camera drove me crazy for the first few missions because I couldn't manually rotate it. For example, I like using the L & R trigger buttons to see, and I couldn't for the first half, until I changed view modes. In view Mode A you can use the right trigger button to set the camera to what Roxas is facing. The Left trigger is your shortcut menu. You can use your stylus to look around but that is more troublesome than what it's worth. Mode B is what I like, where you can scan with the L & R triggers and your short cut menu pops up by pressing both simultaneously.
~Doing missions everyday is all right, but I feel like I don't want to be doing it the entire game, you know? I mean like go kill a heartless over there. Come back, go back out to kill a heartless in the other direction. Meh.
~The panel system sucks in my opinion because I don't have enough open! Ok so you know how in the PS games you have a section to equip abilities, then a section to equip items in your inventory? Well in this game, you have to equip abilities, items, and magic in one tiny section! You're only allotted a certain amount of space, and each item takes up a spot.
So for example, I get the ability double cast. I have to attach 4 pieces of magic to it, so that's 4 spaces taken up. But I want the ability to dodgeroll, so there's another space. And block. Another space. But I need a few potions and ethers, so I put those in, but I have 3 extra level ups I need to raise Roxas' level, but uh oh! I've only got 1 space left open. So you carry some essential stuff, but now Roxas is under leveled. See? Not enough space.
~BLOCK/DODGEROLL ARE YOUR FRIENDS. USE THEM ALL THE TIME. Because you have limited storage, sometimes you can't equip many potions, so block/dodgeroll whenever possible, it'll save your life.
~The first boss kicked my a** a few times. I'm guessing the creators wanted to test your endurance, but the first "boss" called the "Zip Slasher" had like 7 Health Bars. It took me so frickin' long to kill it. I don't think the other bosses have that many health bars, but yeah just a warning.
Yeah, so that's what the game is like so far. I'm starting to get to know Xion, so I'll add more when I play more.

Yes, actually we were pretty hyped. And, I'm not putting this in writing or anything but at my place of work I get a 10% discount and we sell both the game and the DS. Guess what Yama got for her birthday?
Earlier we had gone to Hot Topic and I got a Kingdom Hearts shirt. I like it because it has a rainbow on it. otherwise I have semi-mixed feelings about it. I really need another one. I love the sora scroll that she got me for my birthday. -Indicates in apartment- Haaauu... -drool-

It's true! I got the game! BWHAHAHAHA! heart So, I was right about the graphics being less than desired, but the game play and the story is pretty good! Definitely worth the $35 I paid for it.
And I love how they take advantage of the screens. So awesome! xD

So I've been considering getting this Kingdom Hearts. But...I've never played the other ones! One of the things I saw was about how this game finishes up the story or what not. So will I be completely lost if I pick up this game? Or can I easily pick it up and enjoy it?
I wanted to get it because my best friend likes the Kingdom Hearts series and this would give us a game to play together.
What are your thoughts?

My thoughts are that you should play the other ones too--they might even be better than this one. I'm not sure. You won't understand the relationships too well I would think. Like, some parts in it will leave you clueless because there are allusions to the "truth." But, I don't think that would get in the way of your ability to play the game. Probably you'd just enjoy it more if you know the storyline. Sort of like playing FFX-2 before playing FFX.
But that's an oppinion I've gotten just by watching Yama play now and then. I don't actually know what the game is like. It's just an assumption. 3nodding
