"I think they probably do," he responded, not unhumbly, through a mouthful of fish. "I don't think I have ever given them a reason to not love me."
Her refusal to eat until he was full unsettled him. Naeem watched her curiously, through a pair of sleepy eyes and then shook his head.
"Friends take care of each other. Here," he offered her the uneaten half of his own fish with a paw, "won't you eat?"

A sweet gentle smile curled her muzzle as Zana looked back over her shoulder at him. It was not that she was submissive to a male, if anything her father taught her to be respectful, but strong in her own worth. "It is alright my friend, I -like- taking care of people. You see I am a horrible hunter, but when it comes to fishing it..." She shrugged smiling more, "it is a way I can provide and it makes me happy knowing that I can. So please eat."
She turned back to watching the water, unaware of the rippling pattern the water reflected on her white fur. She focused instead on the delicious fish that darted just under the surface of the water.

Naeem smiled wistfully at Zana, and watched her in the water. She was a very dear girl, he could tell, and he was supremely glad that he'd met her. Her gentle manner and the things that she said made him feel at home. Even though he had only just met her, the young lion couldn't help but trust her. Zana was the reliable type. He liked that very much.
"Thank you, Zana," he murmured softly after finishing the fish she had caught for him, "It is getting late, and my mother will be looking for me soon, so I had better find my way back now before its too dark. You're very nice. I hope to see you again."

She turned her head to smile at him happily," Well we certainly do not want your mother to worry. I am very happy to have met you too Naeem. Perhaps when we travel back this way we will meet again."
She knew it wouldn't be long till her family moved on, they never stayed in one place too long. it made it hard for the little girl to make friends, but it was just the way of her family, she knew no other life.
"Good-bye Naeem!!"
