As the fire was set she worked on skinning the animal and cutting a portion for two the other introduced her self, "Itazalozgur Olsksal’kusesch. You cahll me can Itaz. Eezier to moos' shay."

"Itaz it is? Well me name's Eldeth, I don't suppose it's to difficult to say, but if it is, you ken call me El."

She nodded and skewered the meat with a stick and set up the meat to hang over the fire. There was silence until she heard over her shoulder,
"Greetings. I am called Leon. I seem to be short on food and a source of alcohol. if you would be willing to share either, I would be... erm... ingratiated to you."

Well then! Eldeth thought grinning, she turned and waved to the stranger with a hearty grin, "Well have a seat Leon, and I'll carve you up a slice, I have some mead to offer up!"

"Elghdeaghth," Itaz messily repeated back with a look of deep concentration. "Elghdeath... cahll El I shthink." She frowned but nodded as she adjusted her position on her knees. The two then fell into an easy silence as Eldeth worked on what was soon going to be dinner. 'It smells good,' she thought to herself as she swallowed and licked her dried lips. She'd been able to make her doll feed and give her wa-

"Doll!" She exclaimed suddenly as she shot up from her spot and ran over to where the stake had previously been. She picked up her now crushed wooden doll with careful hands. 'Oh no...' she picked up her doll's now broken arm before looking at the other places where her doll had been cracked or snapped right in half.

It was due to this that Itaz was startled by Leon's presence. She jumped up and jerked her head to look over her shoulder as his deep voice caught her attention. He spoke clearer than Eldeth did and she found that she was able to actually understand what he was saying without too much effort put into listening. His name was Leon and he wanted food and alcohol due to his low supplies. Eldeth eagerly invited him to join (or so Itaz thought) them. Itaz turned around and bowed quickly. "Goo' aghft'noon Leon," she greeted before stepping up to the fire and sitting down on her knees again, eyes on the fire.

Artemis had been walking on the dirt path for some time now. She was growing tried of the monotony of it all. For the hundredth time that day, she wished she had excepted the horse that the last village offered her. It was getting to be night time. She knew she should find a place to sleep for the night, but she did not want to stop just yet. Soon, she saw the flames of a fire not far up from her. Curious, she lengthened her strides. She slowed and stopped some feet away from the two sitting by the fire. Taking a deep breath, they were cooking deer, she spoke in clear common language, "Hello. Would I be intruding if I ask to take a seat by your fire? I also have some spices that might be good in flavoring the venison more." Art watched the two with interested eyes. It was a female dwarf making cooking the deer. She had yet to speak to a dwarf and had heard very little of their way of life. The other, the archer guessed, was also a human.

"Bahk I be een mainit thwentea," Itaz told Eldeth slowly as she rose up from up the ground, carefully holding the last pieces of her wooden doll. quickly headed off for the trees and once she was a fair enough distance she closed her eyes and whispered a spell underneath her breath. When she opened her eyes everything was lit up with soft lights that varied in color. She looked around until she spotted a spirit in a cloud-like body wandering out from between the trees.

"" Itaz began in her own language as she held up her hands. ""

"" The spirit answered as it floated closer to her.

""

"" it hummed as a hand materialized and reached out to touch her hair. ""

Itaz nodded before using one of the wooden pieces of her doll to slice off a piece of her hair. The spirit gently plucked it from her hands before moving passed her. ""

"" Itaz bowed before walking after it. It only took two minutes for the sound of moving water to reach her ears and very soon she found herself standing at a small stream that would just be big enough for her bathe in. "" Itaz said as she bowed again. The spirit shivered before disappearing out of the corner of her eye. Itaz removed the spell before removing her dirtied clothes and trying to wash herself and them as well as she could.

She worked quickly, using whatever soap she had to clean all the dirt off of herself and her clothes. When she finished she used a small towel to pat herself dry, shook and wrung her clothes to dry them out and then applied the heavy amounts of make-up she wore everyday. Once she was sure every inch of visible skin was covered she put everything away and headed back.

True to her word she'd come back in twenty minutes. At this point the fire was starting to roar up mighty strong and she picked a spot close by to help dry off the last of her clothes. It'd also help to catch the smell of smoke on herself to keep the insects away. Not that the insects here bothered her much- actually it almost seemed as if they avoided her. Then a movement caught the corner of her eye- who was that? Itaz turned her head and watched them move closer, hands tight on her lap.

"Hello. Would I be intruding if I ask to take a seat by your fire? I also have some spices that might be good in flavoring the venison more."

Itaz blinked and looked between Eldeth and the newcomer. Did she have the authority to say yes? She supposed so but she didn't want to speak for Eldeth either. Then again she was supposed to be pretending to be a human, not a S'varian, so maybe she should respond anyway. After a moment of hesitation she held her arm out and gestured for the stranger to sit.

Eldeth watched the young woman disappear and tilted her head giving her a long look, finally it was obvious she planned to come back, as some of her things where nearby she shrugged and continued to eat. The Dwarf scratched a small ridge of a scar on her nose and sniffled as the smoke hear made her sneeze. When she shook it off she looked up and noticed the woman was back, she was also cleaner than before. “Ahh! I see ye took a’bat! I bet’chee feel moar liek a person now!” She laughed and stretched and started to un-strap her armor. With the heavy mail not burdening her it was obvious that Eldeth wasn’t quite as shapeless as the armor made her seem.

She was well defined in the chest, and had large hips, but it was obvious her arms and legs were chorded in muscle. Of course with the fact she had been carrying a large war hammer on her back it should have been obvious she was worth her weight in muscle.

“Hello. Would I be intruding if I ask to take a seat by your fire? I also have some spices that might be good in flavoring the venison more."

Eldeth looked over her shoulder and smiled at the other’s invitation, it was her philosophy really – the more the merrier around a fire! “Always laddie! Ye be moar dan welcom’ to join us!”

((Hey Moria do you think you could edit that image to NOT blink? It slow my comp down something major? PLEASE?! Thanks!))

Artemis smiled at the younger one.

"Always laddie! Ye be moar dan welcom' to join us!"

She took a seat on the ground between the two others. "Thank you," Artemis said. Company was a welcome thing after just a few days alone on a dirt road. She stretched her legs out in front of her, scooting back as needed. She then pulled off her bows and arrows along with her small pack that she always carries with her. She left her long sword and daggers on for comfort. She rarely ever parted with then even when she slept.

Glancing at the cooking deer, Art remembered her offer of spices. A few seconds after she places her hand in her pack her hand came back out the bottom with a clear ripping sound. She needed a new bag. Artemis laughed at herself and just let the contains of the bag fall out. "Wonderful," she mumbled. She picked out her few spices and set them by the dwarf. Calmly, Art began moving her small amount of things into a pile.(haven't decided what's in it yet.XD)

The stumpy one said something loudly in a quick, thick accent that kept Itaz from keeping track on what she was saying. The tone said that the newcomer was welcome, however. The stranger sat down between Itaz and Eldeth and began taking her things off. Itaz scooted away a few inches, eyes moving from the newcomer to the food that was a mere feet away. She hadn't eaten in days.

Carefully Itaz moved around the other side of the fire and over to where Eldeth was eating. Sheepishly she reached out, looking up at the Dwarf for a split second as if to ask for permission before taking a piece of meat and then scooting away again.

Her first bite into the meat was... amazing. She could feel her entire body tingling in appreciation for food. She ate at a pace that others would consider to be a bit too quickly. The food was gone almost immediately and Itaz scooted forward again, looked at Eldeth, picked a little bit more food and started eating it again.

As she ate she thought, trying to pull the situation that she was currently stuck in. At least she had food and wasn't stuck to the stake anymore- but at the moment that was the least of her problems. There was nothing she could do at the moment, though... nothing except for rest and to try and do something in the morning...

“Thank ye my good sir!” she nodded as Artemis handed her the food, and then she began to add the spices over the meat. When she was finished she handed the spices back to their owner before beginning to slice the meat up for individuals to get. Of course what she WASN’T expecting was Itaz to be running back and forth acting like a kid with her hand caught in the ale cabinet when she shouldn’t be.

“Lady, ‘m not gonna eat ya fer tooching me food. Honestly, yer acting liek a skiddish lit’le bunny r’bbit.”

She laughed and just gave a sigh, such interesting people she was meeting, “So tell me laddie, what’s yer name?”

(Thanks for fixing that! XD)

Artemis grinned as she glanced at the young and pale one. She looked about fifteen or sixteen which made Art wonder if there was a village near by not on the map that she had. The map was folded up as the small base for her things. Then her favorite book, "Portentous Caution", roughly translated. Third, was her smaller bag of coins and a ring she had found on a battle ground. She tried finding the owner, but no one had recognized it. Lastly would be her spices. Those of which, she excepted back from the dwarf and placed them next to her pile. Maybe she should add a pack-mule to her getting a horse.

"Lady, 'm not gonna eat ya fer tooching me food. Honestly, yer acting liek a skiddish lit'le bunny r'bbit."

That made Artemis giggle. It was what the young woman looked like she was doing. She also looked like she had not eaten in days. Though, Artemis could not be sure through the roaring fire.

The would-be-guard's stomach growled, reminding her that she too, was hungry. She eased out one of her daggers from it's sheath. Using the sharp steal as a utensil, Artemis stabbed some of the sliced meat and began to eat.

"So, tell me laddie, what's yer name?"

Artemis nearly choked on the meat as she swallowed. She had forgotten that she did not state her name. "My name is Artemis Bashere. What is yours?" said Artemis. Slowly, with smaller bites, she began eating again.

((Missy, Artemis is the 'laddie' right?))

"Adventure is my middle name."
PostPosted: Wed Jan 27, 2010 9:57 pm

{{Yeah, Artemis is the "laddie." As in... boy. xD}}

Itaz lowered her head and nodded quickly at what Eldeth said while murmuring incoherently. She ate what she had in her hands and then quietly scooted closer to where the food was. This time she picked up more meat slower than she had before and then retreated back to the spot she'd deemed her personal space.

Itaz ate at what had to be an unhealthy pace again. She lessen the frequency of her bites towards the end, some of her starving hunger finally dissipating now that there was meat in her stomach. She didn't stop eating, however- there was still plenty of meat left and she was going to need to eat more than what she had to get all of the energy she'd lost back.

"My name is Artemis Bashere. What is yours?"

Itaz looked up and blinked between the short Dwarf and human. "Itazalozgur Olsksal’kusesch," she replied quickly over the roar of the fire. "You cahll can Itaz. Eezier to shay," she added, eyes darting downward to her lap and then off into the woods. She could feel a presence weaving itself through trees, almost like music through air. It was harmonious yet it struck the wrong chord in her and she was suddenly finding herself feeling extremely uncomfortable. She shifted in her seat as a frown crossed over her unhealthily pale features. As she stretched out her senses to find out what it was the presence slipped away.

'Odd.' She thought to herself as she studied the woods for a few more seconds. 'Must have been a stray spirit passing by... I didn't feel anything else when I was walking through...' she tilted her head and blinked before taking another bite out of the meat.

Itaz finished the rest of the meat that she'd grabbed for herself, licked her hands clean and then moved a little closer to the fire before laying down on her side and closing her eyes. As the cold in the air caressed her skin with nails she sat back up, opened her backpack and pulled a thin blanket out. "Shleep I," she stated as she curled up, ducking her head underneath the blanket as she dragged her backpack into the blanket with her.

"Artemis eh? Who'da fancyed a name leik that for a handsome young man such as yer self." Eldeth smiled before picking up a slice of meat for her self and taking a bite. Giving a sigh of joy, Eldeth licked her fingers and noted to herself that this just might be the best cooked meal she's ever done. Oddly enough which wasn't saying much considering Eldeth was a fighter not a cooker. "Me name's Eldeth Mason."

When Itaz finished her frenzied eating and currled up into a ball under a blanket Eldeth reached over and gave the young woman a pat on the shoulder, "Sleep well youngin'. May the Gods smile on ye."

You know I try to be
All that I can
But there's a part of me
I still don't understand

((Oh, boy. Artemis is going to have fun with that.XD))

Artemis finished eating with her dagger. She wiped it off on her pants and sheathed it.

"Itazolozgur Olsksal'kusesch. You cahll can Itaz. Eesier to shay."

Artemis's eyed widened at the words. 'Who taught her to speak common?' Artemis wondered. She had never heard that sort of accent before. If she traveled with these ladies, she could foresee speech lessons for Itaz. 'Strange, but her name is pretty enough when she says it. I'm sure if I give it a go, I'd mutilate it.' Artemis watched Itaz as she shifted as if uncomfortable. Artemis smiled to her even when she knew that the girl could not see.

"Artemis eh? Who'da fancyed a name leik that for a handsome young man such as yer self. Me name's Eldeth Mason."

At Eldeth's words, Artemis's eyes widened again for the second time that night. The dwarf thought she was a man. After her shock faded, Artemis smiled. It was not as if Artemis was that feminine really. She glanced down at herself. Yep, the tanned leather hid pretty much everything. Strange company she was getting to know. Surprisingly, she included herself in the strange part.

"Shleep I."

"Sleep well youngin'. May the Gods smile on ye."

"Sweet dreams, Itaz." Artemis said. Was her voice also manly? Art could not tell that. Smiling at the thought again, she nodded to Eldeth. "Sleep is a good idea. Which way are you folk heading in the morn?" Moving as she spoke to put herself length wise to the fire. The twenty-five year old woman stared at the fire while she weighted on a response. The fire swayed as a light wind blew and stopped. Again and again. The motion made it look as if the fire was dancing. Soothing her into a deep sleep before she could hear any reply to her question.

Flames and screams were all that Artemis could see. The roof of a tavern beside her crashed to the second floor of the burning building. People ran around her trying to put out the flames that consumed their livelihoods. Frozen with shock, Artemis just watched with cold eyes. A young girl was pulled out of a building ahead of her by her mother. They both were covered in never ending fire. Water did nothing to quench the oranges and reds. Why was water not working? How could a fire live through water? 'MAGIC!' something shrieked her mind. 'Magic?' Artemis questioned. 'Yes, you fool! Magic! Someone is controlling the flames.' the voice said, 'Do something.' Artemis watched as the mother and daughter fell to the charred ground and stilled. 'What? What could I do against magic?' Artemis asked the voice. People continued dieing around her in agonizing pain. An old man, about fifty, ran to her. Taking her shoulders he shook her while trying to say something through his mutilated face. His jaw was missing along with one of his eyes. Disgusted, Artemis pushed him away and he too fell to the ground and lay still like the mother and daughter. She covered her mouth with the back of her hand, trying to hold back the bile that began to raise. The air reeked of death. 'Find them. Find them!' the voice said at last. Art looked around her in hope of finding the person the voice belonged to. No one was near her anymore. They all were running away almost as if...As if... 'Who? Who am I to find?' Art thought desperately, fear raising into her chest and griping her heart. She waited and waited for the voice to say something...Anything! Anything just to have an answer. The flames moved inward, to the town center, where Artemis stood. Panic gripped her completely now. She ran for the town edge, but could not make it through the flames. She screamed as she was surrounded by the magical fire. "Help! Help me!" She yelled. She could see people just beyond the fire, watching and waiting, just as she had done in the beginning. Still, there was no reply as death claimed her last breath and her soul.

Gasping for breath Artemis opened her eyes as wide as she could and gripped her necklace, nearly breaking the chain. When she realized that she was not covered in flames, she eased her grip just a little. Sitting up took some effort as her body, too, realized that it had no need to be so tense from fear. Artemis glanced around her, noted with a little bit of pleasure that the fire was out and that the other two were sleeping.

Sighing, Artemis rubbed her temples. She had no headache, but she had heard from someone that it could be relaxing none the less. It was barely morning and they would have to leave their camp soon. The woman decided to push away her nightmare, though it was the first one she had in a long time, in favor of a bath. There was a lake around here, somewhere. Artemis stood and quietly moved away from the encampment. She glanced back once to make sure she had not awoken anyone and began her search.

Itaz slept without moving, her limbs and mind suddenly filled with lead despite the fact that she'd been sleeping just a few hours ago. Her dreams were listless and filled with memories and thoughts of the land that laid just across the tall wall that barred them all from the world that laid almost right outside their finger tips...

She could literally smell and feel everything that she was experiencing inside of her dreams. The smell of smoke laced with perfume that wafted and spun through the air like a snake without a spine. It was almost as if it were dancing to the music that was being played on the other side of the room. Chains jingled restlessly, as if sympathizing with their wearers' emotions. Talking and the sound of plates clinging could also be heard. The sensation of petal-like velvet and the chill of steel as cold as the first breath of winter played along the sides of her neck.

The dream moved from scene to scene, waltzing around her like a ball in the center of a ballroom. It shifted like running water, never still and parts of it comforting and the other brutal and rough.

Then something broke through her dreams. The dream's flow disrupted like someone throwing a rock through a window. Her eyes tore open and she bolted upright as she threw her blanket off of herself.

Her red eyes stared up towards the sky. Light was just barely beginning to grace the sky's presence- however the beams of gold and red were hardly comforting to her. They bounced off of the clouds- the clouds- that were stretched out across the sky like a dead man's skin on canvas.

It was then that she noticed one of the people from camp leaving. She gasped, scrambling up onto her feet and bolting after her. "SSKRAGH! SSKRAGH! SHTOP!" Itaz yelled at her as she raced up and grabbed the human's arm. Then she pulled on it, trying to get the other to go in the direction she was pulling her in. "Cghamp! Camp! Bahk come pleeze!"
