"You see, beloved, you ARE a flatterer, no hiding it!" Kinyamkela laughed gaily before pattering into the flowing river. "Lord of hidden waters? Why, I might just have to actually exert myself in this one!" With that arch comment she pushed herself smoothly off after him as he had splashed past, spraying the air with rainbow droplets. She swam as strongly as she could; the current was not strong, and she did not have a large mane to weigh her down. Even so the race was close-matched, and the lioness could feel the dust of the day's heat and mud lifting off in the clean flow.

Enki lets out a snort as water gets in his nose...then winks a green eye at you and vanishes beneath the water his large paws not quite helping make up entierly for his mane though under the water it billows in the current like some kind of exotic grass.
He reaches up and tugs at her tail with his teeth.
Holding his breath is one thing having a mane taught him when he had to cross larger rivers.

With a startled yowl the lioness found herself yanked beneath the water for a moment, golden eyes wide in the strange world beneath the surface before fighting her way to the air once more. She burst out with a big splash, gasping for breath, before finally seeing the trick of it.
"I'll get you for that!" She threatned with a still-gasping laugh, settling back into the water for her accustomed strong paddle. But she was dismayed to see she had lost her small lead. Curses!

He laughs as he rises sputtering to the surface.. "Warned you...Hidden waters!" He laughs..
"You look outstanding when your soaked!" He laughs and strikes out again for the shore. "Come and fetch me lady of storms!"

Kinyamkela hauled herself onto the other bank, finally reaching her goal, but not until after her laughing mate. She cuffed him lightly on the shoulder, smiles in her eyes.
"That's surely cheating, my lord of hidden waters," she laughed wryly, staying clear of his soaked mane and giving herself a thorough shake. She leapt up onto a boulder bythe river's edge and proclaimed grandly, "I now hereby declare Enki to be disqualified, and Kinyamkela the winner!" The lioness's giggles bubbled out over the sound of the water.

"Ohh ho...is that how it works" He says crawling out and standing there dripping and waiting. "Alow me to crown you my champion" He grins and shakes from head to tail in a great spray of water well cluctched by his great mane.
He lifts his chin to lick you behind the ear. "Mmm...Queen of storms has been rained on" He laughs. "But how fine she looks"

From Mistweaver thread "Are....you alright Kinya-love?" Enki says, noting her smile..."You look a little....."
Kela stepped back a little, looking uncertain again. "Oh, I..." She stopped and then started again. "I.. have something to tell you. You too, Maji..." Her tail flicked nervously until she realised and stilled it.
Enki's ears tip comicaly...one up...one down...."W.....whats wrong..." he says anxiously.
"Nothing's wrong, exactly," And she smiled a small smile again at her suddenly flustered mate. And she hadn't even told him yet... she took a deep breath.
"Enki, I... we're having little ones. Cubs." There, she'd said it. Her eyes flickered anxiously between the two lions she cared most about in her life, gauging hteir reactions.
"I....Cubs?.......Cubs........CUBS!!!!!" He sputters and tackles her. "I...I...I.....IM A DAD!!!!!!"
He paused for breath before saying again "Imadadimdadadimdadad!!!"

Kinyamkela stertched luxuriantly on top of the warm rocks. The waterfall a little way off provided some coolness, but its fall was not as thunderous or great now the weather was so arid. She longed for the rains now...
Rolling over slightly to put her rune-marked back to the rock, she stared up at the sky and then twisted her head to look at the jungle below. She was not that high up, but she could see enough to tell instantly that the white and earth-toned shape below her was her beloved Enki. Golden eyes smiling softly, she put one grey forepaw to her now noticably more rounded belly, and waited for him to arrive.

He arched his neck high to keep her meat clear off the groud...he'd never been bad at hunting...but feeding His lovely Mate was starting to tax him...though he assumed it must be -fairly- normal...after all...she had new life growing in that lovely round belly of hers... He'd torn free a good haunch to bring her this time..
Even though it was dead it still managed to get in a few more 'kicks' as it knocked against a few rocks on the way up.
At least it tasted better than the dried rushes he'd helped bring in to give her something warm and comfortable to lay on..
The dry heat made her shimmer at the edges like a miradge...and he'd half believe if it he couldn't feel her soft fur under his muzzel as layed the meat before her and washed behind her ears.
"Your stunning...." He says without thinking..

Kinyamkela made a deep contented sound in the back of her throat, pressing her head up against her mate's chin, willing to wait for the food. "Why thankyou, beloved," she said delightedly, rolling back forward to lay slightly ungainly on her front. "And what have you brought me today?" She sniffed at it delicately, despite her hunger. Good grief, why must she always be hungry these days? But she thought of the new lives that wriggled and pawed inside her, and she was filled with a powerful joy that came from knowing that there would soon be little ones, ones of her and her Enki. She blinked and then smiled up at him before taking a large bite.

"Mmm just a Zebra haunch...one of these days I'll have made this trip enough times I'll bring the whole thing up for you" He half jokes...though to some degree hes serious...he'd go to any end to make sure shes comfortable and well fed.
He stares happily at the curve of her belly....Cubs...I still can't believe it...just...its so...wonderful...I never would have thought I could...I would...."

'Kela reached up to swat cheerfully at his jaw. "You do talk silly sometimes, beloved. Shouldn't you have known this would happen?" She peeked up at him coyly before making for the food again, catching the haunch up in a big paw and making short work of it. It assuaged her hunger for now, and she carelessly let the bones clatter down to the rocks below and beside. Turning onto her back again she snuggled against the lage white bulk behind her, golden eyes dreamy.
"Ah, Enki... I never thought I could be happier." She smiled softly. "Now allwe need are the rains, and the whole of the lands will awaken with new life..."

He lays a gentle paw on her shoulder nuzzeling against her....drowning in the smell of her the feel of her...
"I just...never thought that I of anyone...would ever be here...like this..expecialy not with one so beautiful..."
His gaze lifted to the stare out over the great expance of the horizon where it stretched far and away like a great promice...though the air was dry he knew in his soul that the Storm God lingered like a hunger beyond that horizon.
"Perhaps its waiting for you my love... Perhaps our children will call The Storm God to rise over the horizon a great grey roll of thunder to wash away the heat and the dry..."
