Raruo excelled the more they fought, tearing flesh and feeling his own be torn. Nothing vital yet. Of course, Raruo's definition of a 'fatal' wound was one that killed him out right. He hadn't suffered one yet, obviously, and thus he was not currently in any rush to end the battle.
After what felt like days of swinging, clawing, biting, ducking and dodging he finally managed to land a good hit right to the other lion's face. When Kahiga fell Raruo lunged and bit down firmly on Kahiga's front paw, pulling it with all his strength and jerking his whole body, not just his head, in an effort to throw /drag the other wounded lion just for the hell of it.
Panting, Raruo noticed how much blood was falling from his wounds, but he had been through worse. He snorted, laughing, standing tall and strong, expecting, and excited for, another attack. Let the coward keep coming: Raruo could keep this up all day!

"Rrraorr!" Kahiga growled in protest as soon as the other lion grabbed ahold of his paw, trying to scramble to his feet. It wasn't any use, however -- the more he twisted and pulled and tried to get away, the worse it hurt.
But then -- the Veteran let go. Kahiga snatched his paw back and favored it, holding it close and snarling at his opponent. "It seems your shadow-hide hides more than the blood of your kin that you've slain," he spat, "But your might alone will not prepare you for what will come ahead!"
With that, Kahiga at once turn and ran off back to the Dhati, not wishing to tangle with Raruo and give himself further injury. His paw hurt, his pride was injured, and most importantly of all, Kahiga was afraid. If he, an experienced fighter, could not tangle with a simple Mizimu... how well would an ex-Sacrifice fair? He needed to warn the Dhati that the Mizimu were taking no chances on the border.

Raruo snarled as the other dared to address him in the middle of their fight. Or rather, what he thought was the middle. As it turned out, it was the end, and he was only further enraged as the other lion threatened the Mizimu home and then ran away like the coward Raruo knew him to be.
Planting his feet firmly, Raruo roared after the fleeing Dhati, a vicious sound that echoed on the air and made the blood stained grass at his feet tremble. He could not give chase, not wanting to risk leaving his lands for any reason, though he would have to retreat for a little while to have a certain healer look at his wounds. Still, giving chase could lead to a trap, and he was not going to get himself killed outside of his home. If he was to die in battle, it would not be because he was tricked. He would die here, defending these lands, and would accept nothing else.
Growling, furious, he snorted in the direction the lion had fled and turned to limp back to report what he had found, and then to return to his den, to Kaihdin, and get himself patched up for the next fight. Hopefully he had given the Dhati something to think about.
