Holding his arm as they walked out of the vardo, Lee bit her lip at his words. "Sorry. I'm just excited..." She was annoying him with all this, wasn't she? Perhaps it was time to tone down the eagerness and just enjoy a picnic. Attempting a peek into the basket, she wondered what he might have packed, but decided, again, she should just wait and see.

As promised, it wasn't that long of a walk through the camps to the southern field. Rory led her to a spot with with a nice grouping of trees near a small creek. Setting the basket down he got a blanket off the top of it and spread it out then placed the basket on the blanket and sat down. "What d'you think o' th' place, eh?"

Eyes dancing around the scenery before her, Lee couldn't help but smile with delight. "It's beautiful... I didn't even know there was a place like this so close." She very rarely got to see nature this way, having lived in the city all her life. Sitting beside Rory, letting her legs fold under her, she leaned against him, looking toward the creek with a pleasant smile on her lips.

Rory put an arm around her waist, hugging her a bit closer, and pointed off with his free hand toward the creek. "Can you just imagine a little bridge there an' a garden wi' a cottage behind it? Maybe a thatched roof and shuttered windows. Thinkin' white walls perhaps. An' just there would be some flowerbeds. Might e'en be able t' plant an apple tree." He looked down at her. "What d'you think?"

Watching as he pointed, smiling and nodding as he began to speak, Lee's eyes widened and her mouth fell a bit at the realization. This was the land he wanted to get. Her eyes softened, a wide grin slowly forming on her face before she finally looked back over to Rory. She laughed with disbelief before throwing herself on him, hugging him tight. "It's perfect." She could imagine all of those things, could imagine both she and Rory living here together, but it felt like more of a dream than an actual possibility.

Rory fell over, not expecting to be tackled, and hugged her back. "Glad you think so, lover. I already bought it. Keagan's got all the zonin' finished an' w'll all be buildin' soon. Fao's cottage will be up on the hill o'er there." He pointed off, sitting up with Lee in his lap. "So they'll still be close by t' visit. It'll be a few weeks, but w'll hae a home soon. A real house. I think two bedrooms an' a loft will gi' plenty o' sleepin' room, eh? I e'en made plans fae a real bathroom."

"You're lying. You have to be..." Lee turned her head back toward the creek, where Rory was telling her their home would be, and blinked. "Oh my god..." she whispered, almost losing her voice. Turning back to Rory, her grin returned to her, a hint of tears in her eyes from the excitement of it all. She sighed, not finding the words to express how happy she was. "I'll have a bathroom again?" She brought a hand to her mouth, clearly very emotional over that single fact.

Rory stroked her cheek gently. "Donnae cry, lass." He smiled at her, reaching back into the basket and handed her a small box. "It ain't exactly a proposal, but.. a promise. I ain't gaen anywhere an' I ain't gonna leave you."

Lee reached out to hold the box, trembling hands opening it to reveal a ring. She wasn't sure what the significance of it was, but Rory's words gave it meaning enough to make the tears in her eyes fall down her cheeks. How could he expect her not to cry after saying something like that? The box still in her hands, she leaned forward, giving the boy a deep kiss before looking back at him. "I love you," was all she could manage to say.

"I love you, too, lass," Rory said softly, wiping the tears gently from her cheeks. "You know, I figure Lauss can live in th' cottage, too. He'll hae his own room. He might like tha' more than stayin' in th' vardo, yeah? I can prolly put a lot o' shelves in there fae his growin' collection o' books."

At the mention of Lauss, Lee's face softened, her smile fading a bit. She needed to tell Rory still... If they were going to be moving in together, he should know, shouldn't he? Stalling for as long as she could, Lee held the box in front of Rory, pulling it out and smiling. "Is it supposed to go on a certain finger?" She wasn't going to put it on her left ring finger if they weren't engaged, unless, of course, she was supposed to.

"Gaes on th' proper ring finger. I mean, it ain't an engagement." He bit his lip, looking down. "Not unless you want it t' be. Claddagh rings are meant t' be worn on th' left ring finger, though. It's a symbol o' love." He pointed to the design. "See? Th' heart is fae love, th' hands are friendship, an' th' crown is loyalty. It's all th' things a relationship is supposed t' hae in it."

Smiling with awe as she looked it over, Lee slipped it onto her finger and admired it, eventually looking up at Rory with a grin. Holding it up for him to see for a moment, she giggled with delight before leaning in and kissing him. Pulling him into a hug, she let her head rest on his shoulder, mostly so she wouldn't have to look at him as she spoke her next words. "There's something I still have to tell you... about Lauss..." Perhaps she should have waited to put the ring on, in case he wanted it back once he knew how illegal an activity she'd involved herself in.

"What about him? He really your dad's b*****d son from a mistress an' you're lookin' after him?" Rory asked, chuckling, then looked down at her. "Is he your retarded cousin?"

"Huh?" Blinking a bit and pulling away, giving Rory a questioning look, Lee shook her head, almost laughing, and would have if she hadn't been in such a serious mood. "N-no, it's not... we're not related..." Coughing with the uncomfortable mood that was growing on her, Lee took her time saying anything, eventually sighing. "I'm not supposed to tell anyone. Pretty sure we could both get into a lot of trouble if anyone finds out, too. I hate to think what would happen to Lauss..." She looked into her lap, biting her lip. "Do you even want to know? Even if it might hurt you to know?"
