I'm not sure how they would react since I haven't told them yet. Judging from some of their reactions to discussing atheism in the past, I suspect it won't go over very well though. I heard my mother ask the bullshit rhetorical question once, "How can an atheist be moral?" And that pretty much sums up to me that they're not ready to know about it yet.

My dad's agnostic and my mom's a former Catholic who's "Spiritual, not religious". They don't care too much; they figure that they've raised me well enough, so they know I've thought it through.

My family...well the ones I live with...don't seem to care. Actually, My sister even is an atheist, too. My mom doesn't seem to care about my views or about religion. Sometimes my friends get comfortable about my views but tough luck.

My mom is an atheist, too. My dad is very religious (Baha'i) but lives in another state, meaning I don't have to deal with it much.

American Infidel My mom is an atheist, too. My dad is very religious (Baha'i) but lives in another state, meaning I don't have to deal with it much. I'm not sure what bahai is. A friend of mine said she was trying it but it required her to accept stuff from christianity and she couldn't do that, so now she just dropped religion completely. Does that make sense? Or was she talking about something different?

My parents don't know I'm Atheist. I plan to break the ice when I move out, though, which shouldn't be long.

Yes. I'm also a Liberal, while my parents are Conservative Republicans. You do the math,
Also, I've mentioned this before somewhere; not sure if it was in this guild or not: My father tried to preform an exorcism on me when I was 16. My childhood was full of emotional and physical abuse; apparently he thought it could change me; it didn't.

Or was she talking about something different? That makes sense. From what I remember about it, the Baha'i Faith combines elements from a variety of religions (also, I'm pretty sure they believe that Bahá’u’lláh, their prophet, is in the line of prophets with Jesus and Muhammed). They're supposed to be a religion that unites people of all other religions.

They're atheists too.
My grandfather was the one to leave religion. He got kicked out of the house when he was 14. Guess it was much worse in the 1930's.

my family is catholic, some of my relatives are extremely conservative. I'm glad my parents are not, but my mother has issues to accept me as an atheist. My father doesn't care, he said i'm old enough to decide by myself. Anyway, being atheist makes me much more happy than being fake-religious.
