Amber felt herself grow calmer as Iniabi gave her a hug. She returned it gently, nodding softly. "I'm so sorry...it's hard to lose those we love...my brother, he is my age...he left with Mother...I have no mate and my Father is handicapped..."

"I... really don't know what else to say other than I'm sorry.." He let out a sigh and released her from his hug. "I use to be able to say that everything would be alright, but I don't know anymore. I loved Kitten with my whole heart, and I thought that once we had children that she would stay.. but she didn't.. I.. I'm sorry that anyone would have to go through anything similar.. My other son left with Kitten."

Her ears pin to her head as she frowns sadly, until he mentions a name. "...Kitten..." Looks up at him, blinking a few times, her head tilting to the side. "Did you say Kitten was your mate...?"

He gave a sad and low nod to her question right before his brow creased and his eyes immediately bolted upright, "You know her? Do you know where she is?" His eyes now wore a hope in them as she had his whole attention.

Her ears flattened to her ears, knowing the truth would hurt him. "Well...she is my sister but...I do not know where she is...our Mother Ozzie left my Father..."

Iniabi's ears immediately went flat, "She's... she's your sister...?" He tried to feign a smile but it instantly faded, his eyes no longer able to look at her. It now came to him why she had reminded him so much of his Kitten. It was a truth that almost caused him more hurt, but he wouldn't let her know that.. he wouldn't let it show... no.. He couldn't let her know that he was breaking, he would be strong. "I... I'm sorry Amber.. But.. maybe you could see your niece and nephew someday..."

Amber noted the change in the male, her own chest aching as his ears flattened. His sadness was obvious, but she felt no need to speak of it. Now she wondered where her Mother and Sister had gone again..."I...I have a niece and nephew...? I'd love to..." A silent sob choked her as she thought of what he could be feeling...

"Well... two nephews and a niece.." His voice cracked a little. "But Synder is with his mother.. I've been taking care of my son Otieno and my daughter Abeytu on my own." He gave a weak smile, holding back the tears in his eyes. "They.. wonderful children.. Synder looks like me.. Abeytu..." His voice gave out again before he swallowed and regained it, "looks like her mother... and Otieno looks like a mix of the two of us." He looked up at her, his vision a little blurry now as he put a paw gently around her to try to comfort her.

While he could hold his emotions back, she never had to before, so when tears threatened they spilled. "I'm so sorry...I can't imagine...I know my Father was torn up but..." The paw around her only caused her to cry harder. "I never should've said anything..."

Iniabi quickly wiped a tear away that had fallen down his cheek, he didn't want to let her see him cry, she needed him to be strong, didn't she? Looking down at her he tried to smile as he tightened his paw around her. "Its okay Amber... I know you didn't mean to cause anything..."

Amber looked down, thinking about her own family now. "I look like both of my parents. So when my Dad took a new mate after Mom left..." Visions of her two babie sisters passed before her, as well as her Mother and Brother. "I lost a brother along with Kitten and Ozzie...I wish none of them had left..."

He sighed and gave a nod, "I'm sorry Amber.. I don't know what else to say... but you do have a family... even if you aren't happy with what happened... you do have sisters. And you have my children... and that makes you family.. at least to me.." He tried to give her a light smile though it came out weak.

She looked at him as he spoke, nodding as a soft smile broke the sobs. "If I'm family to you then...your family to me..." She stopped crying then and gave him the lion equivilant of a hug. "Your right..."

He nodded softly, glad the lioness was finally calming down. "One day... you'll have a family of your own. You're a very beautiful lioness." He smiled softly and turned his head, he was meaning it only to be nice, but as he thought about it it was tru, very true in fact. But a part of him ached at the thought because he had no wish or desire to move on from Kitten, rather she was gone for good or not.

She cleared her throat at the compliment, attempting to hide a soft blush. "Well thank you...I hope I do someday..." She looked at him again. "and...I hope you find happiness again Iniabi...No...I know you will."
